Milton RB Toney Williams schedules official visit to Georgia Tech

Although he is a hot commodity, Tennessee commitment Toney Williams is increasingly in a pickle with the recruiting process.
Williams, a Milton running back, restarted dialogue with other colleges once Volunteers coach Phillip Fulmer announced last week he won’t return next season. Problem is, even if Williams prefers to stand by his commitment, by the time Tennessee hires its new coach, the 6-foot-1, 227-pound running back might no longer be an ideal fit.
Milton coach Scott Walker is scheduling official visits for his the AJC’s The Georgia 150 player to Kentucky, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech. He will travel to Arkansas on Dec. 5, the day he was scheduled to officially visit Tennessee.
Walker said he originally had urged Williams not to consider other offers once committing to Tennessee in April. Now, he’s suggesting Williams not go to Tennessee next month if it doesn’t have a head coach by then. Walker said Vols athletics director Mike Hamilton said even he understands that Williams and other Vols commitments might visit other schools.
“If Tennessee hires Mike Leach, who gets into the shotgun and wants scatbacks and little, fast guys, why would Toney go there?” Walker said. “If someone’s going to come in and go four wide, a new coach may not want him if his scheme doesn’t fit Toney.”
So, here’s Williams’ dilemma: If he stands by the Vols, he runs the risk of not fitting in, but too late to find a scholarship elsewhere. For example, Georgia was once quite interested, but Walker said the Bulldogs no longer have an opening.

I was a freshman at Milton HS when John Dewberry led our last serious playoff run. I also went to Ga Tech and watched him beat Uga in Athens. John, we need your help. Give Toney a call and tell him that he’d be a PERFECT fit as a B-Back in the Perfect Option at Tech.
