Lowndes DB Greg Reid loves everything about Florida except for one thing
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Lowndes defensive back Greg Reid, the frontrunner for the state’s all-classification player of the year, turned heads when he made an unofficial visit to Georgia last Saturday.
However, Reid said he’s “totally committed” to Florida and loves everything about the Gators. Well except for one thing, the way he is greeted by Florida coach Urban Meyer.
“He’s kind of rough,” Reid said with a laugh. “He’s not the type of coach to shake your hand. He just comes up and punches you in the chest. And that man is pretty strong.”

Urban Cryer is a punk! Come to Athens and play for a great coach that will not only guide you in football but also in life and prepare you for what lies ahead other than football son.

You would love Richt. Go to UGA and let everyone tell you how great your team is, then watch as you consistently lose 2 games a year, one of them to Urban.

Greg I think your best choice is going to be at Georgia. Coach Richt is honest. Playing for him would be just like playing for Coach Mac.

For all the other players in the state of Georgia: Run with them what brought you to the show…that’d be The University of Georgia.

Haha, I love Coach Meyer. I’m really glad Greg is in this class. He’s going to see early playing time on ST, that’s for sure.

How come no one has given an update on LB Eric Fields? He was already wavering on his commitment to Clemson before Tommy Bowden got fired. No one has reported anything about his feelings towards Clemson now, or Georgia. Does anyone know anything?

UGA is a joke. One of the most over rated teams every year. We have been owning UGA for the past 20 years.
Hey mutts, how many NC do you have in the last 25 years?

Reid will not see the field for UF or any SEC team for at least 2 years. Definite JUCO.
uga is not recruiting fields. They got the 3 lbs they wanted in this class, with the exception of the Jones kid out of Carver, who they will hold a ship for.

You might as well go to Florida where ESPN will crown you king and usher you into the title game whether you deserve it or not.
And anyone who would buy into what Urban Cryer is selling is not a player I would want - shows lack of wisdom. He’s as sleezy as they come.

My, how fast the Georgia fans turn on their own. This kid made a choice to attend Florida and now he is a vilian. Remember this when you start at Florida Greg. Remember how the citizens of Georgia belittled you.

Lets see prepares you for life? You mean a life of crime right? Whats your arrest sheet up to 12 players? It’s pathetic and a disgrace to the SEC! The FSU of the 00’s, What could Reid see in Florida? Rings, the loudest most revered stadium in the country, CBS SEC game of the week almost every week, a Coach who wants nothing less than perfection, a university with strong academics, a city and environment that has more to offer than getting drunk, theres alotttttt of reasons Ga’s finest leave the state. Maybe it’s the people from reading the comments. I don’t know, lets go ask Cam Newton!

You made the right choice Greg. UGA hasn’t seen a Nat’l Championship in football in close to 30 years and they’ve only beaten Florida 3 out of the last 18. Why on earth would you want to play for a program like that?

Note to all UF and UGA fans - Greg Reid is not going to either of your schools - he cannot get in due to his grade situation. If he does get in - then somebody needs to call the NCAA because there is something fishy going on! Reid is one of the most talented players I have ever seen, but he is not cutting it in the classroom or on the SAT. Really a sad situation for him. So all you UF and UGA fans knock yourself out fighting over Reid - neither one of you will get him. Reid will be at a JUCO - mark my words.

I think Greg Reid would be open to staying in his home state but he has no real place to play at UGA. This guy needs the ball in his hands. He is the next Harvin. We need to look at some of the players at Coffee County High School. Coffee has some fine athletes. Look for the results this week of Coffee against Valdosta High. A deflated Northside team went into Coffee County’s home stadium week before last and gutted out a win versus a fine and highly athletic team of Trojans. Lets see if the Trojans can rebound. I was at the Northside - Cofffee game, the Lowndes -North side game, and will be at the Valdosta - Coffee game also I saw the North side -Valdosta game and will be present at single largest event annually in Georgia High School Football each year the classic at MC McConnell Talbert Stadium. People it looks like a week Northside ,Warner Robins team could pull this thing off, just by doing the right thing. Its high school football let the boys play. Why on earth would a team with 3,000 to 4,ooo students like Lowndes be playing some players both ways. Has it come to the point where winning a high school football game is more important than building character in the future leaders in our society. Do we as parents need to look into this. Can a parent or responsible adult for a young man at Tucker High School , Northside,Warner Robins, Statesboro, Valdosta, Parkview, MLK , Brookwood,Southwest Dekalb, ECI,Lincoln County, Rome, Westside , Macon, Brooks County, Clinch County , Marist High School, Thomas County, Cairo, Carver, Columbus, Fitzgerald, Grayson0 or the great Buford High or any of the young men trying to do the right thing out there on the football field. Can we as leaders look the other way as some coaches, mind you coaches we wanted in the position simply look to win a game. why don’t we see these young men at UGA or TECH or UFA or some where. WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. WHY IS THE PLAYER THE AJC IS WANTING TO GRANT PLAYER OF THE YEAR STATUS TO NOT EVEN QUALIFIED TO PLAY COLLEGE BALL. I would like an answer just call me crazy I guest. But we have some players worthy of such recognition both on and off the field. Look at the great young pending Bulldog legend ABRY JONES this young man exemplifies everything we all say we want in a student athlete. Qualified academically as a junior he will not be the kind of embarrassment as some have been in the past as AJC Players of the year. Abry Jones, think of Travis Stroud or Richard Seymour with the heart of Jonathon Pollack. He’s 6’5” 278 only played football 3 years wait till he sees the weight room.

Player of the year should be qualified to play at the next level. Or an acknowledgment that all that matters is football and not character. AJC just say it out loud.

B.S. Coffee lost because #1 they can’t punt #2 they can’t cover kicks #3 they can’t hold on to the ball (3 turnovers) and #4 they can’t throw the ball accurately more than 20 yards but the coaching was O.K. As for Greg Reid - UGA already has Carlton Thomas and they just got a commitment from Wooten - both play at Reid’s position and both are better than him… so go to the GATORS AND RIDE THE DEPTH CHART there — maybe you can play some by your Jr. year.

Watching Greg Reid play week in and out, I have to say he would be a better fit in Florida. As for the entire criminal acts are a joke. Coach Richt is not these guys parents.
Hell, ask Urban Meyer why one of his players was using a dead girl’s credit card. How about the kid breaking into the auto salvage yard for his girlfriend. What a champ. The only player without a thugish mentality that warrants any respect is Tebow. Catch is, that mentality wins championships. Swamp Buggy, take note of this, Greg Reid is a great player and I would hate to see him torch Georgia like Eric Berry does at Tennessee. Bill, give up the damn celebration thing, it is the past. No, while you are at it, let’s bring Wrueffel back and the ole’ ball coach.

(1) Georgia is the second best team in the state of Georgia…GT has more championships in the past 25 years and beat the pups in Athens this year. Wow. (2) Georgia’s fight song is “I’ve been workin’ on the railroad”…very original. (3) The world’s largest outdoor cocktail party is just that…a cocktail party, cause Georgia hasn’t brought a fight but 3 times in the past 18 years. I see the uncertainty and fear in bulldog fans every year as they stumble through the streets of Jacksonville.
Come on down Greg Reid…Georgia just doesn’t have much going for them.
