Cairo teammates consider playing together at Georgia Tech

Cairo senior quarterback Angelo Pease turned in one of the best senior seasons in state history: He threw for 19 touchdown passes, with only interception, while leading the Syrupmakers to the Class AAA championship.

How did it affect Pease’s recruiting? He already had scholarship offers from Troy, Alabama-Birmingham, and Georgia Southern. Now he is waiting to hear back from Georgia Tech, South Florida, Clemson and Auburn - who have all informed Pease he is under scholarship consideration.

“They haven’t offered a scholarship yet but I think they are right on the verge,” said Pease, who stands 5-foot-10, 190 pounds.

“Some look at me as a quarterback and some others as an athlete. I would like to get a shot to play quarterback.”

And if things fall right, Pease could even join Cairo teammate, tailback Reginald Bryant next fall. Bryant has been offered by Georgia Tech and South Florida.

“If not with Reginald, I could even maybe go to Troy and play with [another Cairo teammate] Montavious Williams,” Pease said.

I was at the Dome for the finals and Pease was very impressive. Wherever he goes, he will be a player.

If Pease and Bryant both go to Tech; I will be a Jacket fan for the next 4 to 5 years. This coming from a huge DAWG fan.

It would be an outstanding coup for Tech, if both Pease and Bryant opted to play for the Jackets. One of the proven recipes for success in college ball is teammates who have played together for several years prior to college.

It would indeed make things interesting if both Pease and Bryant decide to come to Tech. Their opponent in the class AAA finals was Flowery Branch, and we’ve already got Daniel Drummond and Izaan Cross coming to Tech from that team. Furthermore, Jaybo Shaw and his younger brother Connor are also from Flowery Branch. Jaybo has already demonstrated his worth this season, and Connor has been offered a scholarship by the Jackets as well. It looks like CPJ could end up having great success in recruiting some of the most effective teammates in the state over the past few seasons.
