How It Went: Bremen’s Stansberry visits Troy

Bremen offensive lineman Jay Stansberry, a Troy commit, visited his future college home Saturday night to watch the Trojans host Florida International. It was his first game day experience at Troy.

“It went really well,” said Stansberry, a member of the AJC’s The Georgia Top 150 who had previously viewed scrimmages at Troy. “They had a bunch of fans come to the game.

“There was a lot of tailgating. It was a great atmosphere.”

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Stansberry attended the game with his father, mother and sister. They departed during the third quarter after the temperature dropped.

Stansberry said he’s unique among other Troy recruits in the class of 2009.

“I know a lot of their linemen are coming out of junior colleges,” he said. “I’m one of the few coming out of high school.”

When asked if other schools, such as Georgia Tech, are continuing to recruit him, Stansberry offered a quick response.

“I’m set on Troy,” he said.
