Flowery Branch QB Connor Shaw leaning toward following brother to Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech’s 27-0 victory against Duke on Saturday was extra-satisfying for Jackets recruit Connor Shaw, a junior at Flowery Branch.
He watched as older brother, Tech freshman quarterback Jaybo Shaw, enjoyed a banner day in his first start for the Jackets.
“It was real exciting to see Jaybo perform like that,” Connor Shaw said. “When I got up in the stands, my heart was pumping a million miles per hour.
“I was real nervous until that first snap. But he performed real well.”
Shaw, who has a scholarship offer from Tech, expects to make a commitment no later than the start of his senior season.
“I got my first offer [from Tech] this summer,” Shaw said. “And I’m being recruited by Vanderbilt, Clemson and Wake Forest.
“Georgia Tech is my number one right now.”
Clemson, Tech and Wake Forest are recruiting Shaw as an athlete. Vanderbilt likes Shaw as a quarterback, his current position at Flowery Branch.

Conner, if you have the grit that your older brother has, you will do great at Tech. Hope you will be our first commitment when your time comes.

Conner, If you did come to Tech where would you play.. We only need one QB and I think Jaybo has that job here at GT. However I still would to see you here at at the flats. CK

Buzzkey, what the heck are you talking about? We’re playing our #2 quarterback, more than half the ACC is currently playing their #2 quarterbacks with NC State and Virginia on QB #3. So absolutely every team needs more than 1 QB, perhaps particularly option teams. Connor is currently a Junior, while Nesbitt is a RS Soph, and Jaybo is a Fresh. IF Connor comes to Tech and red shirts his first season, by his RS-FR season Nesbitt will be gone, Jaybo will be a senior and Connor will be eligible to be the #1 back-up for a year (where clearly he will get plenty of snaps) and “the man” for 3 years. Sounds like a good arrangement for Connor AND for Tech. Go Jackets!

Do the math guys. Jaybo Is a freshman and Connor is only a Jr in high school. That means they overlap 2 seasons and if Connor does a redshirt, then its only 1 season. That gives him a year to run back up and 3 years to play. And if he moves to another position as an “athlete” then he has 4 years. Come on to Tech, we need you.

Why is it that everyone is quick to have Shaw as the starter.Nesbitt is the starter as of right now until coach decides to give the controls over to Shaw.Nesbitt is a hell of a quarterback and he should be the starter until they start having problems.

Bring it on. I believe he is a great receiver also.

Fact is though. Nesbitt is a starter but w/ a nagging hamstring problem that could turn more serious w/ time. Little Shaw could prove very valuable next year should Nesbitt’s health continue to deteriorate. Smart move to come in and expect to play by soph year.
I think Nesbitt is our best option at this point but hammy injuries linger on and on and he could very well revert back to his spring form if he doesn’t play soon. Worse case scenario for this team is for Nesbitt to sit out another game and then try to regain conditioning and poise in a hostile CLemson environment w/ a good defense. That could spell disaster. IF CPJ is smart, he will play Nez against GWebb even if its 50/50 playing time w/ Shaw. We’ll need him against the bigger d-lines of UNC, FSU,and Clemson- to make those spectacular plays even though Johnson says the QB just needs to manage the offense and it will take care of itself.

SHAW SQUARED! I have been saying this for a couple weeks now, it would be sweet! Can you imagine Nesbitt and Dwyer as Seniors, Jaybo as a junior and Conner as a freshmen. Unstoppable!
