Flowery Branch players go to practice, then Georgia Tech
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Thursday afternoon football practices are typically abbreviated at Flowery Branch.
So the timing of tonight’s ACC showdown between Miami and Georgia Tech works well for the head coach and four Falcons players who are being recruited by the Jackets and heading to the game.
“It will be hectic,” said Flowery Branch coach Lee Shaw, who plans to conclude today’s walk-through at 4:50 p.m. Flowery Branch will play Ridgeland on Friday in the second round of the state playoffs.
Once the final practice whistle blows, teammates Izaan Cross, Daniel Drummond, Rodriquez Frazier and Connor Shaw are expected to head to Grant Field for the 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
But Lee Shaw will be forced to make a slight detour before traveling to downtown Atlanta.
“Our daughter has a middle school basketball game [today],” said Shaw, whose son, Jaybo, is a quarterback for Tech. “I’ll sprint off the practice field and will still miss about half of her game. Then my wife and daughter and I will come down [to Tech] just in time to get in for the start of the game.”
Following a half-day of school on Friday, Shaw and his team will board chartered buses at noon for Rossville.
“This is all hectic, but exciting,” he said. “We’re making memories, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
