TE Orson Charles recruited by other UGA prospects
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Troup offensive lineman Chris Burnette, who has committed to UGA, said he did his best to recruit Orson Charles for the Bulldogs.
Charles is ranked as one of the nation’s top tight ends, and just finished his senior season by helping Plant High win Florida’s Class AAAA championship. Plant’s quarterback was Aaron Murray, who is enrolling early at UGA.
Back to Burnette: He was roommates with Charles at the U.S. Army All-America Bowl and said he put in a few good words for UGA.
“Hopefully we’ll [UGA] be able to land him in the next few weeks,” Burnette said. “He really didn’t have any questions about Georgia, I think Aaron has done a good job of answering all of those.”
“Orson said that he was going to weigh out his options and pray about it. He wants to play somewhere that his mother could come see him play. That’s important to him.”
Charles has kept a low profile recently about his recruiting, but has been looking hard at Florida State, Georgia, Southern Cal, Florida and Miami.

I have to respect the fact that a recruit is interested in family being able to watch them play. Any time an athlete prays about a decision then God will guide them in thier decision. The fact that CMR is a Christian and is interested in players on a personnal basis gives credence to a good fit with Orson Charles in looking at UGA as an option. Also, the fact that UGA and CMR really employ the TE position into the offensive scheme and as a receiver should be important to a recruit at this position. Last year we had a big time TE committment renigh on signing day that left us thinner than we would have wanted at the position so opportunity knocks for a program that produces the recent likes of Leonard Pope and Ben Watson.

Sounds like he is the type of young man any program would love to have. He has the skills to be a wide receiver also if he does not gain alot of weight. Cannot blame him for wanting his mother to be able to see him play some. Best to him and hope he makes the corrct decision for him but would love to see him in red & black.

Orson will never find a more Christian coaching staff than at UGA. Also, it is an easy drive from the Tampa area to Athens with Interstate 75 most of the way. He and Aaron could continue to click together and would give UGA a terrific QB/TE tandum. Best wishes and God speed where ever he chooses. Hope it is UGA though.

Also noted is that Charles plays D too. He’s had a few QB sacks and hits behind the line and with a speed rush. Landing him is a must.

I am not sure if signing Orsen is a good idea. He is a talented induvidual, but we need to focus on interior lineman. We need some hogs on the o line.

Hey JHC. You might be careful with the sarcasm about Jesus. You will face him someday as a saved or unsaved person. There are only two places to go after that. Only you know that here on earth.
I’m a born again Christian and I pray that the outcome of a game be determined by which outcome will bring more glory to The Lord Jesus Christ. There are strong, comitted Christian players and coaches on all teams in college football.
I admit that Tim Tebow makes me a little nauseous with his attitude. I truly believe that he thinks he is the only one and that the outcome for the world depends on his performance. Not so Timmy! His tearful news conference following the Ole Miss game was really difficult for me. I hope he knows now that Ole Miss is a good football team.
As for CMR, he is a man who appears to live his faith and convictions and there’s nothing wrong with a recruit wanting to play for a coach like that.
For Tebow, his dedication to his home state apparently took precedence over hearing Urban Meyer scream _uck every other play on the sidelines.Maybe Tebow has had some influence on him.

Sid,
Why don’t you think about being born again as someone with a sense of humor.

People! Jesus don’t care who wins a ballgame. He cares about souls, nothing else. CMR keeps his priorities in prespective entirely on his faith. Football is important, but not the most important. If this is something recruits are looking for, then that is what they will get at UGA. Tim Tebow is passionate about his faith and his football. Good Kid. We should all have that kind of passion! My hat is tipped to Mr Charles if he makes his decisions through prayer. Good Luck to him on his decision.

I think we should sign more thugs like this Burnette kid and the Murray guy from FL. You know that’s what the whole team is. It wouldn’t surprise me to find a dog fighting ring going on in McWhorter Hall.
Still trying my best to find out who to see at the AJC I need to see about making an IQ larger than your shoe size mandantory before posting on a forum.
And btw, I have always wanted to ask Tebow what he thought about the behavior of his coach and how it lines up with his own standards. I wish a good AJC reporter would do that.

If your IQ had to be larger than your shoe size, then where would you go to vent PHIL? The Buzz?

PHIL: You won’t have to sweat it so long as your shoe size stays around 3 or 4.

Rod, the fact that you had to ask about a GPA being higher than a 4.0 is scary enough. When you take AP courses, much like Burnett has, an “A” in such a course credits a student with a 5.0. When you take several AP courses, as I assume Mr. Burnett has, you can the wind up with a GPA like the 4.5 Chris Burnett has. Oh, and Phil, Tebow is worried about himself and his actions, not judging the actions of others. Maybe you should apply this method to your own life and you won’t spout off on the vent with posts that make you look like…..well, you.

I am glad to see Stafford go! He should be a better Pro QB than he was a college QB. I do like what I hear about Murray. However, to reach a NC the team must have a QB who is a threat to run. Pocket QB are pro style and very few reach the BCS championship game. DEFENSES are required to reach the next level. Yeah and to improve the team—FIRE MARTINEZ
