Auburn, Stanford make recruiting pitches to Tech-bound LB Emanuel Dieke

Auburn and Stanford haven’t given up on luring North Clayton linebacker Emanuel Dieke away from his commitment to Georgia Tech.

“Some have got the picture that I’m committed to Tech, but there are one or two that are still [recruiting me],” said Dieke, who confirmed that he continues to hear from the Tigers and Cardinal.

But Auburn and Stanford’s pleas appear to be falling on deaf ears.

“Things are great with Tech,” said Dieke, an AJC’s The Georgia Top 150 choice. “The program is looking good. They’re winning games.

“I hope to get there in the spring and help the team.”

Dieke likes the fact that Tech coach Paul Johnson is open to playing freshmen on a regular basis.

“He puts the best players on the field,” said Dieke, who hopes to attend Tech’s home game against Gardner-Webb on Saturday. “If you show that you have the ability to play as a freshman, he’ll put you out there.”

Tech receivers coach Buzz Preston was in attendance during North Clayton’s 39-6 victory over Forest Park at Tara Stadium on Friday.

“I didn’t get to talk to him that much,” Dieke said. “I try not to think about [scouts assessing him]. I just go out and play hard every game regardless of who is watching.”

I don’t have to tell you that you have made the right choice Dieke. Not only do you have a great defense, coach and team to play for, you will have a degree that will be recognized globally. Stay strong, enjoy your last year in high school and we will look forward to seeing you in the spring. Go Jackets!!!

Linebacker? Wow, never heard of a 6’6- 6’7 linebacker before. I guess anything goes in high school. He’ll play DE at Tech though right?
