Georgia Tech making late charge for Tennessee RB

Georgia Tech appears to be making a late push for Wesley Tate, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound running back for John Paul II High School in Hendersonville, Tenn.

Tate, who rushed for nearly 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns during his senior season, is in the running for one of the four unclaimed scholarship offers designated for Tech’s 2009 recruiting class.

“I’m going to officially visit Vanderbilt on Jan. 16th and Georgia Tech on the 23rd,” Tate told TnVarsity.com.

“Vanderbilt is recruiting me the hardest.”

He is the younger brother of Notre Dame receiver Golden Tate.

If you want to win this kid over, show him your cool Championship-less rings while viewing a replay of the Chick-fil-a bowl against a 5 loss SEC team. If that doesn’t work nothing will.

BugSpray I can only guess you are one of those lonely DAWG fans who can’t revel in your own teams success, instead you feel the need to bash a team that beat you in your house and won 9 games with a new head coach and defensive cord….completely new schemes on each side of the ball and they still did well….when CPJ gets his own offensive line what’s he gonna do with this offense…..like it or not things are looking up on the flats….

Bitter…I would say Tech coaches are pathetic! Lets celebrate a win over our rival by giving out rings. “We got these rings because beat UGA son, but oh yeah we got our butt handed to us 3 weeks later by a weaker LSU team”! I’m trying to think when UGA beat Fla back in ‘04 after a long losing drought (like Tech’s) I don’t think they got rings! How about getting your team focused on winning what is becoming one of the best Non-BCS bowls! Tech’s season is comparable to the Falcons. No one expected them to win as amny as they did, but they could have have capped off an awesome season with a win over another good SEC Team, instead they laid an egg.

Oh lowly dawg fans….no matter how hard you try you just can’t erase the fact that the Jackets beat your dogs this year. It happens, and it will happen with more reularity now unfortunately for you. It was nice for you that the bag man rodney garner is staying…and the funniest thing of all is that willie is getting his second raise in the off season…while other schools actually fire a guy who underperforms and go out and hire a high profile guy befitting such a fine university as yours….you give the guy two raises because somebody else got a raise…I thought you guys had a business school over there in athens…maybe you should consult them every once in a while about good business practices.

So are U[sic]GA people fans of their school or the SEC? The accomplishments of the conference mean nothing compared with head-to-head results. Get a grip dawgs.

The Tech seniors were 0-3 to U[sic]GA, and with a completely new program they beat what was arguably the BEST U[sic]GA team of the last four years. So yeah, they deserve those rings.

Pot calling the kettle black …. get the word out folks!

Let’s see, Tech beat GA on 11/29/08 to stop a 7-game losing streak (GA’s longest) in the series. An article or two in addition to countless bloggers proclaimed that GA would tie Tech’s record of 8 victories in a row, then (per bloggers) go on to 10, 11, 12, and more consecutive W’s before Tech would win again.

If Tech’s not playing for a conference or national championship then beating GA will be its signature win; same for GA. Yeah, yeah, don’t tell me GA fans about FLA being your signature win; deep down you know the truth, it’s Tech.

So, the rings are just fine with me. The seniors capped-off their careers with a great season which included beating GA. A win which ended a 7-game losing streak, and gave them their only win over GA. Something to remember I’d say. TANTAMOUNT TO GA RETIRING THERON SAPP’S JERSEY AFTER GA ENDED TECH’S 8-GAME WINNING STREAK BACK IN 1957.

So, Tech Fans make sure all your buddies who are GA fans know this. And GA fans, go back and read the 1st line of this blog.

Oh, and if you don’t know, tantamount means “equivalent in value or meaning”.

Go to Vandy you get to run the ball, catch the ball, and develop pass blocking skills and maybe actually make an NFL roster. You’ll play for a better coach too. Go to Tech, run the ball, and and and, well, maybe if you have NFL skills at all get to hang out on some practice squad because you lack the polish, technique, and passing game skills that the NFL looks for in a running back. You decide.

Dear BugSpray,

What rings are you talking about? I know we didn’t have any pre-season #1 rings made. Yall should probably get those post-season #2 in the state rings made though. Now, lets clear up a few things. When you come to lovely Bobby Dodd statdium next November, please take a look under our scoreboard. Those dates state the years we won the national championship; 5 to be exact. And I do believe our last one was much more recent than your only one, which happened in 1990. Also, ya know that trophy yall brag that guy…what was his name…oh yeah, Herschel Walker won, well it happens to be named after a man who coached our team. I think you might have heard of him, John Heisman. These are just some of the reason’s its great to be a ramblin’ wreck for Georgia Tech and a helluva an awesome asset to society.

Why does this entry even have comments enabled? From what I gather, every Tech blog, regardless of its content, degenerates into bickering between Tech and UGA fans. If it’s news, then it need not have a comments section. Unless of course you (the AJC) wants us to have to read the same old garbage comments time after time.

Georgia fans, go ahead and continue to make the same agoraphobic, computer loving jokes that you have made for years. I know you think they are still funny, and that’s fine, because we’ll continue to let you think that you had half a chance of getting into UGA. You have to get over the fact that a team from a smaller school with “weaker” recruiting classes and tougher academic requirements beat you in football this year. Sure, you stomped Tech the last 7 meetings, but unfortunately, you guys play every year. Now man up, shut up about what you did from 2001-2007, and try and start another streak next year.

Tech fans, I get it, you beat UGA this year. However, the “I’m smarter than you” jokes only play into the hands of the people you are making fun of. I also get that the rings were not because of the UGA game (look it up UGA fans), but the fact is it’s kind of silly. A win over Georgia is a win over Georgia. The great teams of the late 90’s that consistently beat the Dogs would have never done something like that. Act like it’s not a special occasion, that you can and will win again next year.

To everyone who logs on to these forums to post the same lame comments time after time, please get a life. Again, this is a recruiting blog, not a “my school is cooler than your school blog”. UGA fans, why did you even log onto here to begin with? I’m going to venture a guess and say it wasn’t to check out the future of your competition, but rather to make stupid insults to boost your ego. I didn’t attend either Tech or Georgia, but I easily could have. So go ahead, continue your barrage of insults if you desperately need the self-esteem boost. Otherwise, why don’t you do us all a favor and stay off the blogs.

For all you stupid UGA fans that keep talking about how the Tech coaches bought rings, how bout you read up on the subject before u talk about it! The Chick-Fil-A Bowl have a set amount of money to buy and give to the individual schools. The bowl decided to buy rings for the team, not the coaches!! Once again, TECH DIDNT BUY THE RINGS! so shut ur mouth, be glad yall beat mich st and get ready for next yr!

By Dawg Sniffer

For the record, the “rings” were not given solely for the accomplishment of beating UGA. They were gifts given to the team for going to a bowl and the seniors decided that the final score would be part of the design. They would have gotten the rings regardless of the UGA win or not. So quit thinking you are so awesome that whenever anyone beats you they need to celebrate with a ring. The UGA win was a goal for this team in 2008 and they accomplished that goal. I would be proud too. Hell, I am proud.

The Tech fans are happy we beat ugag (but hey you did slow down our passing attack). Make no mistake about this, we do not hope to beat you in future years. WIth CPJ at the helm we EXPECT to beat you.

The unavoidable truth, and you know it is true, is that Tech would have won at least 3 of the prior 7 had Chan been somewhere else. Had Chan been at ugag, like he almost was, we may have repeated the 8 game streak which is, for those of you nadlickers who failed history, the longest streak in the series.

Any way you tools try and spin it you still gave your team championship-LESS rings with the 3 point UGA score engraved on them. That’s as douchebag as you get little fellas.

LOL, riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Tech can’t even beat a 5 loss SEC team in their own backyard. A team that UGA drilled in their own stadium.

Johnson is a fraud and already exposed. It took Richt 8 years to lose to his first ACC team. Johnson lost to an SEC team in his first season. Richt won the SEC in his second season. Johnson will never win the pathetic ACC.

I see comments like “act like you’ve been there” and “as douchebag as you get” coming from certain fans. Are these the same fans of the team that took a team penalty for scoring a touchdown against a certain team from further south?

Is that what you mean by “act like you’ve been there” and “douchebag as you get”?

Thought so.
