Bainbridge WR waiting for a call
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Bainbridge senior wide receiver Melzie Johnson has a lot of things for going him. He had 83 receptions for 1,333 and 13 touchdowns the last two seasons for a winning program, stands 6-foot-3, weighs 190 pounds and is versatile enough to start in basketball and run track. He’s also a good student and was named the school’s homecoming king.
But he is still awaiting a football scholarship offer.
“South Alabama sends personal handwritten letters every week, and I’ve talked to their coaches several times,” said Johnson, whose former teammate Ramadon Jimoh -Osi is now a freshman at South Alabama. “Central Florida has called me a few times and Georgia Tech sends a lot of letters. Georgia Southern and Troy have contacted me, too.”
Johnson is lucky in another matter. He recently was chosen to play in the annual Georgia Athletic Coaches Association game in Columbus on Dec. 29.
