Georgia Tech vs. Ole Miss battling for Tennessee’s ‘Mr. Football’

It has been a banner week for Tech prospect Daniel Hood.
A day after celebrating his birthday, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound tight end Hood helped Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic win the Class 3A state championship on Saturday.
On Monday he was named Tennessee’s Mr. Football for his division in the lineman category.
“It can’t get much better than this,” said Hood, who has narrowed his college choices to Ole Miss and Tech. “This was actually supposed to be our rebuilding year.
“We played eight or nine sophomores the whole year. But they stayed dedicated and to winning it all. And we didn’t have any injuries until the state championship game.”
Hood plans to take his official visit to Ole Miss in January. He’s still working on scheduling a visit to Tech.
“I talk to [Tech co-offensive line] coach [Todd] Spencer about once a week,” said Hood who is being recruited by the Jackets as an offensive lineman and the Rebels as a tight end.

Why would he rather play O-line than TE? No offense to all you big O-line guys out there!

Well, I’m assuming Daniel’s deciding whether he thinks he will have a better future playing tight end or offensive lineman at the next level, where he thinks he will get the best education, and where he feels most comfortable…In other words, what’s best for HIM.
That’s why Daniel’s narrowed things down to these two fine institutions.
He’s a great kid, from a great family, and will be super successful no matter where he chooses to go. He has his priorities in order and, frankly, regardless of where he chooses to continue his education, his parents should be very proud of his accomplishments.
Congrats, Daniel…For all that you have accomplished, both on the field and in the classroom. It was a heck of a ride this Fall, not to mention this past weekend, huh?
Enjoy your visits…

This guy is not the top player in the state of Tennessee. That would go to Marlon Brown. Rivals has Hood at a 3-star and scout at a 2-star. Nice attempt to make Tech look like they are getting the “TOP” player in the state.

Ole Miss dropped him several weeks ago. You can find out all you need to know about his background, if you google “Daniel Hood Knoxville”. Read the first item— “Court of Appeals”
