Valdosta OL Antonio Foster to attend first Georgia Tech game
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Valdosta offensive lineman Antonio Foster plans to check out of school at noon today and travel to Atlanta for tonight’s ACC contest. His college visit is considered an excused absence.
Foster committed to the Jackets on Nov. 4, and it’s his only chance to see the Jackets play at Bobby Dodd Stadium before national signing day in February.
“This will be my first Tech game,” said Foster, who withdrew his commitment to Tennessee after learning that Volunteers coach Phillip Fulmer will step down at the end of the season. “I just want to come and do the game and see how the crowd is at Georgia Tech.”
The decision to switch his commitment to Tech was difficult for Foster. “It’s been tough,” said Foster, whose offensive line coach at Valdosta is former Tech lineman Ashley Henderson. “I had to contact all the coaches at Tennessee and tell them what I did. But they just told me it was a good move on my part, and not to stress about it. The Tech staff is very excited, and I can tell they really want me. When I called them and wanted to commit there, it was so much like they were glad that I was coming to Georgia Tech.”
Foster is scheduled to remain in Atlanta this evening before driving back to Valdosta on Friday. He’ll return to Tech on Dec. 13 for an official visit.
