North Gwinnett QB Tamburo commits to Boise State

North Gwinnett quarterback Mike Tamburo visited Boise State for Saturday’s game against Utah State and came back to Georgia sold on the mountains and the blue turf, enough so that he committed Tuesday to the Broncos.

“I liked the system and the coaches are great, and he school itself,” said Tamburo, a member off the AJC’s The Georgia 150. “They’re a top football program. The team itself is real close, and they do a good job recruiting good kids.”

And, “Their coaches said they ski and snowboard a lot as a team.”

The clincher, though, was a personal touch.

“What really won me over was Saturday I was with the offensive coordinator,” Tamburo said, “and they had 10 plays off my highlight tape. He went over the plays and told me some things they wanted to try with me in their offense.”

The diversity of that offense, he said, was a big draw. “They had three different people that threw touchdown passes this week,” Tamburo said. “A lot of different people made plays.“

Tamburo, who led North Gwinnett to the Class AAAAA state finals in 2007, chose Boise State over Tulsa, Toledo, Bowling Green, Air Force and Ohio University.

Sorry to see Peachtree Ridge Mike Pate break his arm against North Gwinnett. Kevin Minter gets the headlines, which he deserves. But this kid can play, good motor, plays full speed every play. He’s going to make some college coach very happy.

Boise State, very cool. They have an exciting program and show up on national TV a lot. Given the other choices, this was a no-brainer!

Georgia should have recruited this kid. But hey, the high and mighty get who they want, not who they have to take. How are those defensive recruits working out for you Dawgies?

absolutely excellent choice I think. A place where he can play and excel. All the best Mr. Tamburo. Enjoyed watching your HS career unfold. I hope you’re able to bring the Broncos to more prominence.

Oh yes, Boise may be cool in the winter, but there is nothing like living in the Rockies! I lived in Montana and would go back in a second if not for a couple details like work and my ex-wife and her visitation of my son. There is rafting, hiking, mountain climbing, biking, skiing, snow-mobiling, skating, photography, wildlife, national parks, amazing scenery, etc. It is amazing.

We are very excited to have Mr. Tamburo at Boise State. His videos are very impressive and I know coach Pete and the coaches will take very good care of him.

But, yes, bring a jacket…just not a yellow jacket…as that represents all that is very bad with the world…U of Idaho.

GO BRONCOS!!!!

Turf contains unkown bacteria. Be careful with the open wounds Mr. Tamburo. I played at Morehead St. with the same blue turf. Guys were getting sick all the time.
