Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino gets commitment from East Paulding’s Brown
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
East Paulding running back Jahron Brown pulled the trigger on a commitment to Arkansas Monday evening.
“It’s very exciting,” the 5-foot-11, 214-pound Brown said. “I never really thought of being an Arkansas Razorback, but they gave me a full ride.
“And I’d love to play for coach [Bobby] Petrino. None of this has hit me yet, but I know it will.”
Brown is the first Georgia player this year to commit to Petrino, who abruptly resigned as coach of the NFL’s Falcons during last season to take over at Arkansas. Petrino returned to his stomping grounds last year to sign two prospects from the state, including Chattahoochee defensive back Elton Ford.
Brown, whose other offer is from Western Carolina, plans to take an official visit to Fayetteville, Ark., in December or January.

I’ve enjoyed watching Jahron play at EP for the last 3 seasons. He plays the game the way it’s meant to be played. Congratulations and good luck at Arkansas.

As an East Paulding Grad i say good luck Jahron. But i also agree with eric. I would not go play for Patrino if he were the last coach on earth after what he did to the Falcons. Good Luck Arkansas Jahron.

I hope Jahron realizes that the chances of Coach Petrino being at Arkansas for 4 years is 0%.

At what point does it become old news that Coach Petrino left the Falcons? It seems the Falcons are over it, shouldn’t you be as well?

Need to just wait and see if another D1 offer comes in. I would not let my kid go play for a snake like Petrino, he will be gone in a few years anyways. You will get another D1 offer before signing day, just use this one as a hold until it comes. Petrino is scum. Also have heard there are some grade problems, that is why big schools haven’t been all over him.

Welcome Jahron, make all the naysayers eat their words. Arkansas is on it’s way, and in a couple of years, you will be returning to Atlanta — in the SEC Championship Game.

As for Petrino, I couldn’t care less that he left the Falcons. I’m actually grateful that he left. I just wonder how any recruits can have faith in a “man” that has shown such poor character. A liar and a hypocrite. He just looks like a loser, talks like a loser, walks like a loser.

Welcome Jahron to the Razorbacks. I know that I will enjoy watching you play. Don’t pay any attention to the bull about Petrino. Petrino is a great Coach. Arkansas will be a different team in two or three more years. You will help accomplish this. Enjoy your time in Arkansas, as you are now a member of this state wide family. Wooo Pig Sooie Razorbacks.

Maybe Petrino will stay and maybe he’ll leave. Do you losers think that’s any different than the situation anywhere else. Is Saban a guarantee at bammer? Miles at LSU? Heck no. You guys have got to grow up and quit acting like jilted prom dates. Petrino took an ANNUAL pay cut equal to more most of you will make in your entire careers to get out of the WORST organization in the NFL. Senior management, Mike Vick and their thug mentality is what doomed the Faclons in 2007. Petrino couldn’t and didn’t want to deal with it and he left. None of you wanted him anyway - so quit crying over him. To the Falcons credit they have dumped the thugs and hired a real NFL coach and things are looking up for them. Over in Fayetteville, Nutt left the cupboard bare but Hog fans are happy to have Petrino. It’s called win-win.

Congrats Jahron!! It’s been a pleasure watching you play and drag defenders down thee field. Too bad your new coach was a quitter, a coward, and a cancer, but perhaps he’s getting better at Arkansas. CSR - What little thug mentality there might have been left with Petrino, Vick, and Hall, and SF and Oakland are much worse organizations, just to mention two.

After any article related to Arkansas on the AJC, I always look forward to scanning the comments afterward to witness the idiotic and uninformed responses slamming Petrino. I am never disappointed!
All these posters prove is their own personal lack of understanding of how college (and NFL) football works as a business; and, further, that they are either incapable of original thought, or merely too lazy to do their own. Instead, they are totally reliant upon the media (I won’t call them journalists because that word increasingly has nothing to do with what is being shown on TV - or even in many “newspapers”) for their opinions.
It’s funny to me how the ESPN mafia and all of the Falcon fans boldly predicted that no quality recruits would listen to “Petrino’s lies” - yet, one recruiting service has his class of commitments (so far) rated in the top 15 in the nation! So much for all of you armchair experts!
You folks in Georgia will see plenty of Arkansas over the next few years … right about the first week in December.
