Henry County QB Drew Little commits to Georgia State

Henry County quarterback Drew Little has committed to Georgia State, he confirmed Tuesday in a text message.

Little is the third recruit to commit to Georgia State, which will begin play in 2010 under head coach Bill Curry.

“I just felt way more comfortable around the coaches,” Little said. “I felt more wanted there than anywhere else.”

Little, who has passed for 8,588 yards in four years as a starter, took an official visit to Boston College last month. He has led the Warhawks to back-to-back region championships.

“I think that’s great for him, if that’s what he wants to do,” said Henry County coach Mike Rozier. “It’s a new program with coach Curry. I see a lot of positives. It gives him a chance to learn the system, hit the weights.”

It’ll be interesting watching this Ga. St. team develop over the next few years. Before you know it, they’ll probably be the best college team in Atlanta!

Georgia State over Boston College? You’ve got to be kidding.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained …

This is very impressive for State.

This guy was offered by Boston College and being looked at by Clemson & Tennessee.

This is the type of signing that can have a domino effect with H.S. players in the state of Georgia. By no means are they on the level of UGA and Tech but I bet Ga. Southern & Valdosta State are taking notice.

Thank you AJC for the way you have been putting Ga.State in the news (sports,metro,etc.)recently. It raises the profile of the school.

He a average QB, but good start for for Ga State

How will this work? They will start playing in 2010 so these guys will be out of football for a year? How will this affect their eligibility, will it be like a team full of redshirt and true freshmen?

“Average QB?” That’s what people said about Matt Ryan. Drew Little must possess something for a school of Boston College’s caliber to offer a scholarship. An ACC school that runs a pro style offense.

Even if he is “average” by ACC and/or SEC standards,Drew Little will not be playing in those conferences. He could very well dominate the CAA league in which State is scheduled to join in 2012. A league which has recently produced Joe Flacco, a 1st round draft pick, from Delaware and Marques Colston from Hofstra.

Anderson, You’re right about this so called “average” QB, he will definately excel. I played with him, against him, and now i’m watching him this year. This kid’s got alot of talent. He needs 450 more yards to break the all-time state record for passing yards. If Drew works on his footwork, and speed, he has the size and the cannon to be great.

BIG PANTHER. Putting “average QB” in bold, questions your motive, and discredits your blog. If you really knew anything about Drew Little, you would know that there is not anything “average” about him.

If that’s the case, Eagle watch, then why in God’s name would he choose GSU over BC? So Mom and Dad can watch him play? With all due respect, that’s pretty weak.

Way to go Drew! I know you will continue to thrive a do well at GA State. I think it is a great fit. GA State obviously see’s the same talent your fans see. Thanks for the great years at Henry High School, it has been alot of fun to watch! Now we can just drive north a bit to continue watching you throw that ball, the way you do!

Duke Yellowjacket. Re-read the article, I believe he tells why. I don’t know why. I doubt it has anything to do with his Mom and Dad though.

Don’t forget about former CAA football star Time Hightower now playing for the Arizona Cardinals. The CAA is the best FCS conference and Drew can get plenty of looks playing his home games in the Georgia Dome.

Also, in regards to Georgia State’s incoming recruits, they will take a RS year in 2009 and State will sign a second class of 30 in 2010 and begin play in the Fall of 2010 with roughly 65-70 players that will include transfers from other schools (instant eligibility at the FCS level), JUCO players, RS Freshman and the true freshman.

Go Panthers!

Eagle watch: The ‘mom and dad’ reference was speculation as to the underlying reason he chose GSU. Of course GSU would make him feel more wanted; they’re starting from scratch, for heaven’s sake! For a young man with such promise, it frankly seems like a waste of his talent. Big fish, meet small pond.

Duke. Obviously you are much more invested in HIS decision, than I am. So you can continue to be frustrated by HIS decision, and I will be happy for him, and we can both agree he is talented.

I have a question for your sports staff. Why are the small colleges in the Metro area and throughout the state get such little support from your staff. In the meanwhile other states give an excellent coverage to their local small colleges. Our high school sports coverage is excellent.

I’ve seen Little play in person several times over the past 3 seasons. He was getting noticed as a SOPH. Has had he benefit of some very good receiving talent in that time, but what good QB doesn’t? Nothing curious about picking a smaller school over a major one, especially given the fact that there are not too many people alive today who can say that they were part of a college football teams first ever recruiting class. Good job, Drew.

DUKE/YELLOWJACKET

The best thing you can do is keep routing for losers like Ga. Tech and Duke. Leave the real football to people that understand it and get off of Drew’s back. He picked state for reasons that meant something to him and I really don’t see where it is any of you business. Maybe your kids will want or have left home. I would be proud to know that my son would want me to see him play live. In other words shut up!

Tank:

Routing? You’re a f*ing moron - you STFU.

That said, I don’t claim that it is any of my business … but any responsible parent should encourage their children to strive to be the best they can be rather than merely be proud that they want me around. Besides, Delta flies directly into Boston’s Logan Airport six times daily!

The purpose of my posts have not been to denigrate Drew Little (a fine young man by all accounts) or the budding Georgia State football program - both of whom I wish the very best. But aside from maybe picking your future spouse, what more important decision does one make in life than choosing where to attend college? It would certainly appear that Drew’s favorite receiver has figured that out.
