Spurrier tells Stone Mountain LB that he’s No. 1 on wishlist

Stone Mountain linebacker Robert Nelson, an AJC Georgia 150 prospect, said he has narrowd his list of colleges to South Carolina, West Virginia and Purdue, all schools with which he plans to schedule official visits.
The biggest reason? Contact. South Carolina, which has recruited him since he attended the Gamecocks Showcase camp summer, calls at least once a week. Purdue and West Virginia are frequent callers, too, and were expected to make visits to see Nelson (6-0, 211) at Stone Mountain High this week.
Here are his impressions on what he likes about the three programs.
South Carolina: Nelson was impressed by a sitdown meeting with head coach Steve Spurrier last summer, during which Spurrier said South Carolina “was in dire need of people who can tackle.” Nelson stood out at the invitation-only camp. “They said I was their No. 1 linebacker recruit [at the camp].”
West Virginia: The Mountaineers run the same 3-5 defense in which Nelson averaged more than 15 tackles per game this past season. “I know all of the linebacker responsibilities in the 3-5 defense,” he said.
Purdue: The Boilermakers call every week and their interest has made an impact. “They’re very persistent,” Nelson said. “I like the fact they’ve very interested in me.”
Nelson also claims offers from Auburn, Troy, Florida State, North Carolina, Tennessee, among others.

“Superman” If you read this hold out and take a look at Tennessee. If they are still interested wait and talk to Monte Kiffin and see if you can fit into his scheme. Who better to learn from then an NFL defensive coordinating legend. Just think about!!! Good luck in whatever you decide.

Coaching Legend? Did you see how the Panther’s 2 RBs EACH had over 100 yards and 7 yds/carry against the Bucs’ defense last night? That was some legendary D for the wrong reasons: the Panthers set franchise rushing records. Go to a school that feels like home, yet is close to home when you need Mom’s home cookin’. There ain’t but one school named in your top 3 that fits that description in the article above.

C’mon, 40 offers and your school went 3-7 and the 3 teams you beat have a combined record of 5-25. Give me a break, I would not even brag and tell people I played defense on tht team. You really need a reality check. You average 15 tackles a game because defense stayed on the field for most of the entire game as teams marched down the field. Do yourself a favor, pick a team before they don’t have a schollie for you.
