Georgia’s Mark Richt tells Florida QB Aaron Murray to “go for it”
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Quarterback Aaron Murray of Tampa, Fla., got a phone call from one of his biggest fans, Georgia coach Mark Richt.
Murray, who has committed to the Bulldogs, made an improbable return to lead Plant High to a win in last week’s Florida state semifinals. He suffered what was supposed to be a season-ending injury with a broken left leg on Oct. 16.
Murray was projected to be out for 3-4 months after surgery, but was taking snaps after only seven weeks of rehabilitation. He will lead his team against Lincoln in Saturday’s state championship.
There were concerns among some UGA fans that Murray may have rushed back too soon. However, Richt called Murray to both endorse his decision to play and wish him well in the championship.
“He [Richt] said if he was in the same situation, he would definitely be playing, too,” Murray said. “He said you never know how life works out, and you may never again get to play for a big championship. And if you have the chance to play for one, you’ve got to go for it.”
Doctors gave Murray the clearance to play, providing that he heavily wrap up his left ankle.
In the days after the semifinals appearance, Murray was still sore. But it wasn’t really his left leg. “It was my neck and shoulder from getting tackled. I felt like I always do after the season’s first day of football practice. But the leg is fine.”
Murray’s comeback is a like a Hollywood movie. On his first pass in the semifinals, Murray threw a touchdown.

If there is one trait that isn’t ranked on scout.com, rivals.com, or ESPN, its heart. That is something you can’t put a 5-star ranking on. Its nice to see that in a kid that already has his future laid out for him. Good luck Saturday Aaron, and we will see you in January.
P.S- Bring Charles with you….

Pretty funny that CMR thinks that Murray may never get to play for another championship by coming to UGA. I guess that is the difference between expectations at Flordia and Georgia. At Florida the question is whether Tebow will come back for a chance at a 3rd SEC championshiop and a chance to play in his 3rd national championship game.

Richt is absolutely correct. If Murray comes to UGA, he may never play for another championship. The SEC is locked up in two places, one a couple of hours west of Athens and the other about five hours south of Athens. Enjoy his championship time now, because he soon will be like Eric Zeier and watch championships on TV.

He will win a couple of championships at UGA. One will be in 2010 and the other will be in 2011. Florida’s chances will end with Tebow and Alabama will fall behind LSU starting next year. Get used to the Dawgs laying the SMACKETH DOWNETH on you punks forever more!

‘Warhose’ and ‘Ima hater’: Since you guys already know the outcome, I guess we can cancel next season then, correct? Is your vision limited to just one year ahead? You guys probably need to get back to predicting the CFB games with the intellectual powerhouses of Mark May, L Holtz and ‘not so fast my friend’ stuttering idiot boy, Lee Corso.

It’s hilarious that we always have one blogger who is so smart about everything and then posts his blog three times. Funny how it’s always a UGA hater, not a UGA fan. Hope Aaron wins his state championship this week. Amazing that he returned this quickly.

Hey “hater”, yep let’s just go ahead and give the SEC to Bama & Florida the next 2 years. Nobody else needs to even worry about showing up for practice. Go ahead & give Florida this year’s & next year’s championship trophy. Florida lost 4 games last year. Bama lost to Louisiana-Monroe last year. Things can change quickly.

I wish Jonathan Davis the best in his college career, but look at Spurrier’s record at SC. I think it’s obvious that the ‘Ole Ball Coach is washed-up.

I think Meyer should tell every recruit to quit HS ball when they commit to UF because afterall, they will get to play for the National Title every year for 4 years and there is no sense risking injury. In fact, I think they should stop recruiting players who insist on continuing to play high school football altgether. Only this approach would be consistent with the expectations of the University of Florida. To do otherwise, would send the wrong message that something other than Gator Football matters and then people might not notice that the entire universe rotates on an axis that protrudes from Tim Tebow’s anus.
BTW: Is it possible to change the whole B.C. and A.D. to B.T. (Before Timmy) and A.T. (After Timmy)? I think its the only appropriate recognition for a QB who has lost 5 starts in 2 seasons.

Coach Richt was referring to a state high school championship you morons, but then again most of you never played any type of organized ball, much less to play on a championship team yourself.

Let’s remember where Florida was exactly one year ago…heading to the Capital One Bowl at 9-3. They lost that game but now here they are playing for a Nat’l Championship. Keep those chins up Dawgs! Better and brighter future ahead next year. I believe Murray has more of a “team” attitude than Stafford.

Dear Dorsey Hill,As a team that has lost 15 out of the last 18 to Florida, and has not played for a REAL Championship in 28 YEARS, I would suggest that Georgia afficianados and players would know quite a bit about what protrudes from the posterior area of Florida QB’s. By the way, why is Missionairy Boy still in Athens?? Isn’t there work to do in Uzbekistan?? Botox Boy, Georgia is paying you MILLIONS to compete for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at least ONCE IN AWHILE! Right?? I am right, aren’t I?? Mark should have stayed in Boca . He would have fit right in with the Blue Hairs. AND I don’t know about you, BUT I think it’s pretty good to have lost 6!!! of the 34 collegiate games I had participated in. 2006(13-1), 2007(9-4) and 2008(12-1) so far. I guess that translates to 21-5 as a starter, a large role in ONE Nat’l Championship, another National Championship game beckoning and a Heisman Trophy. Now I realize this can’t quite match up with the next Kenny Stabler “stepping on Tennessee with a hobnail boot”, but it will have to do.
