Southwest Macon RB Adrian Alexander waiting for college calls

The numbers speak loudly for Southwest Macon running back Adrian Alexander. Playing in a little more than nine games this season, the 5-foot-8, 165-pound senior has rushed for more than 2,000 yards.

Surely college recruiters are burning up his phone. Think again.

“He doesn’t have any offers. He has gotten some interest from Georgia Southern, but that’s about it right now,” said Southwest Macon coach Carror Wright.

Wright knows a thing or two about running backs since his second cousin is Herschel Walker. During Wright’s 37 years as coach, he has mentored NFL backs Ernest Byner and Marion Butts while in high school.

“[Alexander] has got a big ol’ heart and I can’t say enough about him. He’s played about the whole year injured. He’s got a little bit of academic work to do but someone will take a chance on him and be glad they did,” said Wright.
