DEL.ICIO.USCarver-Columbus OL says UCLA is “just too far from home” and commits to UAB

Despite his commitment to Alabama-Birmingham, Carver-Columbus offensive lineman Chris Hubbard is still keeping his options open.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound guard committed this weekend after an official visit, but he is still taking trips to Middle Tennessee, Massachusetts and Mississippi State.
“I just want to make sure if anything falls down with UAB I have other schools to fall back on,” he said.
Hubbard said UAB coach Corey Barlow told him he didn’t have to take his other visits but could if he wanted to.
“I think I found a home at UAB,” he said. “Its engineering program is one of the highest ranked in the country and that is a field I want to go into.”
Hubbard made an official visit to UCLA in October where he saw pop stars Chris Brown and Rihanna.
“UCLA is just too far from home,” he said.

I think some students are too attached to home. Go out and see the world….don’t let distance determine your decision all the time

Seems like a no-brainer. Go West, play Pac-10 football. Score some hot chicks. Write to mama. Or Birmingham? Think about it.
