How It Went: Tucker’s Davis chats with South Carolina’s Spurrier

Tucker’s Jonathan Davis, the ninth-best middle linebacker in the nation according to Scout.com, attended Saturday’s LSU-South Carolina SEC contest in Columbia.

One of the highlights included a conversation with South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier.

“We talked for about 10 minutes,” said Davis, a member of the AJC’s The Georgia Top 150 who is being recruited by the Gamecocks as a strong safety.

“He asked me how my visit was going. He said ‘nice to meet you’ and that he looks forward to me playing there.”

Davis, who is weighing scholarship offers from Boston College, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Oklahoma State, South Carolina and UAB, admitted that the Gamecocks gained ground over the weekend.

“That visit put South Carolina above [the others],” he said. “It’s still an even playing field, and I’m looking at my options. But I’m still liking South Carolina.”

How in the world does Spurrier still convince good players to come to South Carolina knowing they will always underachieve?

I mean really… I think Spurrier will be outta there pretty soon.

Jonathan - come to Tech!

Let him go to where he wants to go. Since great high school players are not always good in college and good high schoolers can be great, I rather have someone who’s number one choice is Tech!

It really hacks me off that JD has such great schools trying to recruit him. Anyone that knows him would tell you how much of an idiot the guy is! He doesn’t do any school work or homework. He’s good on the field, maybe, but even there many say he’s the most ignorant prick to walk this earth. Does anyone know why he plays at Tucker? He was expelled from St. Pius X! The coaches treated him special and pulled strings for him so they could keep him and he managed to fail out anyways! There are so many more players that are talented in areas besides the football field and deserve to get a chance at a school like BC! Not only that, but there are students all across the world who will have worked harder than JD there whole lives (not that thats hard. all you have to do is think about doing your homework) and never get the chance at these schools because its too expensive or their GPA is off by .001… yet JD the guy who’s at the reading level off a 2nd grader gets a chance at whatever school he would like FOR FREE.

All I have to say is Spurrier is making a stupid decision by relying on JD. He’ll fail out before the first season’s over, leaving the Gamecocks high and dry.

You guys are idiots. Do you really think that Spurrier will get fired or just quit? He’s already prooved himself and doesn’t let morons like yourselves to bring him down. That’s why he is successful and yall are on here ridiculing him.
As far as Jonathan Davis is concerned; yall sound jealous that you didn’t get this guy. Gamecocks have such a good defense and recruiting class coming in that I’ve never even heard of this guy. The point is that this guy liked Columbia and snubbed yall’s fav. team to play for the man yall despise. Have a nice day and GO COCKS!
