Georgia State has first football recruit enroll in school

Georgia State’s football program welcomed its first scholarship student-athlete in Mark Hogan, Jr., who began classes at the Atlanta campus on Monday.

Kickoff for the Panthers is still 18 months away, but the team, coached by Bill Curry, will begin practicing this fall.

Hogan, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound wide receiver/running back from Lincoln-Sudbury High School in Sudbury, Mass., was Georgia State’s second commitment. Defensive lineman Eduardo Curry of Charleston, S.C. was the first.

As a senior, Hogan accounted for 1,500 yards of offense with 12 touchdowns. He has rushed for over 2,600 and scored 41 touchdowns in his high school career.

Hogan is the son of Mark Hogan, Sr., who started at safety for Georgia Tech under Curry’s 1985 “Black Watch” defense. Hogan plans to major in Business at Georgia State.
