UGA moves quickly on All-America DB Greg Reid
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Greg Reid caught UGA’s attention with his MVP performance in Sunday’s Under Armour All-America game.
Reid, the AJC’s all-classification player of the year, told the AJC he was contacted by Georgia assistant Mike Bobo on Monday and agreed to take an official visit to Athens on Jan. 30. Reid is a defensive back and wide receiver from Lowndes.
“[Bobo] said my scholarship offer from Georgia was still on the table, that I could take it at any time. It was there waiting for me,” Reid said.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Reid had two interceptions in the Orlando all-star game and thought he had a third, but it was ruled an incompletion. “To tell you the truth, I didn’t think I did as much as I could. I thought I could’ve helped out my team more.”
Reid made big news last week when he backed away from his longtime commitment to Florida because he felt he rushed his initial decision.
He was later asked if he had any interest in Georgia, which had made him an early offer, and Reid at that time said he was “unsure.” His talk with Bobo and other UGA commitments at the all-star game, most notably ECI tailback Washuan Ealey, evidently changed his mind.
“I’m from the state of Georgia, so I need to look at the Georgia Bulldogs,” Reid said. “They have a great program and a great coach. I want to go up there and look around for myself, meet the coaches, the players and see what it’s all about.”
Reid said he plans to announce his college decision on signing day, and it projects to be an all-out war between Georgia and Florida. Reid said he plans on making an official visit to Florida on Jan. 16 and Mississippi State on Jan. 23. He also is talking to several other schools, including Florida State and Texas.
Reid also received MVP honors at the GACA North-South All Star Classic in Columbus, Ga. on Dec. 29. Reid also likely be mentioned as a candidate for some national player of the year awards.
“I’ve received a lot of awards, but winning MVP at Under Armour was a real blessing,” he said. “I feel I represented Georgia well.”
Reid had to cut his interview short with the AJC on late Monday night. “Sorry about this, but I’ve got to go. It’s [Florida coach Urban Meyer] calling me on the other line.”

Greg Reid, you made a believer out of me last night (Sunday). Living in N. GA., I had never had an opportunity to see you play. You are definately a player.
My first suggestion to you would be to go with your heart and where you feel you will benefit - benefit in your personal growth, and benefit your team and school. Should you decide to become a DAWG, you will be coached by some of the finest in the business, cared for in your personal growth, and have a close relationship with a man of strong integrity in Coach Mark Richt. He will, as will all the coaches, guide you to the limits of their ability as you grow into adulthood.
You will receive an education in an excellent school, and in one of the best places to live in the South! On the social side, there will be plenty of beautiful young ladies. Facilities comparable to any, and exceeding most, are yours to utilize and enjoy.
You will have 93,000 fans, with about 83,000 minimum being DAWGS, for every home game. You will always enjoy being a Bulldog after your playing days are over.
All that having been said, what is there not to like. Join a winner, help win, and be happy doing it! The DAWGS want and need you. Come on up.

This guy is a beast. I was watching the game to see the recruits GA had coming in, especially the Twin City Boys, but my attenion quickly shifted to Mr. Reid. WOW! I really enjoyed seeing him make plays. My mouth is watering from the thought of watching Gregg and Brandon together. I understand he is close to the Florida border being from Lowndes but he said one thing that caught my attention. He stated he felt he represented GA real well. That speaks volumes to me. He could have easily said I tried to do my best for the team or some mumbo jumbo like that. But he mentioned his love for his home state. Continue the love Greg and stay home. Put on that Red and Black and dominate for us. The announcers were in awe of yu and mentioned how NFL scouts said you were hands down the best out there. NFL scouts. Not just college. We need you man. I can see you guys now shutting down those Lizards from the south with that girly Blue and soft Orange!! Oh and one more thing for you Ms. David. Shut the hell up! I hate reading blogs on here because of guys/girls like you! Support these kids and stop tearing them down. Damn!

Greg Reid I have something I would like to say to you. You are hands down the best all around player in High School I have seen period! I have followed HS football for 10 years all over the country and you are a cut above the rest. With that said all the schools you are considering are excellent Football Schools, I am a huge UGA fan and am praying you will become a DAWG. Good luck and no matter where you go you will be a HUGE PLAYMAKER!

Greg, I hope you read where coach Gardner said that Tenn. offered him what he wanted and more money, but he was staying at Georgia because of his respect for Coach Mark Richt, what he was doing and what he stood for.Same for coach Searles..That should tell you we have a pretty good thing going on in ATHENS and we’d love for you to be a BIG part of it Regardless of your decision—the DAWG NATION wishes you best of luck..

Dominant? What has UGA been dominant at in the last 25 years, other than gymnastics? It certainly hasn’t been football. I hope Reid enjoys his visits, and gets a good idea of what all the schools are like. But, in the end, of course, I want him to follow his heart and come back to the team he grew up cheering for… the University Of Florida Gators. Reid can be a difference maker anywhere he goes; but if he wants to be part of something truly special, he’ll go to Gainesville.

I had my doubts about this kid until I watched the game the other night. The one thing that stood out to me was his instincts to hawk the ball. It reminded me of Ed Reed for the Baltimore Ravens. If Georgia lands this kid and Marlon Brown and the big lineman, they have a chance to do something rerally special. Other teams are recruiting well. Florida USC, LSU and Texas are all getting the top players this year. Even S Carolina is doing well recruiting this year. If Georgia gets this kid, they fix their secondary for years to come. I hope they fix the DE position. Go DAwgs!

To say the least, it has been an eventful week in the life of Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes County 4-star defensive back Greg Reid. The Rivals250 member arrived in Orlando, Florida for the Under Armour All American Bowl as a commitment to the University of Florida and flying a bit under the radar as far as his ranking on the Rivals.com network is concerned.
However, in the blink of an eye, both of those circumstances were about to change.
By the end of the week not only was he no longer committed to UF - with his performance during the week of practice and in the game had put him on the fast track to a much higher national ranking.
Andrew Stanfill Greg Reid saw his stock increase significantly over the last week GatorBait.net caught up with Reid while he was on his way back home to South Georgia.
If the events of the week were weighing on him, he didn’t let it show as he laughed and joked around throughout the interview.
“When it got out (his decommitment from Florida) I had 20 missed calls and 45 messages the next morning,” said Reid with a laugh.
Reid can laugh about it now because he is leaving the pressure cooker of Orlando and heading back home where he isn’t as likely to be bombarded with fans hanging on his every move.
When he made it known he was no longer committed to the Gators, that in turn opened up a floodgate of questions.
“I had all the Florida fans asking me stuff. I tried not to talk to them because of the other stuff going on (practice, scheduled events and the game). If I could say something to them, I would just tell them to sit tight.”
Though he is no longer marked down as a Florida commitment, Reid says the Gators aren’t out of the picture, not by a long shot.
After opening things back up, he had an opportunity to speak with the Gators - actually, several of them.
“I talked to coach (John) Hevesy, coach (Urban) Meyer and the defensive backs coach (Vance Bedford),” explained Reid. “They understand where I’m coming from. I mean, it’s not like I dislike Florida or dislike the coaches or anything like that. I still feel the same about Florida, but I’m looking at my life. They basically told me to keep my head up and keep working hard.”
So where exactly does he stand at this point?
“Basically I’m going to take my visits the rest of the month. I never really looked at other schools - that’s what I’m going to do now. I don’t know who’s still in it. I know Florida is. You can say that I like them, but I’m going to take my visits.”
Those visits could start immediately or wait until he takes his first trip next weekend.
“I’d like to go somewhere this week(end) if I can set it up,” explained Reid. “I’ve got two I’m already going on. Florida next week(end) and Mississippi State on the (January) 23rd. I want to take two more.”
Moving away from the recruiting process and on to the game. Prior to arriving in Orlando, Reid told GBN his purpose was to go to Florida to represent South Georgia athletes.
He did that and more.
Usually if a player takes over a game, it is as an offensive skill position. Rarely does a cornerback do it.
Reid was asked about his performance.
“I knew the offense needed a little help because they weren’t moving the ball, so I knew I needed to make some big plays to get us in it.”
When asked about his two interceptions, Reid was quick to point out that there was more then two.
“No, I had three,” responded Reid half jokingly. “I had control of the ball when my elbow hit the ground.”
However, without instant replay he wasn’t credited with the pick in the end zone.
That was one of the few things that didn’t go his way.
After a spectacular week at Under Armour, there is a very strong chance that he may shed his Rivals250 designation. According to Rivals.com recruiting analyst Barry Every, Reid should find himself in the Rivals100 - at the very least.
“He may have had the best week of any Under Armour performer,” commented Every. “He has incredible change of direction, body control, and is a threat with the ball in his hands. He is a true cover corner who will most likely return kicks at the next level.”
When it comes time for the last round of prospect rankings, the question isn’t whether or not Reid is Rivals100 worthy, it is whether or not he can make the jump up from his current spot at No. 178 all the way to five-star status on the network.
“Reid definitely had the best week of all the defensive backs, I just worry about his academics and whether he is JUCO bound. I think he is in the Rivals100 regardless of grades. As far as moving up to five-stars, I have concerns about having a bunch of kids that may not qualify.”
As far as academics are concerned, Reid will be the first to admit that he still has some work to do, but he has been hitting the books in an attempt to dig himself out of a hole.
Reid reports that he received all B’s last semester.

As a season ticketholder at Lowndes High School, I’ve had the opportunity to watch Greg Reid at all home games the last two years, and I can assure you he has been a pleasure to watch. What a magnificent player. I’ve also been reading the AJC high school football blogs every week, and there have been very few positive comments that I recall reading about Greg or the Lowndes organization written by anyone outside of Lowndes County. I realize everyone has to support their own teams, however in my opinion neither he nor the Lowndes team have been given any respect, and very minimal mention, from the “Atlanta” crowds and newspapers unless the hard-playing of Greg and the Lowndes team forced the word “Lowndes” be printed in the sports section. And don’t forget what many Lowndes fans felt was a gross injustice in Grayson on the part of the officials that was never mentioned in the “Atlanta papers”, that I read. And I still feel that game should have been played at Lowndes. Many here feel that we’re the “other Georgia” pushed aside by the rest of the state. So my advice to Greg Reid is to go wherever is best for you. You owe UGA, or the rest of the state, nothing. UGA is a nice school, but so is UF. Athens is four hours of mostly 2-lane roads and Gainesville is 1 1/2 hours of Interstate 75. Lowndes County has many UF fans who would love to see you go there as well. But just do what’s best for you.

No, the Lowndes reference is valid. I watched the Lowndes/Grayson game and was disgusted by the conduct of most of the Lowndes players and the lack of any action by their coaches. However, unlike “The Truth’s” claim, I never did see Mr. Reid engage in any of that conduct—-if he kept his head while others around him were losing theirs, that makes him a quality person as well as a great player. Which ever school he chooses to attend will be the better for it. Take your time, Mr. Reid, and make the best choice for you and your future.

Greg Reid … a real talent and carries himself like a fine young man. One element about Georgia that is often overlooked but should not be taken for granted. In this world you find few men (and very few coaches) who are men of integrity, quality and principle. Coach Mark Richt is such a man. Who wouldn’t want their son to play for CMR? As a Christian and man of integrity, these qualities will be imparted to young men like Greg Reid and any other Georgia football recruit. Mark Richt is a Christian first and coach second. Honestly, does anyone from the AJC even monitor this crap? Some of you people need to get on with your lives. GT people you beat UGA then got destroyed by LSU, so buy a state championship Tshirt and get ready for next year. UF people you have enjoyed an awesome sports run with Hoops and football over the last few years that few schools can compete or compare with. Why would you care what GR does he needs to get his grades in line before he can go anywhere. So good luck to him and his decision.

Go to Florida, better program, hotter girls, and you won’t have to deal with every poor sport who cries in UGA loses (even though they didn’t go to school there) and acts like Mark Richt is a god when they win a game.
Plus right now at least, the Florida and Texas teams are full of studs. That’ll make Reid improve quickly, he’ll have to if he wants to play.
Glad you are from Valdosta…..Yeah Titletown!!!!!!!

wow stop and think of the possible future of UGA secondary Smith and Reid Wow can we say shut down talent…i mean really that would be one nasty defense no one would want to throw it to those two guys i think they also could be a big part of DC Willie M style of sefense he has had to work with under sized cornerbacks for a couple of years now, with that kind of speed and size it could be fun watching Go Dawgs

It’s a real easy decision for Greg…he can either wear the Orange & Blue, and go 4-0 in Jacksonville. Or, he can wear red & black and go 0-4.
I know Greg will make the right decision…

Reid should definitely go to Georgia. No worries about going to class, taking hard tests, etc. And when he gets in trouble with the law, Richt will cover it up and keep him eligible for the big games. Yes, life is nice in Athens, the University of Football!

Who would not want someone of Reid’s calibre? I am glad that he at least decided to look around. I haven’t heard anything about his academic qualifications but assuming that is not an issue I’d love to see him become a BULLDAWG.
As for the Tech fan that disguises himself as UGAY and the idiot Ramble On; you both are good examples of fans with low self esteem that comes from supporting a football program that is so low that they give their coach a 50% raise for beating Georgia for the first time in 8 years and then go out and get humiliated by a five loss SEC team (38-3). Tech is obsessed with Georgia because Georgia ownes them (see the series record);Georgia wins SEC Championships and Tech has never even won an ACC division Championship outright. And Tech regularly gets humiliated in bowl games. Basically, Tech is nothing unless they beat Georgia and their fans will tell you that. It is pitiful really. Then to show that they are morons on top of having low self esteem they call the Georgia coaching staff racist. They need some serious professional help.

I had the unique perspective of a sidelines view of Greg Reid at the Grayson/Lowndes game. Greg Reid may be the most gifted athlete I’ve ever seen with these eyes. I have never seen anyone so fast that close up before. God has blessed him with a rare gift. I hope he doesn’t f#*k it up with his attitude. Not only should he concentrate on his grades, but he should also learn some humility. His DI teammates, where ever he ends up, won’t put up with a showboating freshman doing ‘look at me’ prances after every carry or tackle and the trash talking, he’s learned is acceptable behavior playing for Coach McPherson.
I wonder if the new found interest in UGA and backing away from his Florida commitment might be a result of Urban questioning his character after seeing that game, which I understand was broadcast in Gainesville? Reid was a solid Florida commit before. I really don’t think Coach Richt will put up with that either.
I don’t buy the ‘considering UGA, in order to represent the state of GA’ crap. Gainesville is a lot closer to home than Athens.
It’s also really getting old hearing complaining and crying from people like “Lowndes Native” about the refereeing in the playoffs. They were a neutral ref crew from middle Georgia, who called a fair game. Lowndes Native says it only would have been fair if Grayson played in Lowndes with South Georgia refs. Nuf said.

I have followed Greg Reid since the TD catch at Harrison his Soph. year. I had the pleasure of presenting a photo of him breaking two tackles in the Lowndes/ North Gwinnett Championship game in 2007 in a real life Heisman like pose. I have been a Lowndes season ticket holder for almost 40 years. He is the best high school football player I’ve ever seen, and that includes Stan Rome, Robert Edwards, Takeo Spikes, and Randall Godfrey. I truly hope Greg decides to go UGA. Mark Richt is a very good man and similar to Randy Mcpherson in a lot of ways. It would really be good to cheer for Greg as a Ga Bulldawg! If he doesn’t go to UGA, he should choose Fla State or Miami. UF should be way down his list!

Then while you fumble around with the hats, have you fattest cousin drop his pants, moon the camera, with yo selection painted across his posterior. If its ugay, just paint some jail bars on his behind and everyone will know your selection.

I can not believe I just read every one of these comments. And yes, the weather does stink in B’ham.
Here is what I have gathered:
1) A lot of people can not spell. 2) Florida fans are idiots that think tradtion goes back to 1990. 3) Tech fans…congrats on beating the DAWGS for the first time since Richt got to Athens. But you are still 2nd in the state in football. Do you get a ring for that? 4) Quincy Carter black balled himself but at least he was no Reggie Ball. Phew! =) 5) I love UGA and bleed red and black but the negative comments about our coaches and players do need to stop. How can you not love CMR and what he has done for the university and the state? For the outsiders who do not know this man and his beliefs, bash someone else because he is 100% class. Can we really say that about Meyer??? 6) Would love to have GR in red and black the next few years along w/ Smith but I wish him the best in wherever he decides to go…wonder how many recruits really read all of this crap anyway? Just curious and Happy New Year.

(1) Georgia fans are rude. (2) Florida fans think they own football and can be rude. (3) Tech fans are angry with rude Georgia fans. (4) This Greg Reid kid is one that needs to be a Jacket.
There are a few exceptions to (1), (2) and (3). But no exception to (4) LOL!

It’s hard not to laugh hysterically at a comment about history from a ‘dawg’ fan. History has to go back to at least 1980 right? Here are some fun facts…
Tech wins 6 of the last 20 against UGA, and UGA fans say it’s not a rivalry. However, in that same time frame, UGA has only beaten Florida only 4 times. Florida thinks you’re a joke, UGA. I’m sure that’s hard to take.
The word in Valdosta is that Reid won’t qualify… so he definitely will be of no interest to Tech.

Geez, That UF tradition has more national titles than your dawgs. Who cares if they didnt become a powerhouse till 1990, most of the kids in this years recruiting class weren’t even born before 1990. What do they care about UGA fans bragging about games won before WWII? You have to be over 50 years old to have seen a winning record vs. UF in your lifetime.
Dawgsrule, You are clueless. The Gators have a younger team than UGA did this year and will be far from being down next season and in fact they could be better than this year. For one Tebow will be back in 09. also the Gators return the entire 2 deep from defense that held UGA without a TD until they put the 2nd and 3rd stringers in, and UGA will lose Stafford and Moreno. In addition the Gators will return in addition to Tebow, Rainey, Demps, Moody, Hernandez and Cooper who are all better than any skill position player UGA will return outside of AJ Green and oh yeah a very deep OL that led the way for the best rushing attack in the SEC.

How anybody can say we will dominate the Gators due to a few recruits is beyond me!
As far as Florida is concerned, we are like Tech. The best we can hope for is to beat the Gators once every 5 years or so.
Georgia needs to consistently out-recruit Florida year in and year out. Not happening. And in my opinion, Meyer is an elite coach with Richt just being a very good coach.
Just accept it. I have. I hate the Gators but I am not a fool. Such talk just makes them rub it in even more when they beat us.
I am disgusted about Florida’s dominance over us but have no reason whatsoever to believe that will change anytime soon. It will take Meyer leaving or a Jan Kemp-like scandal to derail the Gators.
Just being realistic.
With that being said, Greg Reid could play at Georgia quicker than Florida so if that concerns him, he should be a Bulldog and be a part of a winning program that nonetheless looses to Florida 3 out of the 4 years he is there. He can still make plenty of money in the NFL by going to Georgia. So he’ll probably be a Bulldog.

It’s funny how North Ga was trashing Reid and his teammates just over a month ago for a seemingly overblown and harmless incident.. as a Gator fan, Id love to have him & we fans can plead but understands he has to do what is best for his future.
As a sports show host, this is great debate material because both schools develop talent & make great players but lets be honest.. UGA has had very little to brag about in comparison to UF. Meyer has a nat’l title & as many SEC championships as Richt in half the time.
UF has one of America’s youngest teams & will return a slew of talent. UGA is losing Moreno & Stafford, & rumor has it Tebow is staying & Harvin’s status depends on his performance & ankle after Thursday.
Reid would get more playing time at UGA but lets face it, his style fits in perfect with Gator playcalling in all facets.
Three things are certain. 1- Whoever gets him is very fortunate. 2- He is a BIG-TIME playmaker. 3- He can’t make a “wrong decision” because he will find many positives @ UGA or UF.
Good luck in the classroom, & I hope he gets the grades needed

I guess I actually have to spell it out… Tech’s class of 2006, players that will be juniors and red-shirt sophomores next season, was ranked higher (13th vs 14th) than UGA’s. I guess I gave your reading comprehension skills too much credit (read: you’re stupid). Tech and UGA rarely compete for the same players because most of UGA’s recruits would be academic liabilities at Tech (read: no underwater basket weaving at Tech). What that means in a nutshell is that UGA, with it’s top 5 recruiting classes year in and year out, should NEVER lose to Tech and should, at worst, go 1 for 3 against Florida. That’s a poetic note though, because we know that neither are true.

Reid’s obviously a great player. Here’s hoping he qualifies and can play D1 ball netx season someplace (hopefully at UGa).
To the racist dude who posted the racist comment about Georgia: it’s you who are the racist, as evidenced by your attitude. Hard to accuse Georgia coaches/fans etc. of being racist when most of the starters on both sides of the ball are African-American, as well as half of the coaching staff and the highly-respected Athletic Director. And the biggest hero in Georgia football history is Herschel Walker, a black man.
As far as the “racism” allegations of how Georgia handled the Quincy Carter situation, all I have to say is that Qunicy made the bed he subsequently lay down in. Is the NFL racist because they banned him for substance abuse? Was Alabama racist for expelling the player who sold cocaine to his teammates?
Stop blaming racism for the failures of individuals. People are acccountable for themselves. Racism has nothing to do with it.
Finally, I would hardly call CMR’s tenure at UGA a failed one, with 83 wins in 8 seasons. I expect them to be even better next season than this year. Fans of most schools (including Tech) would sell body parts fo rthat kind of record.

I was not going to respond to this blog until I read the one that said “considering his actions in the Grayson brawl.” I guess that the writer is a little confused. I know FOR A FACT that Greg Reid did not participate in the after game brawl. He sat on the bench or stood around near the bench b/c he was told by a mentor to not get involved. Maybe the writer needs to get his/her facts straight. We are proud of Greg down here in Lowndes County. Don’t bash someone if you don’t know the truth.

If we were willing to sell a body part to have GA’s record don’t you think we would lower our academic standards to GA’s do same? Instead, we just win with a smaller budget, higher standards, smaller stadium, smarter student athletes. In general, a more respected and recognised institution in ALL aspects.

First of all congrats to GREG REID. All of us here in Lowndes County already knew that he was a special talent long before he got national exposure. Now what amazes me most is that before the nation really got to see why all us Lowndes supporters were constantly commenting on Reid no one outside of Lowndes County never had anything good to say about Reid as an athlete or as human being as far as that matters. Nearly all of the remarks about Reid were always negative remarks. Now it seems that all of a sudden some of those same people who never had anything positive to say about him are voicing their opinion on how great of an athlete he is and are praying that he signs with Georgia. Seem so strange that all the haters are such Reid fans all of a sudden when they think of the opportunity of having a kid like Reid in Athens. All i can say is that you people really need to examine yourselves. Here is a kid with tremendous talent and mostly all the post this year on the AJC blogs were negative when it came to Reid and Lowndes. The decision of what college he attends is entirely up to him. So, instead of trying to pretend that all of a sudden all you guys care so much about Reid, i just rather you say that he is a tremendous talent and wish him the best where ever he choses to go instead of trying to lure him to Georgia just because you know it will increase your chances of winning.

So Greg if by some chance you are reading any of these blogs just ignore the negative and keep doing what you’re doing. You have a bright future ahead of you. Just remember to put God first, apply yourself in school, work hard, and the rest will come. We all here at Lowndes know that you are a good kid and are very proud of you. We all are going to miss you on Friday nights but we are excited about seeing you on Saturday as well. So get out there and show them what we all have known all along. Now go make your family, community, and THE VIKING NATION proud. D-SECTION ALL NIGHT LONG

Good dawgie! Last time we went out and played in your back yard you finally learned the command “roll over and play dead”. We know how much dawgies like to please their owners and we are excited about going out to play again so you can please your new owner by learning your new command of “rolling over and playing dead” again and again and again. You such a goood little dawgie!

Announcement
Greg Reid will be making his final decision Tuesday, February 3 live at Austin’s Steak House on 2101 W Hill Ave, Valdosta, GA. If you can’t attend, you can hear it live on www.talk921.com.
This is my brother’s radio show. He had his inaugural show tonight and Greg Reid, Michael Gilliard (UGA committ), Marcus Solomon (GA State committ), and Gerald Demps (FSU committ) were the special guests. Reid did in fact say that Mike Bobo was coming down to Lowndes tommorrow to set up his official UGA visit. He also said that he intends on visiting other campuses. To be honest, my friends and I (huge UGA fans) were pressing him pretty hard once Reid commented for us to “ask him anything” but he wouldn’t budge when asked about where he’s leaning. It’s not just about football for Reid, I could see it in his eyes. He’s an 18 year old kid with the biggest decision, to this point, of his life ahead of him. He’s genuinely concerned about where he will spend the next four years of his life. He admitted that the Tuberville talk definitely had a huge impact on his decision to de-committ. As he walked out of the room, I jokingly commented for him not to swayed by the outcome of the National Championship on Thursday.

Reid is an exceptional player. He can name his ticket. I have no doubt that where ever he decides to go, he will prevail. I am so proud of his accomplishments. Grades will not be a problem because Reid knows what it takes to succeed in the classroom as well as on the football field. The one thing that a lot of people don’t know is that Reid has played the same way since his career begin in football. I have watched him from the early years in the Boys and Girls Club. He was exciting to watch then and he is still exciting to watch now. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK CUZ. If you keep God first, he will provide riches beyond your wildest dreams. I am so proud of you. Your Cuz, Roy

Well said cousin Roy. Greg is an exceptional athlete and a great kid. For all of you that came on this blog with your negative comments about his attitude, etc., you need to go somewhere else with it. None of you know anything about Greg, so stop spewing your hatred. As far as the Grayson game is concerned, I never saw Greg involved in the brawl, but if someone spit in my face, I’d be upset too. For those of you who think the refrees didn’t cheat in that game, go back and watch it on tv and you’ll see. I watched Grayson play P’Ridge the very next week, and the things that the Rams got away with in the Lowndes game, they were flagged left and right far in the P’Ridge game. That’s why they loss. Noone was trying to help them out in that game. Even in that loss, Greg still shone through as the true athlete that he is. Most of you on here making negative comments about his grades need to hush as well. Unless you have been in the records office keeping up with his grades, then you need to keep your comments to yourself. Grown folks hating on a super kid…what a shame. Greg you know what you have to do to succeed, and your motivation is high. I know that you will take care of business and do what you need to do. So go out there and put all these naysayers to rest. I’ve been a fan since you played little league at the Boys and Girls Club, and even after leaving Lowndes and moving to ATL, I have remained a fan and a follower. So, whereever you go, my family and I will follow your career and remain a fan. Put God first in your decision and he will direct your path. He will also help you overcome any obstacle that gets in your way regardless of what it is. Your destined for GREATNESS and remember: What God has for YOU, it is for YOU! Love Ya’[

We’re very proud of you here in Lowndes County. I realize that the decision is yours about which college to attend but I think if you really follow your heart it should lead you to UF (LOL). Come on dude, you have been a GATOR fan since you were a kid and you know it. Why not live out your dream? Do you realize how many kids that actually get the opportunity to play for a University like Florida. Man be a Gator if you truly want to be on a winner on a winning team. At UGA you’re only going to be a great player on a losing team. While your sitting at home watching the National Championship Game tomorrow night just imagine yourself holding that big chrystal ball with a #24 Florida jersey on withR-E-I-D on the back. Besides, Gainsville is only 1hr 45min away from home. Man you fit into Urban Meyers system. And of course he is well known for letting freshmen play if they have the skills and we all know the you possess that. So, go on up there to Athens and have your little visit but on Feb. 3 i expect you to announce that you’re going to the best school in the best conference and we all know that’s THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA. Greg, you were a winner Lowndes, and if you want to continue that winning tradition then head down I-75 south. Dude you’re a winner and if you choose UGA you’re not going to win, point blank. You’re a smart kid and i know you’re going to make the right decision. But even if for some reason you do choose UGA is the best fit for you i’ll always be cheering and praying for you. Even though i’m just a Lowndes fan I’m still very, very proud of you and wish you only the best.

I saw the game sunday and Greg Reid Is the best player in GA. Im happy to see someone from south GA get some recognition. I hope that you metro-Atlanta people will stop being so nieve and just admit that Greg Reid is way better than Brandon Smith. I mean smith made a lot of tackles because he let people catch passes. Greg Reid is the truth ask marlon brown after he burned your “Prince Kent.” Brandon Smith is OVERRATTED and you know it.

With Stafford and Moreno leaving we need Greg Reid more than ever now. This kid is awesome. Every week I saw highlights of Lowndes county games and Reid is a game breaker. When he gets in the open, nobody can catch him. I don’t know much about Branden Smith other than what I have read about him. But I have seen Reid and this kid is the best player I have seen in Georgia this year. It’s not hard to figure out why the Atlanta Constitution named him player of the year over Branden Smith. WE NEED GREG REID AT GEORGIA!!! Get on the ball Richt and Bobo!!
