Alabama, Auburn battle over Worth County DE
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Meshack Williams, the Worth County defensive end who made 23 sacks in 10 games this season, is headed to a junior college, but that doesn’t keep SEC schools from trying to get a commitment from him. That will give them the inside track on signing him again in two years.
Auburn assistant coach Hugh Nall visited Williams on Friday, and coaches from South Carolina and Alabama have called in the past two weeks to offer official visits, according to Worth County coach Harris Rainbow. Williams will visit those three schools. He has been to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to see the Alabama-Mississippi State game.
“What they’re telling him is don’t commit to a junior college yet; commit to us, then we want to place you,’ ” Rainbow said.”This is a kid who will play on Sundays.”
Rainbow said he began tracking Williams’ sack totals on film because the numbers are almost unbelievable. Williams is 6-foot-4, 220 pounds. He’s a defensive tackle in high school but probably will play linebacker in college due to his speed, which is 4.55 seconds over 40 yards.
”I’ve never had anyone to compare him to,” Rainbow said. “You watch film, and the other team has to change what they do because of where he’s at on the field. There’s probably only 20 players in the state like that.”

Meshack (I know you have a nickname—hope it is something like “Cruncher” or Superfly!!!) or something really cool—but Meshack is just fine, too! I am from Valdosta and know what South Georgia football is all about—-and that is why I am emailing you——I want you to make the right decision and I have emailed a couple of other Georgia super stars——all I ask you to consider is this: What # do you wear right now—-imagine being on the field at Bryant-Denny Stadiume in front of 90,000 each Saturday wearing a number for the University of Alabama—a number that will be immediately identified with so many great players have worn it before…you will continue the great tradition…of being part of the best team atmosphere in all of college football! Your helmet tells it all—-not flashy, no logo, just your number—in sparkling, traditional crimson and white numerals. IT just doesn’t get ANY better than that. Send me an email sometime——no pressure at all—if you want to be part of something special, with a group of special, selfless team mates who want to achieve national championship goals—-then Tuscaloosa is the place and the red helmet is the identity you will want to be part of. Trust your instincts—have a great career and know that we in the Tide Nation want you to be part of it.
Roll——nothing else needs to be said.
