Georgia Tech puts the pressure on M.L. King’s Joel Kight

Less than two weeks after receiving a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech, M.L. King running back/linebacker Joel Kight is on the recruiting hot seat.

The Jackets have told him the offer might be withdrawn unless he commits soon. But Kight says he has no plans to commit to any program until he visits Ole Miss on Jan. 16.

“They want me to commit, but I still want to take my other visit [to Ole Miss],” said Kight, who confirmed Tuesday evening that he is still considering Boston College, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss.

“But I understand that [Tech] must do what’s best for their team.”

Kight, who took an official visit to Tech last weekend, is being recruited by the Jackets as an athlete.

GT is not pressuring the kid to commit. They’re just being upfront with him is all. I’m sure they have other players that are interested in the scholarship, so GT can’t risk losing out on a good prospect while they wait for this kid to make up his mind. Not having enough scholarships to offer creates predicaments such as this.

I would like to see some OL’s myself. Also, when do we get to blog about the BB team? I’ve got a few things to say about CPH and they are not flattering.

Big Bug:

The BB blog starts on January 2nd, once the CFA bowl is over. It will continue until spring practice and the return of CPJ.

Does anyone have an idea of how many OL/DL were red-shirted this season?

Well said, Jaded Jacket! Joel Kight is a fine young man and we should want what is best for him. I’d prefer to see him playing for the Jackets but if he feels he will have better opportunities elsewhere, that opens up an opportunity for another young man to come to Tech.

BobinBuford,

Of the scholarship players, I believe that we redshirted two OL and two DL this year. There were also a couple of preferred walkons redshirted as well.

Mr. Kight run away! The other programs that have offered have a much better upside. Turn away from the dark side and you will be rewarded with playing for a championship

Jacket Hater,

Please stop as my stocking is already full. Let’s see:

  • 45 - 42
  • ACC winnings record versus SEC
  • Ugay fans like you posting on Tech recruiting sites
  • Santa has been very generous to GT fans this year. Merry Christmas.

LOL @ UGA Hater. Congrats on your win this year. I can understand that it’s not a feeling that you used to.

    2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007

Try winning eight in a row vs the Dawgs or maybe even two. Seven years in a row!!! Congrats on ending the seven year streak though. I used to pull fot GT but these silly fans have made it hard, you win ONE game versus UGA since 2000 and now all of a sudden there’s a huge power shift. LOL Please.
