Roswell OL Cade Yates to check out Samford

Roswell tackle Cade Yates’ recruiting visit this weekend to Samford’s game against Appalachian State will be a homecoming of sorts. He’s looking forward to seeing Bulldogs quarterback Dustin Taliaferro, with whom he played two seasons at Roswell.
“I want to ask him what he likes about [Samford],” Yates said. “It wouldn’t change my decision to go there, but it’d be a plus.”
Yates has interest from Jacksonville State, Samford, Tennessee-Martin, Eastern Kentucky, Air Force, Georgia State, Furman and Wofford.
At 6-foot-2, 270 pounds, Yates expects he’ll have to bulk up to be competitive in college. He benches 300 pounds and squats 495, but attending Jacksonville State’s game last weekend convinced him he’d do better to bench about 375 and squat 600.
“In college, everything is stronger and faster,” he said. ““I wish I could grow a couple inches.”

Have watched Cade play since the 2006 season championship and he has been their mainstay and best and most consistant lineman todate. Coach McFarlin was quoted after Cade made the 2007 North Fulton all county team as the only Junior to do so that he considered him “The best offensive lineman in the area” and I could not agree more! Good for you Cade and I hope good things continue to come your way.

Cade - good for you! Wish you the best of luck the remainder of this season in closing out a great High School career and on to the next level in college.
