Aaron Murray, UGA’s top recruit, will arrive in Athens on Sunday
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Quarterback Aaron Murray, UGA’s most celebrated recruit for its 2009 football recruiting class, will arrive in Athens on Sunday.
“I can’t believe everything is happening so quickly, time is flying by,” Murray said. “I can’t wait to get to Georgia and begin college. I’ve been waiting a long time for this moment.”
Murray participated in Saturday’s U.S. Army All-America Bowl in San Antonio.
Sunday schedule’s for Murray looks like this: Fly out of Texas to Atlanta, where he will meet his parents and two siblings. The family will then make the one-hour drive to Athens to move Aaron into his dorm. Murray said his roommates will likely be two other recruits who decided to enroll early at UGA, Buford lineman Dallas Lee and Oconee County quarterback Zach Mettenberger.
On Monday, Murray will meet with UGA’s academic advisors to pick classes. On Thursday, Murray will officially begin his first day of college.
Murray is one of the nation’s top college prospects, committing to Georgia over 53 scholarship offers. However, he has already approached near-legendary status in the Bulldog Nation for recovering from a broken leg in two months to lead his team to Florida’s Class AAAA state championship. Murray played for Tampa’s Plant High.
How is the leg? Murray said he is at about “90 percent,” and hopes to be fully recovered by next month. He said he intends to participate in all of UGA’s spring practices.
“My leg was fine in the [Army game]. But I’m still not able to run around and move the pocket like I was before [the injury]. It’s going to take some time. I have to learn to trust my leg. That’s the final 10 percent, learning to trust my leg again. It will happen in time. I just have to be patient.”

Excellent! He’s going to be a great QB for the DAWGS, hopefully he can take us to the next level (National Championships)! UGA is a true dynasty, and this proves that we just “reload” now, no more rebuilding — just reload! So much depth, that is how you measure a great program! We’ll look back on this past year’s SNAFUs as lessons learned — like the one to the “Nancy Boys from North Avenue.” Hey, everybody gets lucky now and again, and it IS good for the rivalry ( it was getting OLD slapping them around every November — once a decade is an acceptable ratio … I guess) … God I hate GT!

What good is going to do when you get a great offense and have a terrible defense. Defense is what wins games (see 2008). Our defense is “hurting for certain” with Willie Martinez at the helm (or is that asleep at the wheel?). Promote Garnder and reassign Willie to assigning seats at Sanford (which he might be able to do). At the end of 2009 everyone will be saying, “Why didn’t CMR get rid of Martinez”? It’s past time for Willie to go. Doesn’t performance (loses big three games with over forth points scored against dawgs) mean anything or is loyalty, friendship and coaches relationship mean more to CMR than the overall good of the Georgia football program?
Many say the fans are after Willie … we are. It’s just not going to work with Willie. The handwriting is on the wall. The only trouble is that CMR won’t read it. The dogs will only go in 2009 if Willie Goes… Willie must go and go soon.
If he were an honest and classy guy … for the good of the program … he would resign with class rather than being fired after the end of a disappointing 2009 season.

Jimmy get off it already. Willie is here to stay. If you watched the Cap one bowl then you saw a very good defensive effort. The defense is very capable. I’m not a huge Willie fan but he’s the one we’ve got and are gonna have. I have come to believe that all the injuries are the true culprit for the season we had. Let’s hope next year is better in that department. Aaron Murry, welcome to Athens. We’re very excited to have you. Good luck.
By some sense

Oops, ya did it again, Mike. You write a nice, informative, upbeat piece, and all ya really did was let the rednecks out.
Fire Willie, burn his house, stapmpede his wife and children, burn his crops, salt his fields.
Ain’t gonna happen, guys. CWM is the once and future DC of the Georgia by-God Bulldogs.
Go root for Clemson or Auburn…’cause that’s who you sound like.

From watching him play yesterday, he should redshirt for sure, regardless if Staff leaves.

Reading these posts tells me that for a country going through an economic recession you people sure do have a lot of free time on your hands. Of course, even when the economy was good you people took way too much time to pontificate over issues that absolutely no one else could give a penny’s worth of care about. Does the AJC pay you to write these notes? Or, are you independently wealthy and have nothing else to do with your lives? Football season is over, the coaches get paid to worry about it, go out and do something with your lives to prove that your college education—-if you have one—-was worth the money you spent on it.

When Gator and Jacket fans have to publicize how much better their teams is than yours, it means you have a good team. Win, lose or draw…all teams bank their season on whether or not they win or lose against UGA. If they are having a lousy season and beat UGA, then they are turning things around. If they are having a great season and beat UGA, that usually means a team is headed for a huge bowl game, SEC champ game etc. That was the case this year, all three teams that beat UGA defined their seasons doing so..all three teams spent their off seasons with signs in weight rooms and circled the UGA game, UF did, Alabama did and so did Tech. That is when you know you are not liked, but respected as a football team with talent. You either show-up and kill UGA or they will beat you. IF UGA defined their seasons the same way, then they would be an Alabama, UF or USC year end and year out.

Mutt Fans Can you smell what we’re brewing down on the flats? Coach Johnston is building a powerhouse and you’re in our way. Prepare for a beatdown each and every year.
Murray, come on over to Tech were you can learn a real man’s offense and get yourself ready for the next level. Don’t waste your time at the cesspool getting your butt beaten.
Josh the Robot Nesbott is young but he’ll teach you everything you need to know. It starts with 45 points a game.
Either you’re with us or you’re against us. Make your choice.

Festus, you’re grammar is amazingly poor. I do question you educational achievement. When I watch these young men start hitting each other with footballs, I tend to close my eyes and recite pi. It relaxes me. But I do see how a man of your intelligence - and I jest as I type that - would enjoy this drool sport. I prefer cricket with my fellow engineer students. The smell of curry is in the air. Gentlemen, let’s smack a wicket!

Jabster:
One would think that when you sing the praises about your second-rate team on the internet for the whole world to see, you could at least correctly spell your quarterback’s name.
Guess not.
How’s that GTU degree working out for you?

ok i believe garner is better than willie… but we have lost 24 playeers to season ending injuries…. so after 8 games mark pulled full contact practices… thats why the d started to slip.. thet forgot how to tackle… we have the talent… curren, allen, ellerbe, gamble, dent, irvin, jones tyson…. for the bowl game we went back to taackling in scrims and it payed off… we just got to remember to keep that in mind… oh and i cant wait for branden smith to get there!!!!!
