Washington DB Branden Smith narrows down to four schools
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Booker T. Washington cornerback Brandon Smith, who is ranked as the state’s No. 1 prospect by the AJC and Rivals, said he has narrowed down to four schools: Georgia, Florida, Florida State and Alabama.
He will announce his college decision on national TV from the Under Armour All-American Bowl on January 4.
Smith stated he has no favorites out of the four, but it appears that Georgia and Florida are the frontrunners. He has already been on an official visit to Florida, and will go to UGA on Dec. 12.
He will make an official visit to Alabama this weekend, which was originally scheduled for archrival Auburn before Smith subbed it out with Crimson Tide a couple of weeks ago. On Nov. 29, Smith will take a recruiting trip FSU on a weekend when he was originally scheduled for Clemson before coach Tommy Bowden departed.
If you have any questions for Branden Smith, please post them below and Branden will do his best to answer. And if you can find some big school flags …

Yes, go to Georgia where they have plenty of cb’s with your talent level that never seem to get better because of poor coaching.

So if he claims he has no favorites, what makes UF and UGA the fronrunners? Because they were the first places he visited?
He will find out this weekend that Bama is a great place to be!!!!
Roll Tide!!!!

Brandon, Would love for you to come to Georgia and start from day 1, but I know that its your life and you have to do what’s best for you.
However, can I request that you do something fun for your announcement on Jan 4 at the AA Bowl? Instead of picking a hat or something, pick up a giant flag and run around the stadium. Or have someone parachute out of the sky with your hat. I just want it to be interesting.

Please stop it with the fake names already and the spelling. It is obvious ly a nerd fan. Branden will follow his heart. He has grown up bleeding red and black. Plus Stafford and Moreno are coming back. Branden will fit right in.

Color Moreno and Stafford gone. Stafford projected as a top 5 pick and the team will probably take a step back next year and Moreno sees the writing on the wall. Don’t get me wrong, would love for both of them to stay another year as they won’t be able to be a senior in college ever again.

Branden although I believe your in for an eye opening expierence this weekend, I really think you should trip to Bama for the Auburn game 11/29. At any rate… Bama is #1… and very very young. Saban is well known for his hands on approach to coaching DB’s. With you and Dre Kirkpatrick (Bama lock) WOW! Good luck whereever you go. ROLL TIDE!!!

Im pretty sure you were there for the UGA/AL game and even know that wasn’t our day, it is hard to get that kind of excitement anywhere you go. Stay close to home to all the loyal fans at UGA. Look in the NFL and we have corners all over the place.
What do you think about returning punts as well?? Do you want to play right away or is that a factor to you??

Branden, You really need to come to UGA where you will definitly get play time from day 1, Look at all fresh we having playing this year, our recruiting class for the past couple of years, and who we have comming back next year, UGA will be a power for the next 5-6 years,
Plus Fla and Bama are loaded on D. You might get some play time your Junior Sr season. The coaches will say, ” You need time to develope” Dont believe the hype. Come to UGA where you will be appreciated. Ask Moreno, Green or anyone else about their superstar status in Athens. Your next.

Braden…come to the #1 team in the nation. Team with Star Jackson, Julio, Trent Richardson and Reuben Randall. We need a CB to groom behind Javy Aerenas and run back punts and kickoffs for TD’s. We are going to win the SEC the next 4 years! ROLL TIDE…come on down Braden…you can be the next All-American at Bama.

Branden,
All of these schools offer the same things: good coaching, put people in the NFL, good facilities, paly in the best conference in the country (except FSU), and quality academics. You need to decide upon where you feel the best and where you fit in the best. Good luck.

this “choose the hat” at the all-american game is ridiculous. i understand the media shamelessly promotes it and the recruits go nuts for it but it all seems juvenile to me. if someone was offering me an opportunity for a free education and to play the game i love, i would treat it more business-like and contact the coaches in a respectful, professional manner. it sets the tone for your undergraduate career.
Good luck, Branden. I know that you will make the best choice for you and your family. I look forward to watching you play regardless of where you enroll.
GO DAWGS!

I WOULD GET ON THE PHONE AND TRY AND FIND SOME SCHOOLS THAT WOULD LOOK AT HIM ON TAPE. 40 TIME, SIZE, POWER #’S. IF HE HAS A GOOD COACH AND HE THINKS HE CAN PLAY AT THE NEXT LEVEL HE WILL HELP.

ALABAMA can only provide the top rated defense that you need to support you. You need a top 5 D Line to pressue that QB. That will make you shine as all those pro scouts look at the Bama D each year.
When you are at Alabama, go to Denny Chimes and look at the hand prints there. Joe Namath, Cornelius Bennett, Derrick Thomas. You could be a part of the best tradition in the SEC.

this is Branden Smith and to derrick who son at villa rica HS. the advice that i can give him to put him self out there is to just keep working hard and just make a good highlight tape and send it off to all the colleges that he like and to rival.com,scout.com. its not hard but just tell hime that i said to keep doing his thing and it will pay off.

go to ugay and be another underachieving, underage drinking, ” student- athlete” ( this term could not be used more loosely at ugay)…and lose to Fl and Al every year ( oh, i forgot, probably won’t play bama again for 10 years)…..you’ll get Miss St and Old Miss instead!….

Go to FSU Branden. We need a solid CB like you. You could be the Noles next Prime Time or Cromartie! Plus the campus is great, fun school to go to. Anyone but the gates.
