New ‘AJC’s The Georgia 150’ will be released on Sunday
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
After talking with college scouts and high school coaches across the state, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution will release an updated list of the “AJC’s The Georgia 150” in Sunday’s print editions.
The list was last updated in August.
There will be more than 50 changes from the original list.
Do you know of any deserving players? If so, please state your case below. Do you know of any recent offers? Or colleges coming on strong?
[Note: The 150 is based on player’s college “potential.” A high school senior may be a great player, not necessarily a top prospect. While that player may or not appear on the 150, he could be considered for the All-State team, etc.]

Michael Boydston of Walton deserves to be on the list. He rushed for 1,859 yds on 303 carries for 6.1 per carry. He scored 25 tds. He had a seven game stretch starting from 9/12-10/31 where he had games of: 301, 200, 325, 229, 257, and games of 128 and 168 mixed in there. Only played part of 1st quarter in game 10 and only had 5 carries in game 11 so those numbers were generated in a little more than 9 games.
Also, Ray Rayburn deserves to stay on the list. He completed 64% of his passes (130-202) for 1,686 yds, 12 tds, and only 2 ints. His 1st int came on the first play of the season and his 2nd came in the round 1 playoff loss so he went 190 something passes without a pick. Obviously those are not huge yardage or TD numbers but, consider they came in an offense where the TB rushed for 1,859 and 25 tds.
And don’t forget Price Garrett. He finished with 73 catches for 1,055 yds and 7 tds. Not bad for an 11 game season if that were all he had done. But he also returned punts and kicks and played almost every down on defense at safety.

I only have two both from Dekalb. They both have the right size, skill and attitude to make it big at the next level. Both of them will excel in college but happen to play for high schools that didn’t have a clue how to use them.
Stephen Hil, 6’4”, 190# WR at Miller Grove High School. Amazing receiver with great body control, hands and speed. Runs a 4.4. Committed to GT. Most TD’s for WR in Dekalb. Will be the next Calvin Johnson if they throw the ball to him. Great potential. All region, all county.
Nigel Mitchell-Thornton, 6’2.5” 225# LB at Stephenson High School. TN verbal commit but had offers from all over the SEC and the country. Great player with great instincts. One of only 10 Atlanta Touchdown Club backers of the week. Started on Stephenson for three years. Over 100 tackles, 60+ solo. The only LB in the county with 3 interception, two for touchdowns. Graduating early and will be at TN for spring practice. All region, all county.

“Michael Boydston of Walton deserves to be on the list.”
“Also, Ray Rayburn deserves to stay on the list.”
“And don’t forget Price Garrett.”
Garrett is an outstanding CLUTCH player.
Boydston, while he’s a very good and durable runner, may be a “system RB,” if such a thing exists.
But, hey, what about this Bouye kid from Tucker. I’ve been reading A LOT about him? :-)

DJ Hardaway #4 for East Coweta is a silent killer. He has proved to be an asset on defense in many positions. Rover, Safety, Linebacker. Made Honorable Mention as Linebacker in 2007 in the Region. Can sack and make the defensive play the turns the game. Also has the book skills.

Didn’t he say college potential. The guys that you all mentioned would not even play if they were in a lot other programs. Give me a break. The only ones I have ever heard of is Reid, Hill and Mitchell-Thornton. The rest of the ones you mention are not even being highly recruited.

AJ Bouye should fit in very well at UCF. They really know how to develop talent at the DB spots. They will also be losing their entire starting secondary after this season. Bouye should get a chance to lace ‘em up as a Knight next year as a freshman.

Just saw the Tucker Hillgrove Game. Tucker speaks for itself, but the QB from Hillgrove Synjin Days. He seemed to play against Tucker single handidly. He is only a junior they say, and was first team All County as a Sophmore at QB he led Cobb County in rushing at QB with 1500 yds and had another 1,000 this year. Then they say he is strong as an Ox and fast. THe kid is fierless. Also, the kid from East Paulding, you can not foreget about him, and what he has accomplished at FB and LB. Lastly, the QB at Lassiter, his first year as a starter and throwing for over 3,000 yards. This Lassiter kids is class. I hear Lassiter is on a lot of Radars with the Hillgrove . Jahron Brown from E. Paulding has already committed to Arkansas.

I saw Jamal Jackson play as a back up at Grady but this year he was able to show and improve his skills on the fundamental and execution aspects. He’s a good runner for his size. I hope he gets his film out there as he has alot more work to do to get noticed as his development will pay off for a college team that focuses on QB development.

Hey,I don’t know what criteria is to be considered for this list but, Taj Harris at Milton(alpharetta)has got to be one of the “best” kept secerets in GA. I’ve seen him play and witnessed nothing less than an amaizing runner… Toney Williams is a deserving shoe in for this list but, I don’t think enough credit has been attributed to to his backfield mate… U gotta see what this kid does!

Jamal Londry/Jackson came out of the background this past summer at Tee Martin’s Dual Threat Quarterback Camp and truly evolved in the QB position. The few years of following him he didn’t really display the running ability that he proved this season. I hope to hear of schools noticing his break out talent. We don’t have too many student athletes making a conscious effort to maintain good grades from the previous post of 3.75 GPA that is impressive. Its noticable that this kid hasn’t had alot of exposure hopefully his family and coaches are working together to get him that exposure to the recruiters. I agree about the criteria, if you are not state contender or All American, its very hard to get noticed. However Jackson just stay focus and get your footage anywhere and everywhere. Remember all the lists, honorable mentions and etc are just that, keeping working hard to prove to self first and the rest second. The Big 12 and PAC 10 would be a good fit for you. Good luck and keep education first.

Jamal had a great season works hard in the classroom, he is a very deserving kid. Extremely raw talent with super arm stregnth with great field awarness. Alot of recruiters probably overlooked him due to the schools not being familiar with NAHS football program and not having the chance to follow him. He needs a program that can take him under their wing and he will develop by his sophomore or junior year to be a great quaterback.

Hard to believe the Hoya’s #21, Robbie Godhigh and #58 Nick Jackson are not listed in the paper. Robbie plays running back, defensive back and special teams and is small but very strong and elusive. Nick is a big strong kid who plays center and defensive line and dominates the middle especially when at center. Both are three year starters who will be playing on Saturday’s next year.

hi folks, If you know who I am I’m the great coach of Penn State Football. I’ve been in GA recently for a AAA game and i noticed extreme talent in a spread offense QB named Albin Jorodis his passer rating for the season is over 200. He has 37 TDs and 2 INTs he has 17 rushing TDs and he has 2900 pass yds. and 1200 rush rards.
