Lassiter TE has long conversation with Tommy Tuberville
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Lassiter tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen finally got to take his first official visits the past couple of weeks. One was a thrill, while the other answered some much needed questions.
The Trojan senior traveled to Auburn for the Georgia game on Nov. 15. Lutzenkirchen has remained committed to the Tigers despite the firing of offensive coordinator Tony Franklin but took the opportunity to explore his options with trips to Florida and an official visit to Flordia State this past month.
The trip to Auburn served as chance to finally set some things straight.
“It was good,” Lutzenkirchen said. “It cleared up a lot of questions I had about what was going on there. Coach (Tommy) Tuberville said that he’s planning on being there the next several years. He doesn’t think one bad season is going to jeopardize his job. He said that he had nine good winning seasons and one bad one, and the other tough one he’d had was in 2003. Then in 2004, they went undefeated.”
Lutzenkirchen and his family held a meeting with Tuberville and tight ends coach Steve Ensminger. The 6-foot-4, 245 pound Lutzenkirchen had concerns with the direction of the Tigers offense.
“They had a tough transition, but they told me they’re going to stick with a spread based coordinator to come in,” Lutzenkirchen said. “It’ll be interesting to what happens. I’m sort of anxious to see who they bring in.”
Lutzenkirchen is a versatile tight end prospect, with the ability to block, line-up in the slot or do things like this. Regardless of the direction of new Auburn offense, Lutzenkirchen had never been sold on the school based solely on Franklin.
“Coach Franklin wasn’t the only reason I wanted to go there,” Lutzenkirchen said. “I liked all the coaches there. Coach Tuberville is a guy that I trust and my parents trust. I’m just felt good to have him look me in the eye and say he’d be there the next couple years. It made us, our family, feel better.”
The Auburn trip came on the heels of a visit to Tallahassee, Fla. Florida State has been recruiting Lutzenkirchen since the beginning. After deciding to take his first official visit there on Nov. 8, Lutzenkirchen didn’t leave disappointed.
“The closest thing I’ve seen to Auburn was FSU,” Lutzenkirchen said. “They had all the brick buildings. But I think Auburn’s campus is the nicest I’ve seen. They were one of the first to offer. I meet Bobby Bowden, a coaching legend. So it was a good trip. For as old as he is, he’s still very sharp.”
Lutzenkirchen is a member of the AJC’s The Georgia 150.

Don’t let anyone tell you different, there is no more fun atmosphere to study and play than on the Plains at AUBURN. There is a strong bond with the student body and the school that you take to the grave. WAR EAGLE NATION is a solid force on the world stage in academics, research, and has the future in hand for its graduating classes. And we are good in athletics, too. Don’t let one bad football season color your opinion of the place. Come join the family!! War Eagle!

Auburn is kinda like the Republican Party. The reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated.

I would go to FSU, it’s a better school both academically and athletically.

I wouldn’t overlook the possibility of playing @ Troy. They still have CTF’s spread system in place there too. Worked very well against LSU.

Diane—-you are an idiot!
The school on the other side of the state, call it’s fanbase a “NATION”
Auburn calls it fans FAMILY… Now who is a closer bunch… a so called “nation”, or FAMILY?
There’s nothing like that Auburn Spirit!
WAR EAGLE!

Seven is a coming diane! Lutzenkirchen can be part of an on going tradition at Auburn. Spanking the Tide every November. The Dream season comes to a stop November 29th. Bama finishes with a 11-3 season.

There’s not much to do in Auburn unless you are into cow tipping.

Maybe Auburn should hire Lassiter’s Head Coach as their Offensive Coordinator. Worked for Arkansas when they were recruiting Mitch Mustain…didn’t work out in the long run very well, but I’m just sayin….

Hey Ricky have you ever been to Auburn or just sat at your house and listened to all the BS spouted by UGA and UA fans. Auburn is one of the best places to hang out and have fun. And Reggie you must not be an AU fan if you think firing Tubbs is the answer.

Remember Red Phillips, Tommy Lorino, Pat and Terry(not Bowden), Bo and Ronnie? Coaches come and go and leave their respective legacies. Why are sports so overshadowing of the real purpose of AU. Yes Tubs is gone and we can rest easy that certain private jets are fueled up. Same old same old? WE anyhow.
