Tucker DB commits to Central Florida

Tucker defensive back A.J. Bouye didn’t waste any time thinking about his offer from Central Florida on Thursday.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Bouye quickly accepted and committed to the Knights. It was the first major-college offer for Bouye, who was also generating interest from South Carolina and Kentucky.

“He’s a big cornerback, and that seems to be what colleges are looking at more and more, kids with height at cornerback that are also very athletic,” Tucker coach Franklin Stephens said.

Bouye is projected to play cornerback for Central Florida, and could also get looks at safety, wide receiver, and return kicks and punts, according to Stephens. Bouye was familiar with CFU, making an unofficial visit to the Orlando school with his father recently.

It’s “UCF” not “CFU.” Points for getting the team nickname right though.

Amazing, UCF is a huge school, even bigger than UGA and people still can’t get the name right. Why not just call UGA, GAU?

The only positions that are a lock right now on UCF are at defensive line and linebacker so he made an excellent choice if he wants to get early playing time and an opportunity to get noticed by the PROs.

um…I’m glad to see him committing to us so early and adamently but can we recruit some offense maybe? I know we’re losing a lot of secondary after this year which is why I’m excited to get a big kid like this but when’s the last time you heard about UCF recruiting a powerhouse offensive player??? (besides kevin smith)

AJ, congratulations on this big move to UCF. I am confident you will do great, but you and the other Tigers of ‘09 need to bring home that Championship trophy before you turn your attention to UCF. Lastly, be sure and help develop that pipeline from UCF back to metro Atlanta.
