Washington DB Branden Smith cancels Clemson, adds FSU

Booker T. Washington cornerback Branden Smith, who is ranked as the state’s No. 1 prospect by numerous recruiting publications, said Tuesday night that he has canceled his official visit to Clemson.

Smith said he has replaced Clemson with Florida State on his list of five visits, and will make a recruiting trip to watch the Seminoles play Florida on Nov. 29.

Smith made his first official visit to Florida last weekend, and has trips planned for Tennessee on Oct. 25, Auburn on Nov. 15, and Georgia (undetermined).

Smith began considering other schools to visit shortly after Tommy Bowden stepped down as Clemson’s coach on Monday.

How serious is Smith about FSU? He said he not planned on visiting Tallahassee until he dropped Clemson, but has been following the Seminoles on television.

“They’ve always had a great program with great coaches, and they are losing a lot of defensive backs so I thought it would be good situation to check out,” Smith said.

Smith again stressed that he has “no favorites” and is still open to hearing from any colleges.

Why go to FSU? Are there not 5 better opportunities? FSU? seriously? i’ll give you 5 schools to set up: UGA, UF, UT, Auburn and Miami or Bama. All of these programs will be better than FSU for the next 5 years. What’s wrong with you Branden.

Whoo Hoo! That is a good thing for the Noles! Sounds good to me!! We always have a punishing Defense and Cromartie can tell you we foster guys goin to the league early from the defensive backfield!

Branden, When you are choosing your college, you should pick one that is strong in the field that you want to make your career. If you want to be a vet, go to Auburn or Georgia. If you want law, Harvard or Stanford. Business? Georgia State is fantastic. Chemical engineer, eorgia Tech. If you want to play football on Sundays, just take a look at the defensive backs that UGA puts in the pros. The list is long and distinguished. Off the top of my head, Sean Jones, Jermaine Phillips, Champ Bailey, Terrell Bierra, Thomas Davis, Greg Blue, Tim Jennings, Paul Oliver…and thats just current. Be true…Be a Dawg!

If you talking Championships why would someone consider UGA. Every year the same hype the same let down. It kills me when UGA fans are critical of another school when they haven’t won anything in almost 30 years. And if you talking the NFL the most players on NFL rosters this year are from Miami and FSU. Think about it

NFL rosters, championships…..get real. B. Smith go where the education is right for you. The rest will take care of itself. If you are considering NFL rosters as a senior in HS, you have already taken your eye off the ball. Forget all that crap and learn, have fun and play ball. You will be alot more happy and successful in life, and if you are good enough, the pro scouts will let you know regardless of what campus you are on.

Why Tennessee? It’s not like their coach isn’t getting fired this year either.

Tommy “stepped down for the good of the program”…didn’t get fired. All this recruiting stuff is BS anyway.

The Dawgs are always National Championship contenders (only before the season and only to dawg fans). And the staff will make sure you get your degree and will help you stay out of jail. So if you want no rules or accountability and a lot of talk about national championships and dominating before the season, and crying and excuses after the season, GO TO GEORGIA, if for the funny @ss “blackouts” alone.

FSU has the number 2 Defense in the country right now. There are not 5 better options as another said on here. If you are a defensive guy and want to go the NFL, MIckey Andrews is the guy to make that happen for you at FSU. GOO NOOOLESSS!

Too bad tech fans can’t spell “to”. Too bad Tech cant even win its conference. Too bad tech is the joke by coke. LSU lost Bo and there went the D there. Think you better take a long look at who UGA is losing in the defensive backfield. You could start next year in the nickle formation, easily.

If you want to go to school and get playing time in the back field go to South Carolina. They really have nobody back there and losing Davis this year. That’s where I would go if I were you.

Mr. Smith take that trip to FSU and you’ll love it man! Hell go anywhere but Uga where the fans are fake and they don’t know anythang bout football. You are a playmakers and FLORIDA ST has alot of playmakers in the NFL THAT YOU CAN JOIN WHEN U COME OUT OF FSU! AND THE ONLY BULLDOGS I LOOK AT IS THE WASHINGTON HIGH BULLDOGS! WISH JONES WOULD HAVE TOOK HIS GAME SOMEWHERE ELSE 2

Geoff, I just didnt want to sound like a homer. Terry College of Business..BBA 1985, MBA University of Miami 1992. It has served me well. Great business school and the number one ranked Risk Management and Insurance degree in the Nation.

Another great reason to be Dawg.

You don’t ave to be too close to FSU’s program to know it’s on the way back up to one of the nation’s best. 4-1 with only 5 seniors, yet leading the ACC in almost every category and having the country’s 2nd best defense. Soph QB playing awesome and the #2QB recruit now a freshman.

Jeff Bowden is gone and so is most of his dead weight.

Jimbo Fisher is running a sharp program whether you like the ‘Noles or not. He is a class act and has turned this program around. Another top 5 recruiting class is loading up. Future is bright.
