Marietta DB Chris Tanzy gets a recruiting surprise

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Marietta safety Chris Tanzy has been mulling over offers from North Carolina, N.C. State, Louisville and Mississippi.
But Savannah State?
Savannah State deployed an assistant to speak with Tanzy last Friday.
“I’d heard of them, but never knew of a player who’d gone there,” Tanzy said, perhaps forgetting former NFL All-Pro tight end Shannon Sharpe played at Savannah State.
“Actually, it was the first time I’d ever even heard from them.”
The 6-foot, 185-pound Tanzy said he likely won’t accept Friday’s offer from Savannah State, but instead will soon schedule visits to the other schools. He registered for the NCAA Clearinghouse on Sunday, and said he plans to take the SAT again in January.
