Clemson loses two recruits within hours of Bowden’s departure

Clemson lost two of its top 2009 commitments within hours of coach Tommy Bowden’s resignation on Monday, according to TigerIllustrated.com.

Defensive back Craig Loston of Aldine, Texas, who was ranked as country’s No. 21 overall prospect by Scout, told the website he is finished with Clemson and will likely decide between Texas, LSU, Oregon.

Safety DeVonte Holloman of Rock Hill, S.C., has also backed off his commitment to Clemson. He said he’s looking at South Carolina and LSU.

Georgia Tech and Georgia do not appear to be heavily involved with either Loston or Holloman.

Baldwin linebacker Corico Hawkins, the only Georgia player committed to Clemson, told the AJC’s Phil Giltman on Monday that he remains loyal to the Tigers.

Who in the world would choose to attend Clemson?

Why would they not go to Clemson. Kids elect to play for his OLDDDDDDDDDD man at FSU and every time you see that demented, senile old coot one recalls a remake of “Weekend At Bernie’s’.

I think that recruits who decommit from schools because a head coach that was given 10 years to produce and did not produce was let go,there hearts were not really in the school in the first place, you have a lot of coaches on these staff’s that scout you and ask the head man to authorize a SS for you, coaches who stand behind you thru thick and thin, they deseve the same backing from you, waht about the other coaches on the staff and players who give nothing but blood sweat and tears,so to give up on a school because the head coach is fired speaks volumes about the decommits because no matter what you still would have had to line up with the same players next year, and even thoe it hurts to see a coach fired,if your own a job and you not producing they fire you, tommy bowden was making over a million dollars a year to go 7-5 or 8-4 and hasn’t won a acc crown since he stepped on campus, good man, good coach, but 10 years is enough to determine if he is the coach to return clemson to its past glory, the talent is there, but the coaching is not,you build a good football program starting with coaches who have actually won something, games mean nothing if you don’t win titles bottom line.I think clemson will rise out of the ashes to be special, but its gonna take a special coach, and special players!!!

Its not about why would they choose to go to clemson,I like clemson ,I like Georgia ,I like a lot of schools,if they commited to clemson then they had clemson on there list, does a player really decommit because a head coach is fired or is it the 3-3 record, bottom line clemson lost 4 players from there o-line ,every starting line backer, and two starting d-linemen,and another to the draft, how in the world could you think they would be better than they were last year, not gonna happen.Recruits have to relize that change is good,I knew in the wake game they were gonna give up that 3rd and 24,because they always run the same D in those situations, drop 8 rush 3,perdictable ,and they never seem to rotate all the D linemen they have, they have talent, but had the wrong head coach!!!!!

Holloman played at Independence HS (Cox, Massaquoi, Raley, Brannon) in Charlotte until this year, and I know he’s visited UGA before (camp?). FWIW.

“to return clemson to its past glory”…..you gotta be kidding….WHAT past glory? Except for one year under dubious circumstances they’ve NEVER had ANY glory.

What Brannon are you talking about? Southerland is from Georgia and played at either GAC or Dacula. Just curious as to who you are talking about.

Bowden had it coming, when you are average in a sh!tty league you deserve to be fired. When you start blaming other coaches and players for losing then you have lost them and everything starts to fall apart. You can win at Clemson, the situation reminds me of Donnan at Georgia. Win 7 or 8 games, lose to the big boys, beat one every now again, recruit very well, and never get over the edge to the next level.

Whether it is Bobby Johnson, Butch Jones, VanGorder, Petrino : ), or whoever, you should be able to win at least the ACC every year.

—Sounds like sour grapes to me, “They just told us. He deserves it!” Cullen Harper got benched Sunday for not performing and he says that the coach deserves to get fired for not performing! The pot calling the kettle black don’t you think?

Why do georgia fans act like there has never been any cheating going on at there fine university, please, this is big time football,it goes on every where, most of there star players are not even from georgia,we got beat by bama, you guys got the H* beat out ya’ll,bama takes there gamers out and ya’ll put some points on the board to make it look closer than what it really was!!!!!

I second that Tigervil. There is a hypocrisy like none other at UGA. The fans are the worst, and with a few exceptions, nobody on that football team would ever had been admitted had it not been for FOOTBALL! Hold up, before any of you UGAY fans talk smack about GT, we let them in as well. I think its absurd to think that these guys are student athletes, they are there to PLAY football! MONEY is the driving force behind everything. So all you UGA fans who are holier that thou, just shut up, because your program was and has been one of the DIRTIEST around! Just get over it!

Keep crying tech fans. we got a dirty program, how about letting reuban houstin play after he received ONE HUNDRED pounds of pot. his a* would of been gone at UGA. now on to your great win this past weekend. 10-7 against GW? A one 1-aa school? that’s pathetic and yall needed a blocked FG to win it. dont say “oh we didn’t have or starting QB” its A 1-AA school, your third string should be able to win by 30. i can’t wait til we make it 8 in a row and can’t wait to hear your excuses then. 7 IN A ROW!!!

I have never seen so many people on here who cannot spell or express themselves in grammatical English. I’d be ashamed to display my ignorance on the internet as they do. Has it become that the cliche about football players also applies to the fans?

Well teacher, it looks like you may have taught some of the student athletes. Take a look in the mirror. If you insist on critiquing grammar or syntax, start with your own blogs. Never end a sentence with a preposition. Right?? It’s just a blog teacher, it’s really not that big a deal…:)

7 in a row, have to keep telling you that 8 in a row wil tie the record, 9 in a row will be a record. But, they probably did not teach math in the middle school that you graduated from.
