Centennial DE Cummings can be impact player at Georgia Tech, says coach

Centennial coach Jeff Measor said his defensive end, Euclid Cummings, who recently committed to Georgia Tech, has potential to be impact player in college, despite having only two seasons in the sport.

That’s pretty high praise from Measor, who once coached with Steve Spurrier at University of Florida.

“He never quits on a play,” Measor said. “He’s a good pass rusher off the corner. He’s going to be an ‘edge pass rusher.’”

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Cummings picked Tech over Tennessee, Duke, South Carolina and North Carolina. His only official visit was to Georgia Tech. He also garnered moderate interest from Georgia and Florida. Measor said the Yellow Jackets urged his The Georgia 150 player to commit because they had their eye on two other defensive ends who likely would commit if Cummings didn’t.

Cummings finished his senior season at Centennial (3-7) with 45 tackles, including four for losses, and had eight sacks. He blocked a punt and recovered two fumbles, in addition to forcing six others. Measor said Cummings has the athleticism for even greater statistics, provided he gains greater football sense in college.

“The game needs to come natural to him, which it doesn’t yet,” Measor said. “He needs to better understand situations, like not coming off the edge too fast on third-and-3 because somebody’s going to kick him out. He has to know the nuances of the game, and when to pass rush and when to not to.

1st. Again I ask why this is on the UGA board. We wish the best to Euclid, but this is not a UGA recruiting post. We did not offer him a scholly and feel no need to be constantly updated on a kid not coming to us.

Paddy & pat, I did not access this page through another link, I accessed it through the UGA page. I do not want to waste time seeing how many pages are linked to a particular story. I don’t think it was I who “muffed” this one, I think the AJC is just being lazy as to what they link their articles.
As I stated above, I wish the best to the kid, but I do not wish to be constantly updated on him.

Hey SEC fan, You are a retard. Stop posting. You make us UGA fans look like idiots. Figure out how that magical computer box works. Figure out how internet links work and how recruiting article work for AJC.
Fking retard. Why don’t you go wash your mouth out with a revolver. GO DAWGS!

Never thought I’d say this, but for once I agree with a UGA fan, UGAfan’s post is right on. We always have posts on recruits we haven’t offered, aren’t interested in, or are already committed elsewhere. He was once a target of UGA, although not a priority, he was still a target. Get over it, you really think your the only one who sometimes has the inconveniance of reading about another teams recruits linked in your page? Go Jackets

I don’t believe for one minute that UGAfan is in fact a UGA fan. These post are absolutely asinine and all I say is THWGT.

SEC Fan can’t stand reading anything about Tech now. Hope you enjoyed your recent games in Athens. We did. By the way SEC fan. Two things!

Did you check the ACC’s out of conference record vs. the SEC this year?

And where did that Sports Illustrated article have UGA ranked? Was that one spot below Tech?

The kid has played football 2 years and is simply not that good that good yet. Maybe in a few years, but he is a project, plain and simple.

The fact that he was not that good a high school football player had little impact on the “experts” who select the AJC all-state teams. There are dozens of more deserving players to make honorable mention, but it would be embarrassing for Tech to sign a player who didn’t even make honorable mention all state, so the AJC complied.

The AJC needs to change the name of its team to the all-prospect team, not the all-state team, because that’s what it is.

Hey Euclid, if you’re in a hurry to get your bowl game over with so you can make sure to have PLENTY of time on hand to celebrate your New Year with friends instead of teammates, then by all means go to an ACC team, LOL!!! The best year the ACC has ever had, EVER, and they will have already completed 6 bowl games before the first SEC team even takes the field. LOL!!! What a pathetic conference!!!

After reading these posts, the only one making sense was SEC Fan, he didn’t attack anyone. He only stated that the ajc is lazy by linking a totally unrelated story to the Georgia recruiting board. You attacked him and called him a retard, I think the pot is calling the kettle black, an the ones calling someone a retard should look in the mirror.

First of all everyone get a grip and get back to what this post is about! Euclid might pan out in D1, but as a Senior this year he played his position very undisciplined and was handed his lunch by a few lineman that are being told they are not D1 potential (???). I would say that 50% of this can be attributed to his coaching staff at Centennial.
