South Atlanta’s Derrick Favors, ranked as the nation’s No. 1 basketball prospect by Scout, is taking an official visit to N.C. State this weekend.
The 6-foot-9 Favors has already taken recruiting trips to Georgia and Georgia Tech, and will go to Memphis on Oct. 24. He is also considering Florida State, but has not yet scheduled an official visit.
South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick said N.C. State will be different than the first two trips for Favors. “With Georgia and Georgia Tech, we were dealing with people and places that Derrick has known for years. N.C. State will give Derrick a chance to see how things are outside of Atlanta and the state of Georgia. It will be interesting to see how he likes it that far away from home.”
There are rampant rumors that Favors is deciding between Georgia and Georgia Tech, but Reddick said Favors is “keeping an open mind” to all five of the finalists.
