Will WR Rantavious Wooten back off UGA commitment?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
There won’t be much celebrating at UGA about the commitment of Rantavious Wooten until National Signing Day on Feb. 4.
That’s when the speedy wide receiver from Belle Glade, Fla., will sign scholarship papers, and everyone will know for sure if he’s Georgia-bound. Wooten pulled his first surprise when he originally committed to LSU in August, because UGA was thought to be the leader. Then Wooten took an official visit to Athens last month and switched to UGA.
Yet there were many skeptics about Wooten’s switch because he kept such a low profile with various media outlets after making the big decision.
What’s the latest with Wooten? According to UGASports, Wooten now says he is planning to take an official visit to Florida. The 5-foot-10, 158-pound Wooten told that website that there is a “95-percent chance” he’ll end up signing with Georgia.

Well maybe its because of the inconsistant play of the team and coaches. they may turn away a lot of people. CMR doesn’t have what it takes to get over that hump, and its a shame considreing the talent level they have.. i’d go to gator land to if their coach whips the team of choice with his buble gum plays. We run a better offense and can’t do nothing against high profile teams. Free Willie and get a real defensive Coor and lets play ball.

The chances of him landing in Athens are slim to none. I have friends living in FLA and they say the word is out that his commitment is about as lasting as a f art in the wind.

Look, we’re always gonna have arrogant gaytor fans, it’s in their genes…and that’s who seems to be posting here today. Believe me we’ll beat these guys again and sooner rather than later and it’s that arrogance they’re so proud of that’ll make kickin’ their butts that much sweeter.
What does bother me is the criticism some, so-called, Dawg fans seem so ready to dish out on the coaches and players. If you didn’t realize it, it’s just that kind of criticism that turns recruits off - and players and coach’s too for that matter.

The kid is entitled to change his mind, I don’t know why anyone expects a kid to be 100% solid on all his decisions. His mistake is continuing to comment on who his current preference is, I suppose to try to create some sort of bidding war.
If he sees himself as the next Percy Harvin; expect him to go to the Gators.

* Willy will cost UGA -15,000,000 a year (we will never play in the big 17 millions BCS bowl), Unimmagin amount of TV contracts (noon on Raycom instead of prime time at night). Lastly, Stafford and Moreno will leave UGA without “a try on” National Championship game. This is the waste of talent!! CMR and The Dogs Nation can fix the situation but we are happy with what we have how (nice record etc). Only my problem is I have to lookup to FU and the CUM better than us most of the comming years.**

5’10” and 158 lbs.? Doesn’t seem like he would be too good of a fit for Georgia’s pro style offense anyway. They need the 6’4” and can dunk a basketball on a 16 foot goal type of reciever, like A.J. Green. I think Florida would be a better fit for him.

Rational UGA fans know that after losing the best DL, OL, and AA FB and playing with a shuffled OL of all FR and Sophs did not = # 1
That’s why preseason polls are crap.
It’s the know-nothing bandwagoners that cry “Waah… We’re only 9-2 and will never get to the big dance. Fire everybody.”
How long did it take Bobby Bowden to get his title. Fulmer’s comes post Peyton. And with the BCS it is hardly a legit champ. anyway.
Beat GT, win in Orlando, finish 11-2 and I’ll be basking on Clearwater Beach feeling nothing but love in the New Year.

AJ Green committed early and never wavered. That shows maturity and dedication to the program. And look at the results he’s had.

Gatorzone, how many tackles did YOU make in the Football NC game? How many points did YOU score in the Basketball NC game? How many yards rushing or passing do YOU have on this Gator team? Oh yeah, that’s right…..NONE!!! You’re just one of those losers who live vicariously through others. “We” this and “we” that. Moe Ron, you are correct, I did not score points in either game and usually do not refer to the Gators as we. Slip of the wording on my behalf. However, it is humourous to hear a UGA fan complaining about mouthy Gator fans.
Gator fans did not say anything until after that game in Jax. That is the difference between big mouth Dog fans and Gator fans. As a fan, I do not run my trap until after the victory not before.
Typical Bulldawg complaining after bumping your gums all year beforehand!!!

Hey EXPERT, does Tyson Browning ring a bell? Small, but a game breaker. This guy will go to the Gators, they always get great speed players. Also GATORZONE you don’t base a program on the last 10 years. Don’t get me wrong gators have done well in this span, but as an overall program UGA still tops in several areas. Bowl games played in UF=34 UGA=43 CONF titles UF=7 UGA=12 NAT titles UF=2 UGA=2 and we still have the overall series lead over the gators, but that is closing fast. Alot of people throw UGA under the bus without the facts or history of the program. SEC all the way and as the old saying goes “every dog will have it’s day” and we will have ours again real soon.

Gatorzone, still painting with a broad brush, huh? It’s hilarious that you say the UGA fans ran their trap before the game and UF fans don’t. You obviously cannot read, or chose NOT to read these posts dating back to August. All we heard was mouthy Gator fans making excuses that last years loss was because “Tebow was hurt” or “the end zone dance will inspire us”. First, Tebow had a “bruised” non-throwing shoulder. Kind of like fans making excuses that a kicker missed field goals because this thumb was hurt. The dance inspired nothing. UF was the better team this year - period.
If you went back 3 months, or even 2 years, you would NOT see a single post from me making ridiculous claims. That goes for most UGA fans as well. A few, yes, but the rank and file, no. Same with Gator fans. Some go out on a limb and talk their trash all year long. Other cowards, like yourself, sit quietly on the sidelines and start talking trash AFTER the win. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Yessiree, you’re a real man.
As far as bumping gums, that would be you. I still have my teeth. I doubt you could say the same, jorts boy.
Do me a favor, refute my earlier claim that you didn’t attend (or graduate in particular) from UF. Way too mouthy for a college grad.

USC Fan, I was waiting for a trojan to show up. You guy sure have been quiet the past 2 months.
So UGA is an afterthought? Well, it was a tough season and we certainly didn’t perform well. The answer could be that Bama and the Gators were much better teams.
Do me a favor. Please enlighten me as to how much press the perennially overhyped trojans are getting now? You’re no longer the Obama of college football. The love seems to have gone to the SEC and Big 12, and deservedly so. I have heard NO talking heads on TV even mentioning the mighty trojans when it comes to the NC game.
Maybe UGA will get lucky and get matched up with USC in a bowl game. After all, you won’t have the Rose Bowl covering for your overrated azzes like you did when you ducked us last year. UGA might lose, but I’d love to see the game.
I’ll go out on a limb here and make a prediction about USC and the NC. USC will play it safe and get another cupcake opponent (perhaps Penn State) while the NC will be won by Florida. They are a tsunami that appears to be getting bigger.
I suggest you go back to the Big 10 posts and pop off there. They’ll probably cower and agree with you big talk. Just remember, trojans are a cover for a prick.

Here are Quotes before the UGA UF Game:
BIG O… “Gators speed wont matter, UGA is in the Gators heads”
Greg.. Gator Defense has not been tested like Ga will
BullDawg.. Ga has a better QB
GADAWG.. Timmy and Urban will be crying. Florida has not faced an offense like the Dawgs
Catsmeow4.. Gators will go to the Toilet bowl after Ga beats them
SaltyDawg.. Gators cannot stop the UGA offense
GatorHaterNation.. Dawgs will stomp a mudhole in Tebow’s @ss!
Razordawg.. Gators are only mediocre in the Sec
Italiandawg.. Florida will be introduced to “real” smashmouth football and Ga will run all over Florida
MRg.. Gloriday isnt as tough as UGA.. Tebow does not successfully go deep and is useless after 12 yards
DawgfacedBoy.. UF plays a gimmecky spread offense that will not work against UGA’s defense.
These are just a few of the wonderful quotes from UGA fans before that game only.
Yes, I stand corrected, UGA fans are not as mouthy as Florida fans…

Look, Gatorzone, each college has about a bus full of idiots who make championship claims before each season. It’s doubtful UF fans, or any fans for that matter, thought they’d win the ‘06 NC before the season. I also doubt LSU fans truly believed they would win the ‘07 NC. It’s a crap shoot if you try to predict. I never believed UGA would go undefeated. It’s so hard to do so. I thought all along UGA would lose one or two games. I just didn’t know to who, and I certainly didn’t think the scores would be so lopsided. Come back to this post next August and you’ll see the best, and worst, of both school’s fans. Pay special attention to a goomer named Gator Chomp. He’s equally funny and scary. Hard to imagine someone like that walking around without shackles. I seriously doubt you’d invite him to a backyard barbeque at your house.
For what it’s worth, I predict the Gators will beat Bama by at least 14, and I also believe they will win the NC. If UF continues to play the way they have since the Ole Miss loss, I don’t see any college team beating them. I wish it were UGA, but I’d like to see the NC remain with an SEC team.

Until Georgia can consistently win the big game whether against Alabama, Florida, or Tennessee, we are simply wanna be’s. Give Meyer credit; he has built an impressive team with limited resources. He lost his allstar tide end at the beginning of the season, but did not falter nor make excuses; he simply overcame this adversity. The Gators are scary good, and it p** me off that Georgia cannot seem to put the pieces together like Florida has. Florida’s QB is the best in the nation, and he is a great person that I admire, and that I promote to my 14 year old son as a role model. It’s a shame that the majority of Gator fans are a bunch of classless jerk a holes who could care less about the character that Tebow has, only that FL wins. I hate to see a great person like Tebow aligned with the sorry gator nation. I can’t understand how this phonomenon happens. Last year Fl underachieved and you heard nothing from their fans. Listening to them now, you would have guessed that they had won 20 straight national titles. Remember, what goes around comes around.

And yes I am a Gator Fan.
To all of you criticizing the kid, true he has gone back on his word several times, but yall can’t expect him to think like you, yall do not live the same life. He is 17 maybe 18 years old, I remember this time last year thinking of my options of where I would be attending next fall. I was not a blue chip prospect by any means but I still had options. It is not an easy choice trying to decide where you will spend the next four-five years of your life. Don’t hate on the kid for doing something none of you can (be in a position to play at a top tier SEC team), really is this something you would tell a 17 year old kid to his face? Leave him alone, like seriously thats so childish of yall to crucify the kid over not sticking with your school. True he commited verbally, but there is no law binding him to them so chill out.

True, there are some Dawg fans (ok, a lot) that run their mouths, but Gator fans have no room to talk. All they do is mouth, mouth, mouth. Mouth when they win, mouth when they lose, and just mouth, mouth, mouth. And they do it because they just love to hear themselves. I swear, they are the only fan base who has no members you can have a rationale, objective conversation with. Even some insect fans can be reasonable. The sad thing is most of these Gator fans are just pure band wagon guys who took their Trojan jackets off and put on their Gator jackets a few years ago. A lot of these Gator fans I have met in person cannot even name two current gator players. 2!! Sad, sad, sad. Not to worry, in a few years these fans will become fan of whatever the next flavor of the month team is out there. By the way, shouldn’t it be about time that Florida gets slapped with another probation.

Rantavious…. Apparently lots of Gaytors on this board posing as Dawg fans… Don’t be fooled by these fools (like maddog, Stillman/ Fl. Dawg and others). They put Dawg in their name, then say a bunch of crap to try and make UGA look bad and UF good. None of it true. Real Georgia fans love our team and know that Mark Rict has what it takes to win championships (already winning several SEC titles). We had a little bit of a down year, at lot of it due to some injuries to several key players. This is a program so successful these days that many fans don’t expect the team to lose even one game. The Dawgs will be back next year in top form, in fact last year in 2007, many throughout the country thought UGA the best team period. We have many talented athletes on the roster and are always bringing in talented recruits each year, such as yourself. We are excited about your commitment to the Dawgs, Rantavious Wooten. You are a big time receiver who will be a intricate part of our offense for years to come. You are joining one of the elite college football programs and a top notch major University. Georgia, over the last decade, has been consistently one of the top teams in college football. Academically, we are considered one of the few public “Ivy League” institutions and Athens is one of the best College towns in the entire country. We will contend every year for SEC championships and National titles. Come be part of a great and proud tradition. Mark Rict is one of the best coaches in football as well as a man of integrity and character (you will find that around the country, Urban does not have that same reputation). Google Urban Myer and you will find many stories about his shady, dishonest practices.. You will not find the same said about Rict. Come be part of a winning program that does it with honor and integrity. Welcome to BullDawg Nation.. GO DAWGS!!!!
