Gainesville DL remembers Bobby Petrino’s departure from Falcons

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino’s unexpected departure from the Atlanta Falcons in 2007 still weighs on the mind of Gainesville’s Josh Jackson.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound defensive lineman is set to take an official visit to Arkansas this weekend.

“The way [Petrino] left the Falcons, you can’t forget that,” Jackson said.

Jackson, who feels that he is close to a scholarship offer from the Razorbacks, is still eager to get a close look at Fayetteville, Ark.

He currently holds offers from Georgia State, Massachusetts, N.C. State, Ole Miss and Toledo.

Jackson plans to visit Toledo on Jan. 16 and Ole Miss two weeks later.

The Rebels are the favorites to land a commitment from Jackson.

“[Ole Miss] did a lot of good things this year,” Jackson said. “And I like what [coach Houston Nutt] did for that program.”

He is being recruited at defensive tackle by Ole Miss.

Josh, you have every right to be concerned with the character flaws of your next head coach. Too big a decision in your future to trust that obvious weakness. Just ask yourself, would any one in my family have acted the same way as CBP? If the answer is yes, Arkansas may be for you.
Good luck no matter what school you play for.

Josh,

When you get to Fayetteville this weekend, asked Bobby Petrino face to face why he thought he needed to leave. Look past all of the spin on television.

I bet he will have no problem explaining to you his reasons for leaving.

Josh you might also ask nutt if he was looking at leaving to go to nebraska, and then this year to auburn and who knows where to next year, my bet would be petrino will be a arkansas longer than nutt will be at ole miss, and while your on the character of a coach call up damian williams, mitch mustain , and gus malzahn and ask them how they where treated by nutt

Ditto, Jeff. Give Gus a call. He’ll set you straight on Nutt.

Strong comments for a kid without an offer from Arkansas, that is getting a visit because of 2 juniors at his high school. Maybe Toledo is the place for him.

I think some of you should also ask why Dan Reeves was treated the way he was by the Falcon’s management team.
