Defending Class A champion Emanuel County Institute features a roster with three major college prospects, including Tech commitment J.C. Lanier. They’ll be on different sides of the fight next year.
Lanier predicts success on the collegiate level for teammates Washaun Ealey and Dexter Moody, who have committed to Georgia. And he thinks he’ll also make his mark at Tech.
“Washaun is going up there where they have a great running backs coach [Tony Ball],” Lanier said. “They’ll develop him into a tremendous running back. And Dex can play about anything he wants to play. He’s an all-around athlete.”
The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Lanier intends to make an impact of his own next fall at Tech.
“Coach Smith said he’ll play the best man,” Lanier said of Tech defensive line coach Giff Smith. “And I plan on working hard and being that best man.”
