Georgia Tech coaches hitting the recruiting trail
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson and assistant Brian Bohannon were scheduled to visit quarterback Jordan Luallen of Center Grove High in Greenwood, Ind. on Sunday.
But the visit was delayed several days.
“They were supposed to be here on Sunday, but they wound up rescheduling,” said Luallen, a Tech commit who led Center Grove to the Class 5A state championship on Saturday. “They wanted to give us some time to celebrate our big victory.”
Tech coaches will travel to Valdosta on Tuesday to meet with offensive lineman Antonio Foster, who committed to the Jackets last month.
Courtney Dalcourt of Franklin-Simpson (Kent.) High, who is high on Tech’s quarterback wish list, will receive an in-home visit on Wednesday or Thursday.
Euclid Cummings, a defensive end for Centennial, confirmed that Tech coaches are scheduled to meet with him on Thursday.
Tech commit Orwin Smith of Central High in Phenix City, Ala. said Jackets coaches will visit him on Thursday.
Quarterback David Sims of Calhoun County (S.C), who committed to the Jackets nearly two weeks ago, will receive a visit from Tech on Friday.
Jacket coaches will conduct in-home visits with Tech commits Jeremy Moore of Johnson High in Austin, Tex. and Luella’s Roderick Sweeting on Tuesday Dec. 9.

I can’t wait until our bowl game. Then, it’s a few short weeks until signing day when we re-energize the roster. Then it’s another few short weeks until spring practice. After that, a couple of short months until fall practice begins. Wow, it’s going to be next season before you know it!
I can’t wait!
GO JACKETS! THWG!

Hey Big Ben: 3 points with 14 points being gifts is hardly a whipping. Good win for ya’ll, but a whipping it was not. Look at Bama and Fla. Tape to see what a whipping looks like. See ya next year. Go Dawgs!

JB…Uga has a quality program and quality athletes…we respect that..but we think our coaching has more than leveled the playing field, and we will also look forward to next year in BDS@HGF!!

Hello JB. I agree that our win was definitely not a “whipping”. But we are quickly getting better. That is obvious under CPJ, so if UGA doesn’t get better very fast, GT may not have to “squeak out” victories in the future.
Go Jackets!!

Having seen Sims play, he is a beast. I am a DAWG fan here in South Carolina, and get to see some of these guys that come out of SC alot (I coach here too in high school). We saw a lot of tape on Sims, and he fits what Tech is trying to do. He was a Kentucky commit, but loves the idea of Tech now.
In a first round playoff game, he accounted for 500 yards and 4 touchdowns. He can run and pass… he is a dam good player.
Too bad UGA can’t get his teammate. Alshon Jeffery is primetime… he is a 4 star basketball player on a team that has won 77 games in a row. He is a powerful and fluid reciever… I believe that he is a Southern Cal committ, but him and Sims are close buddies…

Jeff,
This is the first time I’ve seen a warning about inappropriate comments on an AJC blog and I heartily applaud the effort to run off some of the more profane and childish folks who sometimes post.
Hope this effort extends to all the blogs in the future.

Tech— Do the Dawgs a favor and sign all the 5 star recruits this year. Leave us the kids who want to go out and prove they can play(hopefully for 60 minutes).

Great to see the recruiting going well. Has any one seen Luaallen play, is he a runner or passer. I think we need to find some dominating linebackers to really shore up the defense. David Sims sounds like a beast.

Dear Georgia,
Thanks for going out to Texas to get a QB, New Jersey to get a RB, and South Carolina and North Carolina to get WR’s and leaving all of the instate guys to us.
Sincerely,
Georgia Tech, the #1 team in the state

UGAg had 4 can’t miss prospects at their skill positions and we still beat their a$$.
Not worried about UGAg anymore. They will never put that type of talent together on the same field ever again.
And yes, it is hilarious.

Hey murfdawg, now that is funny. I love a sense of humor. If ya’ll listen to Charlotte Dawg that’s what you guys are going to do: quit recruiting the 4 and 5 stars kids and only go after the 2 and 3 stars b/c they have to be smarter. For what it’s worth these rankings are a bunch of hooey anyway.

It’s truly funny how GT fans are acting after beating UGA. UGA has DOMINATED as of late, UGA gives away an early Christmas gift by handing over 14 points and still goes down by only 3 points, now all of a sudden GT is the dominate team, LMAO. But then again I really can’t blame the GT fans since they really have not had the feeling of beating UGA in a long time. Every now and then I would beat my big brother in a video game, I would take full advantage of every minute of it. To* “wes”*, football games are won and lost in the trenches, skill players can’t do ish without the dirty work being done in the trenches.

i never comment on these blogs but I can’t pass this one up. After watching a jumbotron off and on for the game, even though it still posted the information to some degree, uga turned it off at the very last minute. When called and asked if that was on purpose or if it malfunctioned, the aa dept said that did gt fans notice it was not working correctly for most of the game and that they did not know if it happened to just stop working completely or if they turned it off. I responsed that is a shame for all of the kids that get a kick out of taking a photo of the score for their facebook and if it was intentionally turned off that was poor sportsmanship. the secretary responded that it was no worse than gt players tearing up the hedges. I laughed. here is the difference between the two schools…kids do silly things like break off a piece of a hedge and it is likened to adults that turn off a scoreboard out of spite! of course, that was the exchange on Monday. by now, i am sure the story is that it died on its own.
