Arkansas offers scholarship to son of former NFL great

Greater Atlanta Christian made Stephen Atwater a running back out of necessity, but his coach still sees him in the secondary at the next level, like his famous father. Atwater, a junior, is projected to be one of the state’s top prospects for 2010.

Atwater rushed for nearly 800 yards and seven touchdowns for the Spartans. He already has an offer from Arkansas, where his father played before beginning a standout career with the Denver Broncos.

GAC coach Ken Robinson said he receives “a ton of mail” for Atwater and Spartans receiver Julian Horton. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Louisville and Duke are among others who have expressed interest in Atwater.

The Razorbacks only saw film of Atwater at defensive back, so that is where Robinson figures he’ll play. Projected as a corner, the 5-10, 175-pound Atwater is not as big as his hard-hitting father, but he is a physical player.

“Atwater did a good job for us,” Robinson said. “Obviously, he has your measurables — he runs well, jumps well and he’s a strong guy. He has all the things you look for from a measurables standpoint.”

It is not your daddy’s Arkansas. The coward lives there now. Anywhere else but where Petrino is. Do yourself a big favor.

You losers from the ATL need to get a life and quit bashing a coahc who was blindsided from an Administration. He politely did the exact same thing in return. He will have that program running so fluidly that even you guys at UGA will be nervous when the UA is on your schedule.
