Valdosta OL Antonio Foster switches from Tennessee to Georgia Tech

Valdosta offensive lineman Antonio Foster told the AJC that he has switched his commitment from Tennessee to Georgia Tech.

“Yes, it’s true,” Foster confirmed on Tuesday afternoon. “I’m on the way to football practice … and I’ll be able to talk about it more later.”

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Foster switched after Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer announced on Monday that he would resign at season’s end.

Tech is not a surprise pick for Foster, who narrowly picked Tennessee over the Yellow Jackets last July. He also had offers from South Carolina and South Florida.

Great news. I’m glad to see Coach Johnson continue to recruit Georgia hard. I know it was a tough decision, players make attachments to coaches and when things change, their situation changes too. Best of luck to Antonio for the rest of his senior year.

Hey this is just fair since it happened to us last off season. This stuff happens to all programs at one time or another. I predict we may get one or two more from Tenn.

Great for him — he switched from one loser to another, but at least he’s a loser closer to home!

Amen, God Bless!

PeterEaters! is right.

Antonio you should go to UGA, but only if you enjoy getting roughed up by the real teams in the SEC like Alabama and Florida.

UGA is a cute little whipping boy for those other schools.

You made a great choice young man. You’ll get a great education and win a ton of games in CPJ system.

Sad to say that poor old YellerSkeeter is still no better. He is still suffering from a massive inferiority complex. I still hope you eventually overcome this complex, Skeeter (although I am certain that it is even tougher since the Dawgs have been blown out this year by the only two good teams they have faced). I also hope you can overcome your homosexual tendencies you have (if that is adding to your complex - but if you are comfortable with it, good luck).

Antonio: Welcome to Tech !! I could tell from reading about your earlier decision to go to UT that you are very special. You have seized both a tremendous football and academic opportunity. Congratulations.

I guess this dispells the myth that GT will only recruit under-sized OL to fit CPJ’s system. 6-4 290 (in HS no less) is not a small lineman.

I am a Dawg fan and a season ticket holder to our high school team - Tift Co. Bluedevils. I saw Tift Co. play Valdosta last Friday night in Tifton. Foster is a bull. He will be a very good run blocker on my humble opinion. For a bid fella he gets low and drives his man backwards. I suspect Johnson will coach him up and have a good OL in a year or two. He seems strong enough already to compete in college football. Good move to drop Tenn.

I don’t think my comments came through. To repeat: GREAT news about Smith and Foster! The stars are coming out to shine for a solid team and coach!
