Tucker linebacker ‘cool’ with attention

Tevin Holliman says he’s “cool” with the dual pressures that come from being a top football prospect and focusing on playing for a state championship.
His Tucker Tigers face DeKalb County and Region 6-AAAA rival Marist Friday in the state championship game in the Georgia Dome, but 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker is fine with the increased attention from recruiters.
“I take it all day by day,” he said. “I have enough time for everyone.”
That included visiting with Western Kentucky and Iowa State recruiters last week, two programs that have offers on the table. He said he plans an official visit to Iowa State sometime after the holidays, and that no other visits have been scheduled.
Holliman, a member of the AJC’s The Georgia 150. also has offers from Central Florida, Akron, Buffalo, Ohio, South Alabama and Eastern Michigan. Western Kentucky, Iowa State and Central Florida are the leaders.
In the meantime, he’s doing “a lot of film study” in preparation for Friday’s game. He said Tucker has made improvements on both sides of the ball since losing 38-0 to Marist during the regular season.
“We’re a different team, a much different team,” he said. “We’ll show it [Friday].”
