Centennial DE Cummings cancels UGA trip, commits to Georgia Tech
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
On the day that Centennial defensive end Euclid Cummings was scheduled to be at Georgia, he ended up committing to Georgia Tech.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Cummings picked the Yellow Jackets over North Carolina. Both UGA and Florida had shown moderate interest in Cummings, but neither school has extended scholarship offers.
It was an easy decision for Cummings, who was still on an emotional high after making a recruiting trip to Tech last weekend.
On Thursday, he decided he couldn’t wait any longer to commit to Tech. He canceled his trip to Athens, and got Jackets coach Paul Johnson on the phone to break the news.
“When I went on my official visit last weekend, I just felt like Georgia Tech is where I belong,” he told the AJC. “I feel like I fit in with the team really well.”
It was quite a coup for the Yellow Jackets, who also hope to land Flowery Branch defensive end Izaan Cross when he takes his official visit to Tech this weekend.
Defensive lineman are in short supply this year. Florida and Georgia had traveled to Centennial to request film on Cummings, with the Bulldogs inviting him to attend Thursday’s football practice for the bowl game.
UGA is actively pursuing several other defensive ends, including Pernell McPhee of Itawamba Junior College

Now I know that you are just stirring the pot. I am not a UGA homer, but I know recruiting, and UGA was only in contact with Euclid, not much more than that. UGA is after Montez Billings, Pernell McPhee, Leon Mackey, and to a lesser extent Jason Pierre Paul at DE. It is a thin year at the position across the country… but it is said players or bust for UGA. Before everyone not in the know gets sucked in, I figured I would let everyone in on the TRUTH first.

I love it how the article changes as the UGA fans begin to make their snide comments about Georgia not wanting Euclid in the first place.
You know what guys, most GA Tech fans, who have nothing negative to say about any players who decide to go to UGA. Why is it that MOST UGA fans see fit to criticise virtually ALL players who decide to play somewhere else?
The bottom line is Euclid is a great kid with a lot of upside and the Jacket nation is very excited about having him join the family. We could care less what UGA fans, or any other other for that matter, think about it, because we think we’ve gotten ourselves a diamond in the rough, much like Vance Walker was. Nobody thought much of Vance either, but I bet a lot of teams would love to have him now.
Euclid, welcome to the Flats! We look forward to seeing you donning the white and gold on Grant Field, and your family in Bobby Dodd Stadium, for the years to come! Welcome to the family!

UGA fans did not say anything negative about the kid. A simple fact was stated, UGA did in fact not offer Euclid a scholly. So, the headline is misleading. To say that he picked Tech over Georgia when UGA didn’t offer him is bad journalism.
You need to separate the facts from opinions before you go off on your rant.

The article didn’t say he spurned the Dogs; it said in the headline that he’d cancelled his UGA trip. Then in the article body it said Georgia had only shown moderate interest and had not offered a scholarship. It’s not written as Tech beating out Georgia for some big recruit; it’s about a kid being excited about going to Tech. Get a grip, folks.

Y’all sure are a lot more sensitive this month than you were last month.
It doesn’t matter. as the old saying goes, Johnson could beat Richt using his own players or Johnson could beat Richt if they swapped players. The difference is coaching vs. rahrah crap.
I believe our offense works especially well against mentally slow players, oops, trouble for your guys.

Who is Willie Martinez trying to recruit? Where is he involved in this year’s effort? Why don’t the AJC show who’s involved with which recruits. Who would want to play for the worst defensive coach in America? It’s going to be a long season in 2009 … more of the same old same old same old with the same old coach doing the same old thing with the same old players. I doubt if we’ll get anyone who will change the play at defensive end next year. Willie knows he needs to go.

To those above please note. You cannot and never should you try to reason with a Dawg Fan. Anybody that chooses Georgia Tech, they never wanted. Anybody that chooses Georgia Tech, couldn’t play at Georgia. ANYONE! They do and always have believed that they are somehow vastly superior as human beings and coolness. Hail to the Mighty Dawg Nation. Hail to the loftiness of your football program. Hail to Mark Richt, a good man, a good man that just loves him some Crank Dat. Georgai is the one and only.

Dawg Man, did you even watch the game that year? Ball didn’t “spike” the ball. He threw it out of bounds with Pollack in pursuit. Dumb play, indeed but at least get it right. Tech signs 3-4 star recruits and they get coached up. UGA signs 5-star recruits and they get locked up.

C’mon techies…..u can chant all that “georgia superior” garbage, because of your MASSIVE inferiority complex, but if anyone is unreasonable, it’s you guys. You guys get players we want (Dwyer), but this headline is laughable. This guy TRULY was not a target for Georgia. He just wasn’t. Sorry. No conspiracy here, he didn’ choose you guys over UGA because he was not OFFERED by UGA. We have at LEAST 3 other DEnds (as mentioned above) ahead of this guy. I guess he chose a scholarship from Tech over being a walk-on at UGA. But if it helps you sleep at night thinking he picked you guys over us, then sleep tight little ones…….fiction can be fun, but I prefer the reference section

Fun day at the AJC: Throw out a headline like “DE cancels Georgia trip, chooses GT” (the reverse would have worked just as well), throw some popcorn in the microwave, then sit back and watch the fireworks. Now, UGA MAY have made an offer after his visit, yet according to this headline he made a choice, but a choice involves two things from which to choose, and he only had one choice in this case, at this time!

**Very true…you know, maybe the Tech folks are right. We should have more headlines like that. The headline should have read, “Paul Johnson picks Tech head coaching position over Southern Cal job.” And he also chose Cannongate Golf Membership over Augusta National Membership. Makes total sense. Again, if it gives you guys warm and fuzzies, then no problem. We wanted this guy BADLY and he picked yall. Nice work.

“DE picks Tech over Dogs”
This kid seems to have the brains necessary to be one of the few that might actually graduate from the Tech athletic program. Let’s review this incredible decision making process. He is offered a full scholarship to Tech, he’s not offered anything at all to UGA. At Tech, he will get a shot at playing time. At UGA, he might be given a shot to walk-on, and a very long shot at working his way on to the team, up the depth chart, and on to the field for any playing time. Which would you pick? I’ll take the nothing from UGA over the $80,000 paid education (or whatever it costs now) from Tech. There is no decision, there is no choice. He picked Tech over no other option.
Not trying to pick on this kid, I’m sure he’s a good kid & I hope he does well at Tech, but this is just another example of poor journalism from the AJC (but don’t know why I’d expect anything different from them).

I’m glad Tech fans are enjoying this year’s victory. And take all the shots at Willie you want. That’s fine. He’s 7-1 against you guys coaching on the defensive side. When you only win once in 8 years, you start dreaming big. It’s understandable. UGA UPGRADES at every position next year, especially O and D lines. Still the ??? at RB and QB waiting on decisions there, but it will be a BEAT-DOWN in the flats next year. Just remember I told you.

All I got to say is welcome to the Tech nation young man. I think you will be glad you came tho Tech. You are going to get a great education and are going to play for one of the very top coaches in college football. It is a great family and if Ga didn’t actively recruit you they probally didn’t think you were jail material. Good luck to you and remember what these Ga fans said about you next yeear when you pound thier guy’s heads into the ground at Grant Field next year!

Oh my, listen to the whining Dawg fans —just listen to them. Get used to it boys because you’re going to lose a lot of recruits to Georgia Tech.
The tide is turning —the tide has turned. I fully expect the Jackets to take care of UGA for the next 4-5 years. Hell, UGA barely eaked out two wins over GT when Reggie Ball was QB-ing.
Oh what satisfaction. In the year when it was supposed to be THE YEAR in Athens, Dawg Nation is humbled by two blow-out losses to the real cream-of-the crop in the SEC —the only two really good teams in a conference that could not even fulfill it’s bowl allotments— and best of all, UGA is humbled by a loss to GT. Has Roddy Jones stopped running down the sideline between the hedges yet?

Not sure whether you were indicating that Tech costs more to attend than UGA, but the fact of the matter is that both schools are state supported, so their costs to attend are about the same, at about $15K per year, including tuition, books, room, and meals.

Z-Dawg,
I am sure I speak for most GT fans in saying we sincerely hope Willie stays as the UGA Defensive Coordinator for MANY YEARS to come. You UGA fans can spin it any way you want, but the FACTS always come out the same way when you compare the UGA defense under Van Gorder to the UGA defense under Willie. Willie may be the best defensive coach in the SEC, but the FACTS indicate otherwise, particularly when you consider all of the “4 and 5 star” players UGA signs every year. Recruiting is certainly very important, but I believe COACHING is far more important to winning football championships. Answer this question for me: If Willie Martinez is such an “outstanding” Defensive Coordinator for a Top 10 program like UGA, how come his name is never even MENTIONED when head coaching vacancies occur at other major universities?

Georgia RAN at will? When? Tech ran at will smart guy. UGA passed at will but it didn’t really matter much did it? In the last quarter-and-a-half of the game, UGA never had the ball with a chance to take the lead. Any tech fan watching that game knew that UGA was not going to stop Tech in the second half —which they didn’t do. UGA could have passed for 500 yards in the second half and it would not have mattered.
With the type of athlete UGA recruits —you know, the not so bright one’s that could never get into Georgia Tech— UGA and Mark Richt will have a hard time keeping up with Paul Johnson and GT. A team must be smart and disciplined to defend the TO —two traits that UGA is sorely lacking in.

It really must suck to be a Georgia fan these days. Not only do you lose to Tech at home in Johnson’s first year, but Tech returns 11 of 11 starters on offense, and if by some act of god you somehow beat Florida next year then you’ll have Alabama waiting for you at the Dome. And the week before that you play Tech. Oh, and you’ll probably be breaking in a new QB and RB as well.
But hey, maybe Richt will get his guys real fired up in the offseason and you’ll only lose to Florida by 28 instead of 35. Hopefully 13 guys won’t get arrested again in the offseason, that would just be embarassing. Georgia sucks.

Notwithstanding the misleading nature of this particular player ‘choosing’ Tech over UGA when he wasn’t even offered a scholarship by the Dawgs, I must commend the AJC’s clear efforts to provide more ORIGINAL recruiting coverage. For a while it seemed everything I read about recruiting in the AJC and on AJC.com was old news, having been covered by the subscription web sites days (and sometimes weeks) earlier. That I don’t expect the AJC to compete story-for-story with those pay sites makes it all the more impressive that I can now gain truly ‘fresh’ recruiting info and tidbits from AJC.com. For example, I enjoyed the short blurb about Branden Smith actually speaking with Champ Bailey, the former UGA great that he has been compared to. I haven’t seen this anywhere else, but AJC.com got the quotes. Good job. Now if only the headline writers can quit tweaking the UGA fans with their slanted wording….

“DE picks Tech over Dogs”
This is a completely bogus headline and story. Typical lame AJC reporting.
UGA never offered this guy anything to choose from. His choices were Tech and North Carolina. He chose Tech over NC, not UGA.
AJC is only trying to use this guy to diss UGA.

Z Dawg, There is always a few of the lunatic fringe that will stoop to using those terms, unfortunately. I am sure those players are fine student-athletes. However, its kinda hard to believe you guys are “upgrading at every position” next year, especially with the impending loss of Moreno and Stafford, and Massaquah leaving. Hard to imagine the offense being as prolific. If they do return, look out. Makes for a fun offseason regardless. Here’s to the renewed rivalry.

Zero-Dawg, we can feel your pain son. We realize that your team’s failed expectations combined with your losses to Bama, the mighty Gators and the Jackets really hurt right now. Year after year we hear from clowns like you about how great the UGA program is, and each year we see what really happens. But son, there’s no reason for you to go on these blogs and make an a$$ of yourself. Have some pride and some dignity, even if you are a Dawg fan, you can separate yourself from the countless other miserable, delusional Dawg fans. As you are so fond of saying each year: wait until next year! Get some help son, the Dawg Nation needs you. My Gators ARE playing for the NC while your #1 ranked Dawgs are playing for a top 15 ranking. I know the truth hurts, so get some help son.

I freely admit that in one day I personally went from complaining about losing to Fla snd Ala to..”if we just hadn’t lost to Tech I’d be Ok with this yr”. I also dont think thats a bad thing..this rivalry needed a kickstart.
My post above said nothing negative about this kid..it was addressing misleading headlines and stating fact.

NOW I get to hear all about the GREAT tear we are having in recruiting. Of course Willie and Mark are still here and they could mess up the defensive attributes of Lawrence Taylor, Ronnie Lott and Albert Haynesworth. We have NO chance as long as Missionairy Boy remains on the job. I’m afraid Paul Johnson’s interests lie with the institution paying him and he will probably be focused on this continent.

To all the dawg fans who post here. There is a different philosophy in recruiting at Tech. Georgia Tech recruits smart kids with good attitudes and no criminal record. There plan is to develop them into great athletes. Georgia recruits great athletes who may be some where between dumb and real dumb and they try to keep them out of jail long enough to get a few years of great play out of them. Under Paul Johnson, Tech is on the way up and Mark Richt (No discipline Richt) at Georgia has another top ten recruiting class, but is headed straight down. It’s just a different philosophy.

Hey Glenn In this state if a player doesn’t get a scholarship offer to UGA, then more than likely he’s not that good a player anyway. But that’s not to say these borderline atheletes won’t do a fair job in college. Hopefully he’ll do all right at the next level.

As painful as this is, I must come to the defense of the dawgs players. Someone said they laid down against Bama. I watched every sweet minute of that game and enjoyed it. But, I did actually gain some respect for Richt and the boys. They were still fighting, even though most of the fans left and they were down by 20 points. Maybe Cummings was watching that game and saw the empty seats.

AROB. It’s sad you are the only Tech blogger that sounds like he is above 12. The rest sound like teeen girls with their crying and screaming. QB and RB is still unclear, as I mentioned, so no way to determine what will happen there. But upgrades at the other positions for sure. Losing Massaquoi hurts, don’t get me wrong, but the WR unit as a whole will be better. But if for nothing else, thank you for at least representing your university of choice better than some of the others.

I’m a Tech fan and I would love nothing more than for UGA to go down hard next year…. but, I gotta tell you, I don’t see it. In fact, the UGA team of next year kinda sets up like the Tenn team the year after Manning left. If UGA can figure out how to get the defense to play D-1 quality football and the offense, though young, comes out with some fire, this team could be very good. And at the end of the day, it’s good for Tech and UGA for the rivalry to be strong and consistently close - that helps recruiting in the state more generally.

Cap played for UGA , why wouldnt his brother go there? Are one of you clowns gonna say that you’ve got a better player in your DBs? Maybe its because that football machine in athens basicly tells their kids they’re SOL if they cant go pro. They offer no help to a student who’s given 4yrs to the program. Check up on that too. buster, if a player doesn’t get a scholarship offer from UGA doesn’t mean he’s not a “good enough” player…it means that he he may not a good fit for UGA…AT THAT TIME…BIG DIFFERENCE.
Sometimes programs already have positions filled; sometimes programs offer one player before another…it has NOTHING to do whether the player is “good enough”.
Sometimes coaches hold scholarships waiting to see kids grades; sometimes coaches hold scholarships to see if kids recover from injuries; sometimes coaches hold scholarships making sure they have qualified after transfers; sometimes coaches coaches don’t bother offering because a player has already indicated they will sign with another team.
YOU ACT LIKE YOU’RE AN AUTHORITY BUT YOU DON”T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT.
If you’d ever been involved in any recruiting process, rather than just reading about and having these types of diatribes with morons like yourself, you might know the difference.
To save you some time, the word “diatribe” means a bitter, sharply abusive denunciation, attack, or criticism. Even if you went to Georgia, I wasn’t sure you would have known what that word meant any more than you have a clue what the recruiting process is really about.
The bottom line is that regardless of what anyone else thinks, GA Tech is very happy that Euclid will be a Yellow Jacket.

Tech squeaks out a win against the Dawgs for the first time in 8 years, only their what, 4th win in the last 20? And all of sudden they’re going to avg. 1,000 yds of offense per game and win the next 9 National Championships in a row, LOL!! When Yech fans start drinking the Koolaid they really chug it!!
Richt is 11-1 against the ACC and all of a sudden he sucks, LOL, too funny for words!! Tech is losing their 3 best defenders they’ve had in years and yet were dominated by a puppy UGA O-line stacked with freshman and sophomores. Just imaged how sh*tty Tech’s D will be next year with their 3 studs going bye-bye!! Let Yech have this kid that we never offered. They’ll need all the help they can get. I’m tired of Yech never being ranked at the end of the season and only hurting our SOS each and every year! Looks like back to the basement next season for the bees!

What’s with the sensitivity from so many UGA fans on here?!? If the article read “Cummings picks Tech over UGA” it would be a little misleading, because UGA was late in showing their interest, but it said he cancelled his UGA trip & committed to Tech. To say that UGA had no interest in this kid etc etc makes no sense. If they traveled to his highschool to request film of him then invited him to attend their practice, they were obviously considering & were likely going to offer him. The same with Florida if they’d have invited him after seeing tape of him. Most of Cummings’ big-time offers have been after the summer because he’d only played a year & is late on the recruiting scene. Have the knowledge or do your homework before you degrade the kid.

Wonder how many on here — Tech and UGA supporters alike — have seen Cummings play? I saw him 4 times this season and he was not very impressive. He may be a talented athlete, but at this stage, he is nowhere close to being a D1 college football player. Tech fans, don’t expect him to contribute for several years.
A lot of “athletes” who impress college scouts never amount to much, and some kids are just flat overrated because they are judged strictly on their physical skills, not how well they play. There was a defensive lineman at Northview last year that signed with LSU who did very little in high school. One example of many.
I can’t believe how worked up people get over the recruiting of high school athletes. Other than the elite few, there is no way of knowing who is going to succeed at the next level and who won’t.
How long will it be before the AJC quits covering high school football games on Friday nights and sends its reporters to games involving top prospects only and reports how they do, not how their teams did.
Unfortunately, there are probably more people who would read those stories.

One more thing: I have seen repeated references to Milton fullback Toney Williams. He may have a fullback’s size, but he is not a fullback. Milton ran most of its plays out of the “I” formation, and I never saw Williams line up at fullback. Not sure where the person or persons came up with the idea that Williams is a fullback, but he’s not. He’s a tailback.

How about this for a title, “Recruit is shown where Athens is on a map, chuckles and cancels visit”
Maybe this one, “Defensive player cancels trip, says he wants to play for a team who’s coaches know how to stop a high school offense”
“Inability to stop high school offense results in canceled visit by defensive recruit”
AJC writers are going to have a field day this year, if an entirely accurate title, generates this many posts. Looks like there are a few insecure leg humpers out there.

I continue to be amazed at how bias the AJC is for GT. Yes, GT is in Atlanta, but UGA has a much larger fan base. Why do you continue to spew forth inciting propaganda? Yes, GT defeated UGA this year, but we all know who the superior program is. Check out the last decade or the all-time series. I realize that the AJC bloggers write ridiculous comments to provoke a response with equates to higher ratings for the writer. With that said, I have seen many stupid headlines over the last couple of weeks. Did anyone read that the GT players are getting better bowl gifts than UGA players? Is this a middle school blog? That was pathetic. Who is playing on January 1st and who is not? How many fans attended GT’s last 5 bowls and then compare than to UGA’s turnout. The reality is that no one wants GT because their fans don’t support their team. In regards to this recruiting article, UGA never offered this kid. If UGA offered this kid would swap to UGA in a heartbeat. How about GT losing a recruit to Troy? Checks out how many of the GT’s commitments that were offered by UGA. How many of UGA’s commitments were offered a scholarship by GT. Yes, GT would love to have the recruiting class that UGA has. Yes, GT was a difficult offense to stop this year, but everyone will figure it out and send it back to the 70’s. Why did everyone stop running it if it is so unstoppable. It is kind of like the Japanese pitcher, Nomo. During his first year no one could hit him. The scouts had a chance to pick him a part and he became a below average pitcher for the rest of his career. UGA dominated GT’s offense in the first half and Martinez lost his ability to make basic adjustments. All one has to do is play a 4 – 4 defense and instruct the ends to take the QB on the pitch. That will leave a safety and OLB to stop the running back. It is very basic. What killed UGA was a mindless coordinator, Willie Martinez. The plays that GT killed UGA with were pitch sweeps and option tosses to the edge. These are basic plays that our coach could not comprehend. UGA was plagued this year by awful DE play, injuries, poor team discipline, poor 3rd down calls, and a lack of defensive swagger. None of that had anything to do with GT. Frankly, I was not impressed by GT. Their defense is average at best. The offense will be a one hit wonder. Suggestion, play the corners on the outside of the offense to maintain leverage. Roll the safety closer. Their passing attack is a joke. The reality is that UGA was out-coached and out-played. Yes, it was that simple. No, GT is not a great team. Try that for a blog.

UGA has to allow the bugs to wins one occasionally otherwise we would have to drop them from the schedule. UGA dominated for a decade. Mark Richt has owed the bugs. If the same team wins every game, what would be the point of playing the game. One thing to remember, a great deal of the inciting responses are submitted by the blogger author. Yes, it is pathetic but the truth. I promise you that UGA is not envious of GT. Compare the commitments: We have a top 3 QB, a top 5 DT, the top OL in the state, the top OL in Tenn., the top RB in state, the top QB in state, the top TE from the New England area, and are on the verge of adding the top player in the state of Georgia. Yes, GT begged these kids, but they had no interest. Yes, I know GT will play the academic BS. Check out the GPA of the top OL in state. Yelp, he has 4.0 plus while taking honor classes. GT begged the Patterson kid and he said no. He wanted UGA to offer but they are fishing for bigger fish. I laughed to read that GT predicts a brighter future. Oh my, those are some delusions of grandeur. We have the proven program and the better recruits. We will establish another winning streak next season. I really could care less how the GT fans view my comments. Their constant bragging reveals how insecure they are about UGA. Why was the win such a big deal for them? Over the last several years, I didn’t mention UGA beating GT. It was just another win over an inferior team.

Gee KneeJERK, why on earth did you not care to mention UGA TE’s, OL or any defenders in the NFL? You only limited it to three spots, typical jealous Yech fan. We still have had more “impact” RBs, QBs and WRs in the NFL than Tech will ever have. Nice deflection though.
LOL!! Scott is a typical moronic bandwagon Yechie!! Yeah Scott, a team that dominates another by 20 games head to head is REALLY going to have less bowl appearances than the other. Do some homework next time you pretend to be a real Yechie so you won’t embarrass yourself further.
LOL!! Right, all those TITLES Yech has, but something tells me you were only alive for one of them. That one being the one they SHARED with a better team, LOL!!!

I was going to do Burger King for lunch, then decided I wanted Dairy Queen, and some GA fan went “postal” on me. He started barking at me that BK never asked me to come for lunch, that no place asked me to visit for lunch EXCEPT for DQ, and blah, blah, blah ……
45-42 in a year that, according to most GA people, TECH had NO SHOT at winning.
I said it in a blog back in May of this year that Tech would win, and the Paul Johnson will beat GA more than he loses to GA. Then I got “railed” by some GA fan called heeldawg how I was a crack-head, and should put down the crack pipe and just walk away.
The man knows how to WIN! And recruiting has looked pretty good too since he’s arrived at Tech. The Jackets will get better and better at executing this offense, and as long as they stay healthy and protect the ball it will be difficult for teams to stop them on a consistent basis. Yes, there will be occasional solid defensive efforts by an oppenent, but it won’t be a common occurrence, and PJ will continue to rack-up the W’s. That’s just the way it is, the way it’s always been for coach Johnson.
So, before you GA fans fire back at me, just look him [Paul Johnson] up on wikipedia and get the facts……he just simply knows how to WIN.

A lot of parity in the ACC this year from top to bottom in the final standings. A lot of parity in the SEC below Florida and Alabama this year and mostly it was rather pitiful (with the possible exception of Ole Miss). Georgia should get prepared for another year of an also-ran especialy if Moreno and Stafford exit to the NFL.

Yes, Teach beat the worst defense in some categories that UGA has ever had in program history by 3 points. Take away the 7 Stafford spotted you and UGA still wins, with pathetic defense and pups on the OL. You’re an even more delusional Yech fan than most if you think UGA’s defense is going to get consistently worse. It’s good your proud for your team, first time in what, almost a decade? But don’t get too ahead of yourself.
Yes, Johnson has won everywhere he’s been, but ask yourself this question. In a time where coaches would sell off their own children to have a guaranteed winning season, why doesn’t ANY other program run this offense if it’s such a sure thing? Why did it die off decades ago?

Third year in a row the SEC is going to battle for the National Title. 7th since realignment. Tell us again how superior the ACC is? LOL!!!

I was talking about this year and the teams below Florida and Alabama in the SEC, not previous years or your top team in those years. This year is showing a trend upward of the quality of football in the ACC among teams who were not that good in the past. Look at the won/loss records and scores when conference teams were playing each other.

Based on what we saw this year, why would Tech want any UGA picks anyway ?

Yeah right ACC fan, stop embarrassing yourself. Everyone knows this was a down year for the SEC but yet we still have two top 5 teams to end the season with, plus probably another National Title, IN A DOWN YEAR.
Line up where teams finished in each conference and play head to head. The SEC would go at least 9-3. This was a great year for the ACC by their standards, and yet your best team is who and they finished where…..

Hey Dawgtime: You need to get out of your double wide and get a life dude or dudette! Your puppies went down 45-42 and GT kicked their azzes, so just admit it. GT still holds the all time record of 8 straight over your pathetic school. Your team will never reach that record. Also, look at your schedule and the sorry teams you beat. It’s pathetic, just like your lame comments. The only 3 good teams UGA played, they lost to, those being the almighty Gators, Bama and GT. Get use to it, as the puppies are in trouble for many more years to come. Also, your basketball team is pathetic. Can’t wait to beat them by 30 in a couple of weeks. Go put your teeth back in and do something productive instead of bashing the Jackets that out coached and out played your sorry team. “THWG” Ramble On! JACKETS ROLL BABY!

TO Dawgtime: Say What??? The AJC is biased toward GT? Apparently you haven’t been reading this rag since UGAY’s salad days when Richt arrived in Athens. It was and still is shamelessly pro-UGA. It should be registered as the official organ.

LOL!!! Hey Dawghater, why no mention of the overall head-to-head record? The ACC is the worst BCS conference year in and year out. Even with their newest recruited programs, you still suck. Why can’t Yech even win their own pathetic conference? Cause they suck!!! LOL, no wonder Yech bolted for the ACC the second the offer was made. Too bad they can’t even win it. I almost pity the ACC officials that are stuck having to get OTHER teams to join since all the original members blow chunks, LOL!!!!

RealityYech- I guess Yech can’t win their pathetic conference for the same reasons you doggy dawgs can’t win your pathetic conference. Remember that loss to the pathetic Yech back in November? Sour grapes are for losers, go get over it. Nobody from Tech wrote this article but it appears you are angry and are still in denial that those pathetic yellow jackets are the real deal and something to deal with now. SOME Georgia fans need to get other themselves and realize you will never win a NC w/ what’s in place in Athens. Saban and Meyers own you all!! And your comments about Tech being pathetic are a joke. They went 2-0 against SEC this year and should make it 3-0 against LSU. The “G” on all those license plates is beginning to stand for “Gloating” instead of Georgia. LOL back at you. Oh wait, yeah, there’s always next year huh?

It’s funny that every Ga fan just assumes that all players would want to go to Ga. They assume that Euclid would have picked Ga over Tech had they just offered. The one side to this that nobody is looking at is that maybe Ga didn’t offer because they knew they were never going to be in the running. Oh and by the way… Fla was also interested in Euclid. I guess Euclid would pick Ga over them also, being they BEAT THE DAWGS TOO!

Z Dawg, did you really say this, Anybody that says Tech recruits “smarter” athletes than UGA has never listened to the post game interview of Morgan Burnett. You guys wanted Burnett so bad, and he came to Tech instead, just like Calvin Johnson did. And one more thing…
GA TECH 45 - 42
Talk all you want, but you still have no answer for that one.

“”It was quite a coup for the Yellow Jackets”. What?? NOT…. Sorry but UGA did not even offer the kid a scholarship. How can it be a coup when Ga didn’t even offer him? UGA usually gets the in-state players it wants. The Univ. of Georgia has been the dominant football program for decades. Tech, now one win in the last eight years, is quite full of themselves. The over all record sums things up nicely: UGA 59—trekies 39. Spin it how you may, UGA has been the better program hands down and it will stay that way. GO DAWGS.

LOL, too funny Texas Mess. The SEC is a “pathetic conference?” You miserable Yech fans take all the fun out of mocking you because you all are just so unreasonable to the point that its disturbing. UGA HAS won their conference TWICE since Richt has been there. Yech won’t win the ACC once before they do what they always do, and buy out Johnson’s contract and move on to the next loser. UGA can’t continuously win the SEC because we have powerhouse teams, year in and year out, competing for and winning the National Championship, unlike the lowly ACC.
Poor ACC officials, you have to pity those fools. They were forced to go out and buy other programs to join the ACC in hopes of lifting the conf. up to the same level as the SEC since ALL the original members sucked so bad and couldn’t do the job, now they’re stuck watching all the new members (fake ACC teams) battling it out for their undeserved Orange Bowl BCS spot each season, but never for the crystal, LOL!!!!
