Tucker’s Deion Roberson is hot commodity among major colleges

Tucker linebacker Deion Roberson has a busy week ahead of him on his return to school after the holiday break.

Recruiters from four schools - Wake Forect, West Virginia, North Carolina State and Louisville - will be in town for some face-to-face visits, he said. Wake, which “came out of nowhere” to make an offer before the holidays, is scheduled to visit with the family at Roberson’s home Monday evening.

Then, the 6-foot-3, 258-pound linebacker will make an official visit to North Carolina State this weekend. He has an official visit to West Virginia the following weekend; Roberson had to cancel a previous visit to Morgantown.

He admits he’s a little nervous about the week, with about a month to go before national signing day, but he plans to “be myself and let everything flow.”

He says he’ll take two more official visits, perhaps to Wake Forest and maybe Michigan State or Maryland, before signing day. He says he probably won’t decide which school until then. “I gotta make sure it’s the right one,” he said, adding that “everyone is still in play.”

Roberson has already taken an official visit to Louisville, which he did just before Christmas. Roberson also has been offered by Memphis, East Carolina, Iowa State, Georgia Southern and South Alabama. Georgia recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner has kept in contact with Roberson but not offered a scholarship.

Roberson had a season-ending ankle injury in Tucker’s opening game.
