Milton RB Toney Williams likes Georgia Tech, but not offense

Toney Williams’ commitment to Tennessee could be in jeopardy.

Arkansas, Kentucky and Georgia Tech are making a late push for the talented Milton running back.

“I kind of like Georgia Tech, but then again I don’t really like the [triple option] offense,” said Williams, who scored five touchdowns in Milton’s first round loss to East Paulding on Friday.

“But I’m still open-minded to it. I prefer the I or a pro style offense, but I’ll still talk to them.”

He did not plan on attending Thursday’s Georgia Tech-Miami game.

He is considering an official visit to Tech on Dec. 12.

Maybe he just changed his mind about the GT offense after watching the GT vs. Miami game!!!!!!!

I wish him luck regardless of where he decides to attend college, but I truly believe any RB who is offered a scholarship to play football at GT would be crazy to decline the opportunity.

The future (and present state) of the GT Football Program is very bright!

If a RB doesn’t like an offense that averaged 12.5 yards/rush against U of U, one of the top defenses in the nation, he”s too stupid to go to Tech anyway,

This is a kid who has someone telling him he’ll never go pro coming out of an option offense….even though he has a 0.1% chance of going pro coming out of ANY offense.

A RB that doesn’t like a running offense, very strange.

He must be allergic to rushing yards.

Probably doesn’t want to block. Go somewhere else. We don’t want you if you don’t “like” our offense. Kentucky and Arkansas are such powerhouses. Maybe if you are lucky you will go to a bowl.

Here is a guy who thinks he has to play in a pro style offense in college to get selected by the pros. I have news for him. The pros go for two things size and speed and could not care less how you did in college. The people scout and pick players in the draft will not risk their jobs on a player who does not have size and speed for his position. I can’t believe any RB that wants to show what he can do with the ball would not be standing in line wanting to play in Tech’s offense.

Kid, I am really sorry you don’t like the offense. But, if you come to Tech and you can perform - run the ball and block you will play. If you go to a pro style school, you better be the top stud because only one RB is going to see the game.

This offense is in it’s infancy. When the QB and lineman instinctively get their reads and techniques down this offense will be unstoppable. Also injuries have decimated the O-line and CPJ hasn’t been able to recruit his athletes for this system yet. Any running back who doesn’t beat the door down trying to go to GT is a complete idiot. And Dwyer is the new typical NFL prototype back.

He better go to Tech. After next Saturday their offense will be smashed and bashed.

Actually many of our plays are in “the I” before the snap…and Paul Johnson will say the same thing.
When we send the slot in motion and he crosses behind the b-back…we then essentially run a toss sweep out of an I. See Football 101 video by Paul Johnson on YouTube. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSR3Y-yl1iQ

Hey, kid, Tech just ran for nearly 500 yards against a really good defense. You are a running back, right?

I wish the young man well wherever he goes, but I wonder if his concern is not more about who would be playing in front of him rather than the offense Tech plays.

I was with my son and his girlfriend last night before the game. She is a teacher at Milton who had Williams in one of her classes at school last year. When I asked her if he could qualify academically at Tech, she just kind of smiled and said “no”.

Tech, change your entire offense to suit this teenie bopper. After all he is a high school star who knows more about coaching football than the coaches.

T. W. Do what is best for you. You have the speed and the size to go where ever you want. When you are making your speach to the HOF one day all those hatters will try to be your friend. Until you get there keep working hard, and don’t let anyone get in your way

PEACE coach Lockett

Toney, stick with TN. You’ll play LB or FB and end up having a good college career and if you go to class you will earn a degree. You are a knock out high school RB but you are not a college or pro RB. Just not fast enough. You could be a great college LB but a little too short for a pro LB. You could probably be a heck of a pro FB. But focus on your college degree. It will overide size, speed, college teams and will last a heck of a lot longer too.

**Coach Lockett, a 4.6 time in the 40 is not exactly HOF breakaway speed. How many NFL or College DB’s is that going to outrun?

TW has size and he can no doubt play and gain tough yards and he could be a very good blocker.

What exactly do you coach?**

Toney Williams could be a very good “B” back in Tech’s offense. That’s the position that Dwyer plays. He has great size and strength, and does not go down easily. He will need to learn to run much lower to be successful in college though. On the other hand, he really has no moves / shiftiness about him. He’s kind of like a Herschel Walker without the blazing speed. I think he would struggle in the few I-Offenses of today and in a 1-back Read / Give Spread or, even in the type diverse stuff that UF and Wake Forest run. BUT, all that being said, he could develop himself in the B Back role, learn to block some (the B Back actually blocks less in that offense than the A Backs do) and try to pattern himself after a Brandon Jacobs / Adrian Peterson (Bears / GA Southern AP, not the Vikings / Okla. one) type of runner. If he can qualify (comment based only on what I’ve read here), Tech would be an ideal place for him to shine and have a shot at playing in the NFL. BTW - I am not a Tech Fan…I’m just calling it like I see it and I watched a lot of Film on him this year and saw him up close and personal in 1 game.

As a RB it doesn’t appeal to me to have the opportunity to have over 100 yards a game every game - right. I know he is just a kid, but either was taken out of context or just prefers to play for a losing team - albeit in front of a lot of people.

Yes playing for an offense that can get almost 500 yards a game - no interest. I prefer to lose to the likes Wyoming weekend in and out and maybe score 7 pts a game - just call me a Vol.

Did you see #21 break 100 yards rushing in one half against a top 15 defense? After he broke that 50+ yard TD on national television and infront of 50,000 fans he came off the field and got daps from TI.

Coach Lockett- are you a coach at Stetson? You mentioned the “hatters” in your “speach”
