Arkansas rolls out red carpet for Gainesville DE Josh Jackson

Arkansas is showing sudden interest in Gainesville defensive end Josh Jackson.

The 6-foot-2, 260-pound Jackson, who has scholarship offers from Georgia State, Massachusetts, N.C. State and Ole Miss, is closing in on an offer from the Razorbacks.

He’ll take an official visit to Arkansas on Jan. 9.

“They really just came into the picture last week,” Jackson said. “As far as a scholarship from Arkansas, verbally it’s a done deal. I don’t have it official in writing yet. But this is pretty big.”

Jackson plans to take an official visit to Ole Miss in January.

Georgia State and N.C. State are recruiting him at defensive tackle. All other schools have him on their boards at defensive end.

As for Georgia State and its 2010 launch into football, the Panthers remain under consideration.

“It’s a good program,” Jackson said. “It’s something I’ll look at.”

Any place but Arkansas. Four years with that head coach would be an unforgetable experience. If he stays that long.

Okay, the hatred of Petrino is getting old. The guy is a solid coach and it is getting scary how quickly things are turning at Arkansas.

If he finishes with a top-10 or 15 recruiting class this season, the Razorbacks will be VERY solid for years to come.

There’s more to that Falcon story than us and ESPN will ever know.

Go be a Hog Josh.. You won’t regret it.

Seriously? Are Falcons fans still p** at Petrino? The team is MUCH better this year and, I believe, a large part of that is because Petrino can’t work with the egos of professional athletes. So, ATL is better without him and AR is better with him. Time to get over it…
