WR Marlon Brown shows explosiveness in all-star game

Wide receiver Marlon Brown of Memphis, who is coveted by UGA, had one of the most exciting plays in the Sunday night’s Under-Armour Bowl.

The 6-foot-5 Brown got a few steps ahead of Norcross defensive back Prince Kent (committed to Miami) on a slant pattern, caught the ball and raced 71 yards for a touchdown.

Carver-Atlanta safety Darren Myles Jr. tried to provide backside help, but was barely late in the play. Myles then accelerated in an effort to make the tackle, but did not gain any ground as the speedy Brown was in full stride towards the end zone.

Brown is UGA’s No. 1 target at wide receiver. Tennessee appears to be the team to beat for Brown, who has visited Athens twice and built a close relationship with another UGA recruit, QB Aaron Murray of Tampa, Fla.

Brown also has Ohio State and Florida as his finalists, and will announce his college decision on Feb. 4.

If the bulldogs want Rodney Garner to stay they will have to pay him more. The vols have offered him more money. If he is looking to go somewhere else he must not be happy at Georgia because of their defensive coach. Your are losing your running back and quarter to the pro’s. Why stay??????????????

Because UGA is a stable environment. The desperation coming out of Ufk right now is hilarious. They are talking about paying Coach Garner over $400 k to be a RB coach. He makes $250 now as Asst Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at UGA.

Kiffin has never done squat, simply ridden his daddy’s coattails, and he is in way over his head now. Three years max and Ufk will be looking again.

BTW, UGA’s backup QB and RB are better than what Ufk will have next year.

Looking at Georgia’s schedule, next year will be very interesting. They start off at Okl State and if our defense is as poor next year as it was this year, that game could get ugly. For the most part I think the dawgs will do suprisingly well next year. the expectation level wont be as high as it was this year and think about how great the offensive line can be if everyone returns healthy. I think Samuels is going to be a stud at running back and Caleb King will learn how to block between now and spring practice because he didnt play much at all after the ZFlorida dobacle. Assumming Stafford and Knowshon leaves, Joe Cox will be the starter because Mark Ricy believes in rewarding a guy who waits his turn like Shockly. I think Joe has the arm, and accuracy to be a facilitator behind the huge offeinsive line. We will see. I am excited about next year.

If Brown is smart, he will come play for the Dawgs, opposite AJ Green. With Green being double covered constantly, the field should open up nicely for Mr. Brown to make some pretty big plays. Come Don the Red and Black Marlon, you wont regret it!

DawgFan24, that’s right. Green and Brown sounds like a winning combination with a guy like Aaron Murray. The running game will always be there for UGA but a passing attack like that will be fun to watch. Wouldn’t want to mix those two colors though.

Joe, the last article I read was that they wanted CRG as their O Line coach. Don’t know who’s correct but anyway. And tallpaul, this is not the NFL. Every team only gets to use their players for 3 or 4 years. That is life in college football. Look at what UGA has coming in to replace those guys though. There’s plenty of reason for CRG to stay put if UGA coughs up the money. If he leaves for UT it may be because he’ll have fewer responsibilities for the same or similar money. Holding three titles at UGA right now doesn’t sound fun.

For what it is worth, Alabama wants Marlon Brown opposite Julio Jones next year. Info coming out of Memphis is that Tuscaloosa is close and a good fit for him and UT is not in the mix any longer.

Their red-shirt QB, Star Jackson, is suppose to be perfect for the spread.

UT not in the mix? What are you smoking? UT heads his list of choices and he is going to voice that in early Feb. There is a reason UT is considered “wide recevier U”….and Marlon Brown knows it. He’ll make the right choice.

Marlon, Why go to UT? I would assume you have graduated from High School once why do it over? Really, who is UT’s QB? What kind of new offensive scheme are they going to be implementing over the next two years? (If it works). Come to a stable program with established QB’s that will be busting it to WR’s that can fly. Look at AJ Green. We have the arms in Athens.

Word is that OSU is leading for this guy, spent a lot of time in Orlando hangin’ with Duron Carter and other OSU recruits. Who knows if that means anything.

UT wide receiver “U”. That’s funny. I think Miami, Florida, USC, FSU, etc…would be wide receiver “U” before Tenn. Your delusional. Who in the hell would throw to Brown if you got him? UGA’s got top ranked QB’s standing in line, and an All-America to be receiver on the other side. Go Dawgs!!

tennessee will never be worst in the sec, never have and never will be. only 1 bad year and now your saying that we will be the worst in the sec for a long time? give me a break kid, weve got a great defense, and that might be an understatement, our qb situation is shaky but dave clawson was calling the plays, he would call a run on 3rd and 13 and a pass on 3rd and an inch, weve got a great staff coming in, with kiffin, his dad, ed orgeron, i mean hes stacking it up, kiffin recruited matt leinart and reggie bush, and look how they did. yea he went to oakland and didnt do great, but they had their owner on the sidelines calling the plays, you cant have that. kiffin is a great fit for UT, hes got the talent and the enthusiasm which is what the vols need. the day he was hired he went to marlon browns house and talked to him, marlon loves kiffin and he knows he will be more than a receiver when he goes to UT. maybe the next percy harvin? hes got the speed. and the agility. his final visit is to UT on Jan 30th, so im sure we can make him pick UT! o by the way, uga sucks, and will suck all next year, their defense sucks and youve lost most of your talent. its hard to recruit a knowshon and stafford all over again. UT 38 uga 14. im callin that one
