Basketball: When will Derrick Favors announce college?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
South Atlanta’s Derrick Favors, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 basketball by Scout, told the AJC’s Glenn LaFollette that he will wait until the spring to sign with a college.
Click here for the profile story on Favors.
The 6-foot-9 Favors has narrowed down to Georgia Tech, UGA, North Carolina State and Memphis. He has taken official visits to all four of the finalists, with the exception of Memphis. He is rumored to be deciding between Georgia Tech and UGA.
While Favors won’t sign in the early period, he could commit to a school at any moment. And who knows? Could Favors commit and sign later this week? South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick has said that Favors “always likes to surprise people.”

GT BABY ….Final 4 all the way in 2010!!
No other conference sets up a team for a deep run in March Madness like the ACC!
And as fan as UGA goes…. Oj Mayo nor Beasley could get deep in the tourney by themselves…. and such would be your luck at UGA.
Come to GT where youll be surrounded by fellow All Americans!!
And having Bell come back to be a lock down defender on the other teams best player in 09-10 is going to be a blessing in disguise!!

Dear Derrick Favors, I’m a die hard Ga.Tech fan and I understand you’re probably one and done.I as well as thousands of others would love U at Tech.Ga. Tech already has All Americans, however Tech has not improved over the last 5 years as a program. They actually did more with less talent.I guess it’s cool being close to home but you come from a winning program and have an opportunity to write your ticket. Again, I say,”ONE AND DONE” so you really don’t have time to fix a program, You want to win now. What program fits YOUR profile.Ga.Tech,(picked to finish 8th in conference) UGA,(they will fight for 3rd or 4th in SEC East)NC State,(JJ Hixon had a decent year there but was he ready for the Pro’s?)Memphis,Hmmmmmm. What happened to the last freshman named Derrick that played at Memphis? Oh yeah,he’s playin in Chicago, puttin in work because he had a college coach that has NBA ties and is fortunate to be able to reload rather than rebuild. Sorry Tech fans but sombody has to tell the kid the truth.

Ditto that, Jusahfan. Paul Hewitt is a great person and a wonderful ambassador for tech, but he is not a very good game coach. Tech hasn’t done anything since that magical run in the 2004 tournament, and despite our talent, the team looks lost. Even with Iman, the McD All-American, we’ll be lucky to win 4 ACC games this year.
D-Rad, how about let’s focus on bringing in Seth Greenberg instead of Favors.

It’d be the most exciting to have the #1 player go to the least traditionally basketball school, so I say UGA

I have checked with my resourses and based on my review Alabama should be a player for DERICK TO cONSIDER.WE ARE GOING TO be a power in basket ball and possibly you could be a tight end on the football team since you are so tall.

In my humble opinion, neither UGA nor GT needs 1 year players.
You can argue amongst yourselves on this comment.

Don’t kid yourselves…he is headed to NC State. He watched how Hickson was a one and done…now making millions. He will follow in the same footsteps. Not to mention that he and John Wall could end up there together…
