Recruiting Inside The Stat: North Gwinnett’s Mike Tamburo
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

80 — percent of passes (16 of 20) completed in a victory against Northview by North Gwinnett’s Mike Tamburo, a member AJC’s The Georgia 150. He talked with staff writer Jay Stone about the game.
— Best performance ever? “I’m pretty sure that was my best one ever. The coaches just called good plays, and I made the right reads. The receivers made plays for me.”
— Which play worked the best? “We ran a group of plays, wheels, corners, hitches, make them choose one or the other. If the DBs stayed back, I threw it underneath. If they moved up, I’d throw it downfield.”
— On teammate Tyler Jarry, who had 10 catches for 105 yards? When you look at him he looks like an athlete, but you can tell he’s as good as he really is. He’s got a 38-inch vertical [leap] and he’s really good at route-running. He never drops a ball in the game. He had three different catches off of pressure drills the other night.”
— What percentage he targeted before season? “[North Gwinnett coach Bob] Sphire has 70 percent as his goal every year, so that’s what we’re shooting for.”
— Whether he knew how high the completion percentage was? “I kind of knew it was around that. I knew I only had a couple of incompletions. I knew I executed pretty good. The Chattahoochee game [the week before] was one of the worst games in my high school career, so I really focused the next week in practice.”

Tamburo for the Heisman in 2012. Enough already - overhyped and overrated.

Duke Yellow you make me sick. Number 1 you never played football unless as kid on the playground which you were picked last. number 2 why wouldnt you be happy for the kid? He is only 18 yrs old. Does that you make you feel better or superior by saying something like that? Number 3 you obviously have never seen the kid play because if you have you never would have written something ignorant like that. Number 4 nobody is saying that he he’s the best thing since Eric Zeir or Shawn Jones as a QB.Have you even looked at his stats? In the best football factory in North Georgia in Gwinnett? Peachtree Ridge, Brookwood, Parkview, Norcross, Collins Hill, Grayson, Buford,Shiloh, S. Gwinnett, N. Gwinnett, etc.? Not saying that E. Paulding, Harrison, Roswell, Mceachern, etc. are not good but geographically speaking Gwinnett is the strongest county in N. Ga.? Irregardless, he has unbeleivable stats. I have been watching him since he started as a soph. Number 5 Giff Smith was my roomate in college and I know for a fact that if Tamburo wasnt left handed GT would have already offered him. Dont beleve me send me an email and I will tell you who I am then you can email Giff. Not that he would respond to someone like you. Number 6 I am the LB coach for the 8th grade team, which is not a high school or middle school position in Gwinnett and played for another high school in the 80’s with Troy Sadowski (played in the NFL for 11 yrs All-American at UGA) and Steve Wallace( starting Off. tackle for the 49’ers and Joe Montana) played with Tracy Ham and Giff in college at Ga. Southern, So I have no ties to that school and I can evaluate talent. Number 7 he will get offered by major d1 school. Feel stupid yet? So before you make ignorant statements like that in the future have some evidence to back it up. By the way, Im not bragging about my credentials but just letting you know I have just a little credibility. I cant believe I am even wasting my time responding but wtf ever idiot!!!!
