Washington WR Antonio Goodwin has early UGA offer

Booker T. Washington junior wide receiver Antonio Goodwin’s lone scholarship offer happens to be from one of his four front-runners.

“My favorites are Georgia, Clemson, Florida State and Florida,” said the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Goodwin, who holds his only offer from the Bulldogs.

“I like Georgia. I really like their football program.”

Goodwin is being courted by Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU and Oregon. Goodwin played this past season at Washington with defensive back Branden Smith, who is coveted by UGA.

He recently received an invitation to attend junior day at Tech on Jan. 31.

If the Jackets offer Goodwin, they’ll need to convince him he’ll have a chance to be a playmaker in coach Paul Johnson’s triple-option offense.

“Wherever I go, I want to get the ball,” Goodwin said.

Come to UGA. You could be a star for years to come. Do you really think you will get many catches at Tech?

If i was a tech fan (NVJacket) i would be really mad because it seems as if every big time recruit never considers GT (See Branden Smith). Enjoy your “big time” recruits who UGA doesn’t even off (aka Stephen Hill) while UGA enjoys National All Americans (AKA Aaron Murray). GO DAWGS!

I like kids to say “wherever I go I want to win” but he has NFL dreams and seems pretty honest.

the only game that matters is your last game and the next game. You will have to wait until November 2009 for your next beating at our hands.

Like to block 9 plays out of 10 or get throw to 5 out of 10. Seems like an easy decision kid. Nationally televised games on saturday or night games on thursday while everyone else parties. Tough choice.

When does Georgia Tech play their Bowl Game?

By Larry

January 1, 2009 11:34 PM | Link to this

hiveredtech,

It goes to show why Tech fans want to remember only the last game played. It is because Tech has been irrelevant in the UGA-GT rivalry for the past twenty years.

Next time, before ordering rings for a win in 1 game, try not embarrassing yourself in a bowl game.

Tech = pathetic

we ordered fries with our dinner not rings. you have rings on the brain bubba.

wipe the drool of your face and clean your ears please.

btw some of your fellow fans missed the toilet. so i guess you better grab a mop n bucket again. oh you might as well replace the toilet paper roll too as its a bit low.

such is the life of a uga grad.

38-3

Enjoy your rings Tech. Tech fans need something to keep them happy. Maybe the rings will soften the blow of losing thier bowl game to a mediocre team (at home).

P.S. Enjoy your 1 & 2 star recruits

These tech folks crack me up. They beat us for the first time in 8 years and they go buy jewelry to remember it. Of course lots of teams do that when they win a regular season game.

Oh, wait a minute, NO ONE does that.

When you win a regular season game, act like you’ve done it before and that you just might do it again, sometime soon. Don’t embarass yourselves, your program and your school buy buying a ring.

Did I mention that NO ONE Does that? So embarrasing.

PS - Why would any quality WR want to go to a team that only throws the ball, on average, like 15 times??? Do the math.

HBTD!!!!

If your goal is to catch 80 balls a year, then GT may not be the place to do it. If your goal is to go get your A%$ whipped in Jacksonville and alternately in Athens and Atlanta, then UGA may be for you.

Regarding the rings you pinheads keep carping about, you do realize the school you root for actually retired a slob’s jersey for scoring a touchdown to beat GT. Talk about cheesey!!!

Why would any receiver want to go to Tech? Tech is a fine school but that passing offense is a horrible scheme for a playmaking receiver.

Receiver at Tech = a Blocker at Tech

If Ga. would have been invited to play a bowl game against a team that mattered (they weren’t), after that ugly first half Ga. played against Mich St who actually made Ga’s defense look good (imagine that!), but against a team that mattered the score would have been “Somebody that mattered” 28 Dawgs 0 at half time. Become relevant again Dawgs and then maybe you will have a little bite with your bark.

Issuing team rings commemorating a regular season win right before getting humiliated in your bowl game. Wow, which brain farting rocket scientist on the coaching staff came up with that gem of an idea?

to hmmm, bite in the bark huh?? Still got a 10 win season (7 out of 8 for CMR) and won a New Years day bowl game, How did that LSU game turn out? HMMM, I wonder?? Face it, Tech beat UGA when they only had 19 players on Injured reserve and projected starters missed a total of 50 games, and remember your supposedly good def still gave up 42 points. Yup Tech is too much! The triple option won’t work next year, You will see, have fun losing in the ACC next year

The rings were a gift that CPJ gave the team as he has done for teams in the past commorating a successful season. Don’t worry people have been saying CPJ’s offense won’t work for years and guess what?? He keeps on proving them wrong. Oh and OUCH Tech had just as many injuries as UGAY did so that excuse won’t fly!!! I’ll admit LSU played a great game so we got beat. That beating was no worse than the ones UGAY took from Alabama or Florida.

Georgia is soo in the Tech nerd heads it is not even funny. Paul Johnson was classy when he took the HC job at Yech. It is amazing how a person (PJ) can change and become like the majority of Tech losers - spineless and pathetic. The gnats have only won against UGA 4 times in the last 18 games - 77.8 % of the time Yech loses. Rivalry, in your wet dreams. 3 of those wins were with academically ineligible players (10) and big O’Liar as the coach. Every team that Yech plays next year will be using the tape of the LSU 38-3 BEATDOWN as a example of how to stop that Mickey Mouse gimmick of an offense. Go play for a team in the SEC not the Div I- AA wannabe ACC.
